RMC with a BIG 2nd half to overcome MWC at the end.I was surprised my old friend and RMC Alum Rod Wood was no longer coaching at MWC but was in "An Administrative Position"...-a decision that I think MWC will see as a mistake later-EGOS get in the way of reason sometimes!! Rod has always been a FIREBALL similar to my friend and former Jacket Coach Mike Rhoades-He was an asset to that program!!

Two things: Why are you surprised he wasn't coaching? That was big news at the end of last year and during the immediate off-season. Secondly, do you see who is coaching Mary Washington? That was the other big news of the offseason. They got Marcus Kahn from Cabrini and that is a damn fine coach. Sure, not having Rod Wood is probably not the greatest decision, but getting Kahn was a very good move.

^^ we have the same observations CMR but it's really early to count the Jackets out.  This is big team w/a lot of new players & 2 of their 4-year leaders (on & off the court) graduated (A. Simon & J. Robinson).

We know they will come together as a team; the question is "when".  First thing they must do is get around the zone defense.  We hope this weekend on the road will help them get it together.

If we hear of anything social at VWC on 12/3, we'll post it 1982.

Congrats to last night's ODAC winners.

GO JACKETS!!!!

Agreed, I had just hoped that this team would have come out of the gate swinging.  Just a little disappointment on my part.  With so many seniors, I'd thought they be further along and ready to play top ball.  They just look too disorganized for such a senior laden and top ranked team.  Let's hope they start running on all cylinders soon.

VUL has put its athletic info on the school main website now -
Just heard their women's basketball coach was fired and all the players quit this week, and I was actually not surprised at all when I heard it. Now you realize why I was actually surprised they still have an athletic department!

I'm actually surprised they exist as a school.

Guilford (3-0) over the Pride (1-1) at Greensboro College tonight, 76-65.  GCQ led by 20 in the second half, but GCP did pull within 8 in the last few minutes.  The Quakers had four players in double figures led by Matt McCarthy's 20.  Greensboro had two players in double figures led by Devan Gregory's 27.  I think the key was Guilford's 10 of 22 three-point shooting compared to Greensboro's 5 of 23.

Emory and Henry will beat some teams that do not expect to have to play well against the Wasps.  Maryville barely won @ Emory.  Some good looking freshmen and sophomores on the Wasps team and the team seems to know what it is supposed to be doing on the court.

thanks, never heard of the school
Virginia University-Lynchburg is NOT affiliated with the University of Virginia in Charlottesville.  It's an HBCU that began life in the late 19th century as a seminary and has gone through many, many name changes over the years.  Financially unstable, they were placed on probation last year by their accreditation body.  Some of their students were evicted from the hotel the college was renting as dorm space because the college was over $100,000 in arrears.  Coaches and other employees have jumped ship when the payroll wasn't met for months at a time.  It's a messy deal ...

^ sad, that.

The Jackets are playing in the Hoopsville Classic at Stevenson this weekend v. Mary Hardin-Baylor tonight & Wittenberg tomorrow night.  They'd better be ready for opponents like that!  Win or lose, hopefully they come back a better team for the experience.

Good luck to all around the ODAC this weekend.

GO JACKETS!!!

RMC trying really hard to give another game away!

^ no giveaways tonight.  The Jackets come away with the 66-62 win over MHB in OT.  78% from the FT line, what an improvement over the last game.

GO JACKETS!!!!

Judging by the box score it looks like the Jackets won it from the 3-point line.  Eleven of the Jackets' 20 field goals were threes (11 of 28 total taken). MHB only made one three out of 14 taken. Other than that and a couple more made free throws the Jackets lost the stats battle. But it only matters if you win. It doesn't matter how.
