Didn't get to watch the Jackets last night, but it looks like great play by the bench, scoring 53 of the 85 points. Holmes and Silverthorn have 31 combined - almost as many as the 5 starters. And all those assists are impressive. Seems that Carroll must not have much height, starting four guards and a forward.

Quakers (7-2) over Southern Maine (3-6) in DC last night, 87-80.  Today, GC versus Catholic and Southern Maine faces York (PA) in the consolation game.  Tried to follow the live stats, but whoever had it set up had the two teams and their records reversed plus the individual stats were a mixture of players from both teams - finally gave up until it was over.  lol

Just watched the video of the last second three by Husson that downed HSC, 53-51.  Tough way to get your first loss of the season!

HSCDad

H-SC  - Husson game.  3 pointers were tough for H-SC -  first for selves as only had 10% from 3 point land  with 2 for 20.  Then on other end, Husson had two in last couple of minutes with one with the ball in the air when the horn blew so H-SC lost by 2. Sinking feeling when this occurs - can understand how Mary Washington has felt last two years when H-SC did the same to them.  Other area was foul shouting - H-SC was 5 for 8 and Husson had 20 for 25 - that's a 15 point spread there.     8-1 so pretty good shape to start league play and freshman and transfers got some good playing time. On to USC-Irvine (Div 1) for New Year's Eve game.  Russell Turner's team so H-SC ties from mid 1990's. Russell is still the all time H-SC scorer.  Interestingly, because H-SC has played one conference game (E&M), the outcome of the Dec 31st game will count in the win/loss column.  Happy New Year to all.

I'd also add, that both Engel's and Silverthorn's shots have been off so far and little has dropped for them, but once those two freshmen get the range down, they will both be very special from the outside.

Silverthorn is 4-5 from 3.  That's what I'm talking about!

Eighty percent from three will win a lot of games!

R-MC played a game against Averett a few years ago (likely Davis's first or second year as coach) and made about 20 3s with Adam Desgain hitting 11 of 13 (or something like that).

That's a career!  lol  The most memorable game for me was watching GC's Gabriel Lowder (now traveling with the World All-Stars as an "opponent" for the Harlem Globetrotters) when he made 10 of 11 and scored 36 versus Roanoke.

Memorable game for sure, but the most memorable 3 pointer has to be the Jordan Snipes length of the floor shot at R-MC after the missed free throw with 0.6 on the clock.  I was listening to that and couldn't believe it. That has to top the chart of buzzer beaters. The only thing that would have made it better if it had been in some really important championship game instead of a regular season conference game.

What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, according to the commercials. Therefore, this preposterous rumored Hampden-Sydney loss didn't happen! ;D

Now, you didn't have to bring that up!  What are you doing, being Hasanova's straight man?  Okay, go ahead, 'Nova.

At the time it was painful, but a decade later not so much. You just have to marvel at the fact that it happened. If you google Jordan Snipes it immediately returns "jordan snipes buzzer beater" with a link to a video on youtube of the shot from underneath the basket of the missed free throw. Amazing to see. Nothing but net.

If I recall correctly, an even more amazing part of the story is that the next day a news photog (who hadn't gotten the original shot) asked him to re-create the shot - first try, swish! :o

Silverthorn is 2-3 from 3 in only 11 minutes of play.  The Jackets are playing well, the last two games were strong, good FT shooting, good 3 point shooting, good inside play.  Very balanced.  This team would be hard to defend with so many players hitting their shots at the moment.  It's starting to gel for the Jackets.

... standing right at that door to the right of that basket when it happened.  Still can't believe it!
