Once again a close game, I think EMU must have a patent on them by now. EIGHT games decided by one possession. Come out short against W&L on the road.  http://www.emuroyals.com/sports/mbkb/2014-15/releases/20150121mwnats

^^ Pat makes a good point. When you compare schedules the two teams each had a one point game against CNU with the Jackets losing and the Marlins winning. Then, other than the games against each other, both of which the Jackets won, VWC lost on the road to an 11-3 ranked Emory team (two of whose losses are to other ranked teams) while R-MC lost at home to 8-8 Frostburg State.  I agree that the Jackets should get a slight voting nod over VWC, especially based on head-to-head results, but there's more to it than that.
Maybe..... But even with losing to Frostburg and CNU EARLY we should be ranked ahead of VWC based on the way we've been playing lately. I still think VWC gets votes based on their HISTORY and having won a National Championship. You can defend your pollsters all you want Pat, but they've CLEARLY gotten this one wrong. Rankings really don't mean anything until the end of the season, but just because we dropped a couple early, and one to an unranked team(both in November)doesent hold water right now . My statement stands- don't think they can rank us behind the Fish now...

Why are you shouting? Yes, NOW you should clearly be ranked ahead but before last night, it was NOT clear. In the next poll, IF Randolph-Macon continues to take care of business, I am sure Macon will be ahead of VWC?
I'm not shouting Pat and , quite honestly, I'm sorry I said anything in the first place..... We have let our talking be done  and have made our case on the court, where it should have been. I have just been upset a little by what I viewed as a snub by your pollsters. IMHO- if you beat somebody head to head - on their own court-and you have similar records you should be ranked ahead of them, regardless of what happened the first week of the season . If I offended any of you
I am sorry for that....Especially any of my VWC friends..... I have nothing but the highest respect for you guys and especially your
Program..... 'Nuff said ...

Well one voter is apparently not in his right mind and has been voting RMC ahead of VWC for awhile now: http://www.d3blogs.com/d3hoops/2015/01/19/daves-top-25-ballot-week-7-3/

I will admit, though, that the Frostburg loss has constantly bugged me as I have moved RMC around on the poll. Yes, they probably shouldn't be where I have them with that loss on their resume... but then again everyone has a game (even if they have won it) that doesn't add up. I might get burned with RMC this high...

You must be a good guy if you are friends with Dale, so I'll I give you this advise; never post when you've had more than two drinks, get off the bourbon and find some Irish Wiskey, and never hand around with Judge Parker or retired Judge Parker !!!!
Have fun watching your Son, those days go very quickly and they are some of the best days for the father-son relationship. Go Raiders

thanks for the advice!! I was happy after my sons game and our RMC win last night!!..... And Dale and Westbrook Parker are two of my closest friends, along with Vee Pittman, and they're ALL HSC guys!! I was expressing an emotion that was best left alone for now..... We may be peaking at the wrong time..... I really hope we can keep playing at this level- don't know if we can though! As for enjoying my son- he's the youngest of three and a level headed kid who's a joy to watch and be around! He's not really a basketball player- last night he was just on fire!! He really only plays basketball to keep him in shape for baseball-where he may be good enough to play in college- that's his dream.....
If he gets it to help with his education that's an even better thing!! Again- sorry if I offended....;-)

Maybe you're not aware, but posting in all caps is considered shouting. Internet 101 from 1998. :)

CMR- I'm only Saying what everyoNE else is THINKING!!! WHO in their right mind  would rank them ahead of us after we beat them in DECEMBER IN THEIR HOUSE??? They may beat us in the tournament....they are VERY GOOD and I don't take anything away from them..... but we OWN this now!!

On the other part:

IMHO- if you beat somebody head to head - on their own court-and you have similar records you should be ranked ahead of them, regardless of what happened the first week of the season .

Here's the issue -- VWC and Macon have similar records but before yesterday's game, that was only because Va. Wesleyan lost to Emory, currently the No. 12 team, while Randolph-Macon lost to Frostburg, currently a .500 team. We don't ignore that just because the records were similar. What you're looking for is standings, whereas rankings are more of a qualitative analysis.

Again, all moot if R-MC takes care of business this weekend and if you had waited for us to actually issue a poll that included last night's game, I doubt you would have had anything to complain about.

Who's seen the Generals this season?  What's their style of play and who are the "go to" guys?  W&L visits Guilford tomorrow afternoon at 3.  All Generals fans in attendance are welcome to say hello!

In keeping with my significant drop off in watching W&L football games this fall (sigh), I have yet to catch a W&L basketball game. Feeling like a very negligent alumnus these days...

All do respect, why would anyone watch W&L play basketball ????? Just kidding!!!!!

I hear you, but W&L isn't a bad D3 team, they just aren't a very good ODAC team. I don't have a whole lot of interest in basketball, but I usually catch a half dozen or so games a year. This year I doubt I'll see more than one or two. It's nice to just watch the students that are putting in the time. I usually try to catch a game or two of almost every field sport plus basketball over the computer (except baseball. Can't watch baseball at any level. Puts me right to sleep). Unless the teams come down to Sewanee or closer, then if it's a team sport I try and make it to the game.

I guess the first scouting report on the Gennies will be my OJT tomorrow!
