I think I'd rather have the 6th seed based on the info above.

I agree with your assesment. I think HSC has tremendous upside going forward. They two more really strong recruiting classes to add to the current pool of talent. Get that done and HSC could easly find themselves back in the regional/national conversation. As always, time will tell.
Also, next year we return a player who was looking really good early on in JaVonte Reddick, and one of our top freshmen in Logan Samuels had to sit out the year. Hopefully the freshman class sticks around instead of transferring in mass like last year's class.

Good luck to all for the last games of the regular season.

GO JACKETS!!!

Unlike DI, playing juniors and seniors is typically the winning formula for DIII.  If HSC can retain their players, it will be fun for years to come.  HSC's freshman class last year could have been good, but losing them to transfer has set the program back.  What was the cause of the 'in mass' issue, or was it just several individual decisions?

I don't know the background around the transfers but I'm hope the reasons had to do with academic pursuits (seeking a degree not offered at HSC) rather than a kid having a bad experience.

Stephen Vassor is on the roster at ODU, a DI program, but hasn't played this year.  I believe he may have been interested in Engineering, which isn't available at HSC.

Cam Collins is on the track team at UVA.

Don't know about Kyle McLellan.

Our freshmen big men this year, as a group, have played better than the freshman big men who transferred, so I'm not sure it was really a loss for the Tigers.

If the Tigers defeat Shenandoah, they'll be seeded #5 (if Lynchburg loses to Bridgewater) or #6 (if Lynchburg defeats Bridgewater).

If the Tigers lose to Shenandoah (again), they'll be seeded #6 (if Randolph defeats Washington & Lee), #7 (if W&L defeats Randolph and Lynchburg defeats Bridgewater), or #8 (if W&L defeats Randolph and Bridgewater defeats Lynchburg).

The only thing that's clear is that the Tigers will host someone on Monday the 23rd.  It could be Randolph, Roanoke, Emory & Henry, or Shenandoah.

Yes, it was only three of the freshmen who are no longer with us, seemed like more though. But McLellan was unfortunately forced to retire. One reason Vassor transferred to ODU is because his HS coach is an assistant there now.

HSC Had a couple of upperclass player transfer to UVA for their Senior year - not sure why they  left -  HSC had nice win today over Shen. 80-66.  Shen.'s 3 pointers kept them in the game. Coach Vick dressed the manager for Senior day and he scored the last 2 points - appeared on streaming that Shen actually let him do the last layup which was a nice act. Seeded #6 and will play E&H on Monday night.  Good shot for Greg Lewis to get to 1000 points.

Tigers defeat Shenandoah.  Bridgewater defeats Lynchburg.  Randolph-Macon defeats Emory & Henry.  Washington & Lee defeats Randolph.  Looks like Hampden-Sydney will be seeded #6 and will host #11 Emory and Henry on Monday evening!

Seedings after today's games:
#1 - RMC
#2 - VWC
#3 - Guilford
#4 - EMU if they beat Roanoke tomorrow, Lynchburg if EMU loses to Roanoke

The Roanoke @ EMU game tomorrow will affect not only those two teams' seeding for the tournament, but will also affect the seeding of Randolph and Bridgewater ...

If EMU beats Roanoke tomorrow:
#12 Shenandoah @ #5 Lynchburg
#11 Emory and Henry @ #6 HSC
#10 Roanoke @ #7 W&L
#9 Bridgewater @ #8 Randolph

If Roanoke beats EMU tomorrow:
#12 Shenandoah @ #5 EMU
#11 Emory and Henry @ #6 HSC
#10 Bridgewater @ #7 W&L
#9 Randolph @ #8 Roanoke

Players transferring for their senior year?  If I were a HSC guy, I'd be bewildered and concerned about that.  If nothing else, what's going on on campus to cause this.  And, HSCathletics, you explained the low attendance earlier to the virus and weather, but 222 on Senior Day?  You've got 1100 students that can walk to the gym, even if the weather is bad.  I watched some of the game today, looked like about 5 people there.

I think the ODAC is going to be very unpredictable this season. Nine of the twelve teams have winning records and the eight other than R-MC are likely capable of beating the two teams the Jackets beat this weekend. Both those teams come from somewhat weaker conferences than the ODAC. St. Norbert, the top team in the MWC where Carroll plays, is 9-1 and currently ranked 18th. None of the other MWC teams is receiving votes. The CUNYAC, where Baruch plays, has Brooklyn on top at 10-1 and not even getting a single top 25 vote. I'm not sure if the voters haven't noticed Brooklyn yet, or if Brooklyn has just played really weak competition. R-MC has to feel good to already have the two ODAC wins over VWC and Lynchburg, two very good teams. Hopefully the Jackets will continue to improve. I listened to Coach Davis on the post-game last night and he mentioned that he is still working on the rotation. It seemed clear from that comment and a couple of others that he still has some thinking and work to do to feel comfortable with who to put on the floor and when and maybe what combinations of players to have on the floor together. Anyway, it's probably going to be an intense battle in conference play, with no team likely to survive with only two losses as R-MC was able to do last season.

Guess I was wrong. Congrats to the Jackets and Coach Davis,

We've had ONE senior transfer out in Dee's entire career here. That was Kodie Critzer. He was a package deal with Cam Anderson. Cam was forced to leave school over academics, and Critzer saw his playing time cut in half last year due to lack of production. The writing was on the wall with that transfer.

Last year's roster had five juniors on it. This year's roster has four seniors on it. I'm not sure where this mythical second senior transfer is coming from, but it is 100% false.

That 222 attendance figure was way off. I forgot to add it after the game and Shenandoah added in a number. It has now been corrected to a much more accurate estimate of 682. The 400 chair-back seats underneath where we film were all nearly filled, and we had a bunch come in around halftime that sat in the endzone bleachers and the bleachers behind the bench. I don't think a lot of people got the memo the game time changed to 1 pm instead of 2 despite us blasting it all over the website, social media, and email. Even one of my student employees didn't show up until the second half despite me emailing and texting all of them the time change! >:(

Well you got half the bolded part right at least, the intense battle part.

Haven't seen any All-ODAC chatter yet like we usually do at this point in the season. Coach of the Year and Rookie of the Year have to pretty much be locks to Nathan Davis and Clayton Murtha, I would think, but who do you all think is the Player of the Year? Doesn't really seem like there is a clear cut choice going by the typical combination of stats + team record.
