Guilford starts the regular season at home Tuesday night (17-Nov) at 7 pm versus our intracity rival Greensboro.  Always a big crowd for this one!  Go Quakers!

So when is a win not a win?  When the school is not accredited.  Either way, the game was played and EMU's team of Freshmen and Sophomores came away with the win.  http://www.emuroyals.com/sports/mbkb/2015-16/releases/20151114yahyw0

W&L opens with a tight win against Berry. Nice to get a W to start the season. With the fall sports season the Generals men had, the basketball team is going to have to step up big time to keep it rolling.

Yep there are a few schools on the list that ODAC schools have played in the past, with VLU being the most frequent one. They are just glorified exhibitions if on your schedule now, except they count against a team's 25-game allotment in the regular season.

Guilford opened the regular season at home with a tense 68-63 win over intracity rival Greensboro.  The Pride was hyped and shooting well (the bank was open on threes) in the first 13 minutes, but began to cool and were not, in my opinion, as disciplined as Guilford.   The Quakers cut a 35-22 deficit to 40-36 at the half and took the lead at 48-46.  It was tied several times until Guilford took a 63-60 lead on a time clock beating three.  If the Quakers had been a little better at the line, they could have pulled away to a 10-11 point win instead of five.

W&L drops to 1-1 after getting soundly outscored in the second half at CNU.

Is AU good or did HSC forget to show up ?

I think Averett is probably pretty good...they were picked to win their conference.  However, I still didn't expect them to win at H-SC so convincingly...box score said they were up by 23 mid way through the second half.

Lynchburg beats UMW by 4. I watched much of the first half. Lynchburg on fire to start the game, goes up 15-2 in 4 minutes. UMW coach doesn't call a time out and his guys go on their own 16-2 run. From there it appears to have been a fairly typical game between evenly matched teams. Was impressed with the video feed and different camera angles used by the Lynchburg braodcast crew. Worth noting that UMW beat R-MC by 17 last Sunday. R-MC very young this year so will probably take their lumps but hopefully improve and be much better in February and coming seasons.

EMU drops first official game on the road at Ferrum.  Good to see the young Royals fight back and make a game of it.  http://www.emuroyals.com/sports/mbkb/2015-16/releases/20151117wqkvre The Jones twins and Harris-Winn were the players in double figures

What's up with the ODAC?  USASouth teams are winning a few games against ODAC.  Must be global warming?

Perhaps the USASouth is better, perhaps the odac is down, its a long season and game results will provide the answer.

Former VWC Marlin David Doino is the head coach at Averett, may have had some inside info on how to beat an ODAC team  ;)

Congrats to Josh Merkel on getting his first win as R-MC head coach. Ironically it was over Frostburg State who gave the Jackets one of their two regular season losses last year.

Quakers start the season 3-0 with close wins over Greensboro 68-63, St Mary's (MD) 69-68 in OT and Cabrini 85-82.  One senior, Will Freeman, so young players will see playing time.  Speaking of Averett, the Cougars visit Guilford Tuesday the 24th.
