The difference in this game was the 16 offense rebounds by AU.

I didn't notice that. Certainly a difference maker. And I suspect a number of R-MC's fouls were late in the game to stop the clock.

The Jacket's offense is doing well, but the defense is suffering, need more interior defense.  I'd get some bigger, taller bodies in the middle.  The difference in this game was the 16 offense rebounds by AU.

I looked at Averett's roster. They aren't any taller than the Jackets, but they are a more veteran team.

The Royals started out the ODAC season with an OT win over Randolph.  Good to see any road win by this young team.  http://www.emuroyals.com/sports/mbkb/2015-16/releases/20151129p5j7hi

Last year decent to better big guys tended to have a field day against the Cougars, but thus far from stats, and from what I saw against us, their interior defense appears to be significantly better.

No. 15 for VWC in new poll....better fit until the young Marlins begin to rebound and play defense better! Waiting for a leader to emerge, but it seems to start this way every season for the Fish who always seem to be where they need to be by the end of the season!

Averett is 3-1 against the ODAC so far this season after today's win over R-MC (also beat Guilford and H-SC and lost to VWC). They still have games against Bridgewater, EMU, Lynchburg, and Randolph.

R-MC only shot six free throws (and made two) to Averett's 21 (14 made). The personal foul disparity wasn't terribly unbalanced -- 18 called on the Jackets to 12 on Averett. Otherwise the stats show a pretty even game -- including 64% 3 point shooting for the Jackets.
If you look at AU's roster, you will see the "Tidewater effect" under former Marlin David Doino.  I'm sure Macedo will keep the best for himself, but may make recommendations to Averett from that part of the state.  I was impressed with the Cougars.

Methodist Monarchs at GCQ Wednesday night ... hope the Quakers can bounce back from the loss to AU.  Two more games in Ragan-Brown this weekend:  ODAC opener vs Bridgewater Saturday at 3 pm and an OOC games vs Emory on Sunday at 3 pm.

Hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving holiday.  Sad to see another Jackets loss but they are learning!

Tough road game ahead tomorrow night.

GO JACKETS!!!

The wins will come. After graduating 4 starters and several other good players, and losing your head coach, and having a really young team, it takes a while to get in gear. Only one double digit loss and that was the first game. I'm impressed with what Lamont Moore has done so far -- very consistent. He's earned his time in the spotlight and chance to be the leader.

Was only able to watch the beginning of R-MC vs Lynchburg last nght. Jackets were up 27-24 when I had to stop watching. Great video feed from LC. Not sure what happened the rest of the way but when you give up 94 points it suggests some work needs to be done on defense. I was surprised to see that LC had lost at Bridgewater in OT a few days ago. LC is a good team.

W&L claims H-SC as their first ODAC scalp. Comes on the heels of taking down nationally ranked Catholic. Va Wes coming up Friday afternoon will be a stern test. Other than the game at CNU, W&L has been putting up a fight so far this season. H-SC is the first win by more than a possession...

Yes, the feed was excellent and with multiple camera angles.  RMC should take note.  And, the team should take note on the court as well.  Jackets got off to a strong start and simply lost focus in the second half.  I'm no coach, but I still think we need more height in the middle.  LC would drive and there was no one there to stop the inside shoot.   When the game was almost over, two 6-8s got in and I'd like to see more of that.

It was also very obvious how big a win this was for LC (for their team and fans).  I'd say that anytime that a team plays (and beats) RMC, even in a down year for RMC, it's a big deal for them, given the history and tradition of RMC.  I'd also say that it's the same for teams against VWC and HSC.  For a perennial bottom tier team to beat RMC, VWC, or HSC, it's a big deal.  That's just giving respect to those top programs.

Agreed, y_jack_lok...LC's loss to BC was a surprise, and a bad one for the Hornets.

Another challenge for the Jackets tomorrow. Ferrum beat EMU by 4 at home, lost by nine at Lynchburg, and won by one at Emory & Henry.
