If you're looking for conference strength, use the massey ratings...

Agreed. What I posted above is only surface level information. Massey goes into a lot more detail evaluating various factors to come up with a more valid comparison of conference strength.

I'm a frequent visitor there, but how do you access that conference strength info? Not that it really means anything, I'm just interested

Just saw the Macon-VWC score. The margin of victory might just be the most shocking thing you'll see in ODAC Basketball this year, not surprised RMC won, but by that many? Wow

Agreed!  Didn't see that coming & sorry had to miss this game at home.  Were VWC scorers just cold last night or did the Jackets defense shut them down?

Great to see Michael Taylor & Daniel Noe get the ball & know what to do with it & congrats to the Jackets on low turnovers!

GO JACKETS!!!!

^^^I watched it online, but with the poor quality of the free video feed it's sometimes hard to asses the finer points of the game. VWC never went all out with a full court press, so I'd say that accounts for the low turnovers by the Jackets. They also just didn't seem as committed on defense and certainly weren't ready for Daniel Noe to be hitting outside shots. They missed a lot of their close in shots, which I think the Jacket defense deserves a lot of credit for, and they had a hard time getting good, open looks from outside. All in all I'd say it's just one of those games where one good team played poorly and the other played well. The Jackets are certainly improving and I hope that continues.

CMR

For the VWC/RMC game, one team was very disciplined and the other was not, including VWC getting a technical on the floor in the second half.  This is certainly not the VWC teams of the past.  Very disorganized and lots of confusion on the floor for the Marlins. But, at the same time, RMC probably played it's best game of the year, two good halves.  Again injuries besets the Jackets, with Silverthorn on the bench.  Not sure the extent of the injuries.  Lamont gets in early foul trouble, but three guys (Noe, Taylor, and Adams) have their best games of the year.  Hard to stop three players that are performing at that level.  The future is bright for the Jackets!

enjoyed watching your team play last nite, as always they are well coached and play hard. the game could have gone either way. #23 has a nose for the ball, might be the best rebounder for a small guy I've seen in quite awhile.

Click on the down arrow in the box that says "More" and select "Conferences"...they rank the ODAC and USA South at 10 and 11 respectively.  Still a very solid ranking for the ODAC and, surprisingly, the USA South...probably the highest ranking they've ever had on massey.

VWC played a very uninspired game and just didn't look like they wanted to be there. Normally, Randolph-Macon is a game circled on the schedule and one that the players get up for. You can tell RMC came ready for a fight, but VWC wasn't, and thumped them in the 2nd half. Macedo went deep into his bench searching for answers but none of the players were ready to provide any. After the injury to senior Nick Doyle, it seems as if he's yet again searching for that leader or that young guy to step up. They'll need to figure it out fast, because that road trip to Roanoke now looms large on Saturday. This seems like a low point in VWC basketball, but in 2009 they barely cracked .500 and still won the ODAC. So I'm not ruling out a turnaround, but the rest of the ODAC schedule for the Marlins will be a war every game. On that same token, Noe, Taylor, and Midulla or RMC are some ball players! My 1st time seeing RMC this year. They don't look like a team that anyone will want to face come ODAC time. All 3 can shoot the leather off the ball

I saw Noe play in high school and was going to try to interest him in Scranton but found out he had already chosen Navy by that game.

DeWayneCarter

Oh so Noe is the kid from Navy? Makes sense. He's a straight up baller

Thanks, never have even noticed that box before. Goes to show how little I was paying attention to detail on there!

No problem, sth...I remember you from your days at Lynchburg when I used to banter w/some of the ODAC regulars back in the day.
