See, Brian knows what I'm talking about...for me, the message boards haven't been the same since the early 2000s.

The early to early mid 2000s were the glory days, at least for the ODAC board. Remember the great ODAC Tournament Moonpie/RC Cola controversy of either 2005 or 2006 involving me, Jim Loesel, and Stan Bright? lol

Swish3

Sounds familiar, but I can't remember the details...definitely remember Jim Loesel, though...those were the good ol' days!

Jim Loesel still owes me a moon pie and RC for the year I won the picke'em. ;D. I know a lot of the old posters still lurk but don't comment as much.  That's what I do!  But I still follow the board and appreciate input and insight from other posters, especially some of the schools that have been underrepresented on here.

Mr. Ypsi

Jim Loesel and I established that we might have even met (though doubtful either of us would remember the other).  His family owned an outdoor food stand in Frankenmuth MI that he sometimes worked at and that my family sometimes patronized.  Small world! ;)

Here is part of the controversy.  A Dr. Pepper was substituted!  Also remember that STH went by MyBleedingHands for a little while.  I'm thankful that we've had a good group of people on here over the years.  Miss some past posters (Steely, Jim Loesel, etc.) but appreciate the new posters and us old guys (Swish3, Algernon, Hasanova, Myself, etc.) that are still around.

Now, Algernon...you have to get in on the action as well...still complaining about Scottie's substitution of a Dr.Pepper last year. You simply have no grounds for whining as Herr Loesel has photographic evidence of you not only accepting the Dr.Pepper, but consuming it on the spot with a voracity seldom seen at the Salem Civic Center!

Photographic evidence?!  Doesn't he ever put that camera down?

Perhaps Jim is the one who is always watching and comes up with these attendance figures ....  :)

One more comment and I'll drop it, but it is interesting that what is considered the heyday of the ODAC board by some is also the heyday of the Monday night wrestling wars between WCWc and WWE (formerly WWF).  What is more ironic is that our color was provided by Scottie Too Hottie, paying tribute to these Monday night wars and occasionally performing his worm finishing move. :D

I suspect a more cogent correlation is that the heyday of the ODAC board was also the rise to 'power conference status' for the ODAC.  (And yes, I STILL want a rematch of the 2006 FF game between Va Wes and IWU! :o >:( ;D)  Despite that (or probably because of that), I was an ardent advocate that ODAC had become one of the power conferences before most nationally had noticed.  So you need to do a better job of upholding that status recently! ::)

And I learned something tonite - I had not made the connection of hscathletics to Scottie Too Hottie or MyBleedingHands.

Brian Hamilton

I agree with your assessment about ODAC's rise to being a power conference Mr. Ypsi, but that does not relate to STH's moniker.  I was just having a little fun with that!

I also went by a handle that involved Gummi Bears (and I still love Gummi Bears, FWIW). I remember ruffling some feathers when I used "The only guru ever" or something to that effect. Went and looked back at some my old postings. Yep I was an idiot back then.

But, to me at least, you were usually a lovable idiot! ;D

(I vaguely remember the Gummi Bear's phase, but I couldn't tell the handle if you put a gun to my head. ;))

Jackets on a long road trip today.

GO JACKETS!!!!

DeWayneCarter

What a way to bounce back VWC! Go into Roanoke and get a tough road win and avenge an earlier loss to move into sole possession of 1st place in the ODAC!

CMR

RMC wins by 17 at EHC, may be the hottest team in the ODAC at the moment.  Plus, HSC loses big at BC, quite a surprise, but any day that HSC loses is a good day.

Definitely a good wire-to-wire win for the Jackets. E&H got off to a slow start in the first half but a quick one in the second half to go from 14 down to 3 down before the Jackets pulled away. Grayson Midulla picked up where Daniel Noe left off on Wednesday night. Lamont Moore with yet another great game. Jackets learning how to stay composed with a 2nd half lead and close out games. Credit to the coaching staff for helping the team get better every game. That's 8 wins in the last ten games.
