Hear Guilford may have some incoming height ... hope they develop into great players.   Season opens Nov. 15 at Greensboro.

Just checked your roster.  Compared to Ben Strong/Tyler Sanborn you've got a team of midgets! ;D

Seems to me like the players in D3 get shorter every year. I suspect that coaches at D2 and lower level D1 conferences fight hard for the guys with height in the hopes that they can develop them into contributing players after a year or two.

Yeah, I know.  Heard one prospect has already decided not to continue this season.  BTW, the roster on Guilford's website is still for last season.

You can't teach height, right? But as the NBA is showing (granted different defensive rules), height isn't all it was cracked up to be if you can shoot the 3. I'm guessing, however, that if you can shoot the 3 these days, the D2 and lower D1 guys have already found you, regardless of height!

If #40 and #43 can play, GC might really be #18 -- or better.

Yeah, we'll see ... they were both Top 100 prospects in NC and played on good HS teams.

Those are some big boys!

As the old saying goes, can they walk and chew gum at the same time?  In terms of quantity, the roster itself is big...25 players is a lot!

Speaking of Guilford and "big boys" ... the third podcast in the Hoopsville Preseason Podcasts series dropped today. We talk to Tyler Sanborn who has taken over at Ferrum after a number of years at Hampden-Sydney as head coach... and well, you all know the Guilford story.

Sanborn is the third interview in the show which you can find here: http://www.d3hoops.com/hoopsville/archives/2017-18/preseason-podcasts

But he isn't the only ODAC connection in the podcast. We also talk to Chris McHugh '09 who takes over his alma mater, W&L, after five very successful years as assistant, then briefly as associate, coach at Emory.

You can also listen to the other podcasts in the series.

Enjoy!

Coach Palombo regularly has 24 to 26 on the roster.  Most first year players, even in DIII, need a year or so to become acclimated to the college game.  We'll see how this team jells ... I suspect quite well.

Glad you have a b'ball program that is still competitive. HSC has not enjoyed that for awhile. Hoping Tigers improve this year but I know nothing about the rooster/season expectations.
