Yeah, looks like the SU Hornets got absolutely blitzed in the second half.

I've watched all the ODAC teams at least 2 games and I'm confident in saying RMC is the best second half team in the ODAC this year. I have RMC winning the ODAC tourney this year.

Two significant games today in the race for first round byes in the conference tournament: GC at RMC and VWU at W&L. The other game that affects top four seeding is E&H at LC.

GC got off to a slow start in conference play, but has won five in a row. VWU has bounced back from three straight losses in mid-January to win three in a row. After starting 5-0, W&L is 2-4 in its last six games. RMC showed some weaknesses in the home loss to EMU but has won twice since then. E&H beat LC at home 17 days ago. Can they do it on the road after the loss at Roanoke?

Congratulations to RMC.  I can't count the times the Quakers played good defense for 29.5 seconds.  It was, however, in my opinion, an inconsistently officiated game.  If Kyler Gregory wasn't fouled in the act of shooting in the second half, then I must have missed learning something in the many, many games I've watched over the years.  It's also not often when you see two technical fouls in a game.  RMC was the better team today and deserved to win, but it was a difficult game to watch.  Anyway, on to the next game.  Maybe we'll see the Yellow Jackets again this season.

I concur with both the statements I bolded above. I think the announcers were right when they said that it had gotten "chippy" and they surmised that the officials felt they needed to take control of the game. Lots of whistles in the last five minutes. Even in the first half, when play was better, it was hard to watch. Not a smooth game at all. Both teams were pretty delkberate offensively. I'm still not sure how RMC managed a 10 point halftime lead.

Roanoke beats SU today 85-76. RC is close to catching GC and W and L, both who only hold a 1 game lead on them for 3rd and 4th place.

In other ODAC news

EMU beats HSC 72-60

Randolph upsets Bridgewater 73-60.

Lynchburg upsets E and H at home 81-79. RMC and E and H are tied for first, with E and H holding the tiebreaker

VWC gets blown out at W and L 55-79. I didn't see this one coming as W and L was in a slide and VWC was on a winning streak.

In all this is going to be a fun last 2 weeks of regular season play as the ODAC is wide open this year.

E&H plays at RMC next Saturday, so that could change a tiebreaker situation, if that's what it comes to.

The two games that loom large tomorrow: GC at E&H and RMC at VWU. An RMC win and an E&H loss, or vice versa, would leave one team alone in first. Will E&H, after losing its last two on the road, bounce back and get a win at home? If Roanoke and VWU win and GC and W&L lose there will be four teams tied for 3rd place at 8-5.

Or if E&H and RMC both lose and GC, VW, RoC and W&L all win ... there will be 6 teams within 2 games of each other with 3 games to go.  Last week and a half to play should be interesting.

By the way, I attended tonight's GC at E&H game.  The Quakers looked sharp and played without customary starting Forward Alston Thompson who got a concussion midway through last Saturday's game at RMC.  I am hoping he will return for this Saturday's VW at GC game.

I have seen both GC vs E&H games this year ... the Quakers looked better this time and the Wasps did not look like the world beaters I saw Jan. 3.  I think this year's ODAC tournament is wide open.

I definitely agree. I can easily see the top seed in the tourney losing in their first game. RC beat LC last night 100-74. RC was up by 20 with 8 minutes left in the first half and didn't look back. RC has been playing lights out the past 2 weeks...if they can keep playing like this they have a good shot to make some noise in the tourney. RC's final three games are against W and L, Randolph and HSC.

Interesting enough it appears that out of the top teams in the league, RC appears to have the easiest schedule left and could slide into a tie for the 3 spot if Guilford (who has been playing very good the past couple of weeks) loses to VWC on Saturday and RC wins (Guilford holds the tiebreaker though).

Didn't get to see VWU vs RMC but judging by thje 56-54 score, it looked like the typical, hard nosed, defensive struggle type of RMC vs VW matchup I've been accustomed to. The Marlins defense hasn't been up to par all year but if they can hold a team like RMC to 54 points, hopefully that gives them confidence on that end of the floor vs everyone else and will allow them to shore up their biggest weakness. Macedo always preaches playing your best basketball towards the end of the year/ODAC tourney time so lets hope this springboards VWU into playing their best basketball!

W&L's win at Shenandoah last night guarantees the Generals their first winning conference record since '07-'08 and only the second winning conference record in 30 years. With 3 very difficult games to go, at Roanoke, at E&H and hosting RMC, W&L will likely be well aware of what they face when the ODAC tournament begins.
