The two games that loom large tomorrow: GC at E&H and RMC at VWU. An RMC win and an E&H loss, or vice versa, would leave one team alone in first. Will E&H, after losing its last two on the road, bounce back and get a win at home? If Roanoke and VWU win and GC and W&L lose there will be four teams tied for 3rd place at 8-5.
Or if E&H and RMC both lose and GC, VW, RoC and W&L all win ... there will be 6 teams within 2 games of each other with 3 games to go.  Last week and a half to play should be interesting.

By the way, I attended tonight's GC at E&H game.  The Quakers looked sharp and played without customary starting Forward Alston Thompson who got a concussion midway through last Saturday's game at RMC.  I am hoping he will return for this Saturday's VW at GC game.

I have seen both GC vs E&H games this year ... the Quakers looked better this time and the Wasps did not look like the world beaters I saw Jan. 3.  I think this year's ODAC tournament is wide open.

Isn't that exactly what happened?

Yes.  Written with tongue firmly in cheek.

Jackets squeeze one out at home 63-59 but don't look particular good doing it.... keep living by the 3.... gonna die by it soon! Not the hard nosed defense I like from us.... slashing penetration by E&H all day.... lucky that we won!

Final VW 67, Guilford 58

Quakers blow a 9-point halftime lead with terrible second-half shooting.  Nineteen point second half is worst I remember in quite a while.  Two for 16 three-point shooting and 14 of 24 FT shooting will not win many games.  Oh well, congratulations to VW on their comeback.  Looks like a 4-way logjam for 3rd place with 2 games to go.

^^^ Yes, four teams tied at 9-5. Anything can happen -- including multiple teams in a first place tie at 11-5. Gives real meaning to the final two games of the season for almost everyone.

I can't remember the last 2 games of the regular season meaning this much for the whole conference (there's even 3 teams tied for last place). In other news, RC beat W and L today 84-66. Game was close until the 5 minute mark in the first half when RC went on a run. RC controlled the game after that and their lead never went under 12 the rest of the game. RC is currently playing their best ball of the season and are on a 7 game winning streak.

Right now the 4 teams tied for 3rd is RC, W and L, GC, and VWC. It's also noteworthy to point out that E and H only has a 1 game lead on all these teams for 2nd place. I don't see E and H losing their last 2 games (W and L and EMU). I'm about 80% sure RMC will keep the 1st place spot as they play Lynchburg and HSC the last 2 games. It's going to be a great last week of regular season in the ODAC. I'm going to have to go to the first game of playoffs at Salem, it seems like every game will be competitive.

^^^ RMC plays at HSC and at W&L.

I wonder what's happened to E&H. Injuries to one or more player? Or just unable to continue play at a high level?

I think they lost their point guard a few games ago....

Losing Colin Molden and his 15 points/5 assists per game with a great A/TO ratio has been devastating to E&H.  Is he done for the season or is there a possibility that he can return?

VWU knocked off both RMC and GC this week. Has the light come on for the Marlins? We'll see. With 2 winnable ball games left vs Bridgewater and Randolph, the Marlins could potentially end the season with 4 straight wins, and with wins in 7 out of their final 8 games. Macedo is a big proponent of playing your best basketball in this time of year, so the Marlins could be a team that no one will want to play in the ODAC tournament. Looks like Roanoke will have that distinction as well, winning 7 straight games.

Also, I see that EMU has named Melvin Felix as their head coach going forward. Congrats to him! I've had the pleasure of meeting him and speaking with him over this last year or so as he has been recruiting a couple of the players at the high school I coach at. EMU is getting a fine young coach

No one ever wants to play VWU in the tourney. They're always that team that could beat you no matter what seed they are. I think any team besides the bottom 3 (SU,RC,HSC) has a shot this year at winning the tourney. I'm still sticking with my RMC pick though, I'm hoping I'm wrong and RC brings it home.

Is there a coach who isn't a big proponent of this?

W&L's win at Shenandoah last night guarantees the Generals their first winning conference record since '07-'08 and only the second winning conference record in 30 years. With 3 very difficult games to go, at Roanoke, at E&H and hosting RMC, W&L will likely be well aware of what they face when the ODAC tournament begins.
Congratulations to the Generals!

It's been a long time - but I'm back.

So far the Gennies have exceeded expectations. They have two tough games and then the tourney. My hope is that they will continue to exceed expectations. There's a new sheriff in Lexington ;D

Now if only we could get the announcement of the new sheriff for the football team.
