W&L's win at Shenandoah last night guarantees the Generals their first winning conference record since '07-'08 and only the second winning conference record in 30 years. With 3 very difficult games to go, at Roanoke, at E&H and hosting RMC, W&L will likely be well aware of what they face when the ODAC tournament begins.
Congratulations to the Generals!

It's been a long time - but I'm back.

So far the Gennies have exceeded expectations. They have two tough games and then the tourney. My hope is that they will continue to exceed expectations. There's a new sheriff in Lexington ;D

Now if only we could get the announcement of the new sheriff for the football team.
I vote for an experimental season of self-directed and consensus management by the players.

Feels like we are getting close to that already Hasa

These last 2 games loom large for seeding for the ODAC tourney. RMC at 11-3 has 2 tough ones vs HSC & W&L, E&H at 10-4 has WLU and EMU, VWC at 9-5 has Randolph and Bridgewater, and Roanoke at 9-5 has Randolph & HSC. W & L and Guilford both at 9-5 have E&H/RMC and Lynchburg/Shenandoah respectively. This week is promises to be a wild one, and next week looks to be even wilder in the ODAC!!!

RC with the big win tonight against Randolph. It was a close game in the first half, but RC was able to pull away in the second half. In other ODAC news:

W and L wins at E and H 92-87
Guilford loses at Lynchburg 73-79
VWU squeaks by BC 60-58
RMC wins at HSC 67-56
SU gets stomped on against EMU 93-121 :o

RC plays at HSC on Saturday and if they can win they might be able to sneak into the 2nd place in the ODAC (if E and H loses at EMU). That sounds absolutely crazy if you remember 3 weeks ago they were in 6th place, gotta love the ODAC.

With the RMC win and the E&H loss the Jackets are the #1 seed in the tournament. The 2-4 seeds will be determined Saturday. Looks like five teams have a shot at those three spots. Where they land is likely to be the result of one or more tie breakers.

At HSC tonight RMC faced several different zones and played better than against the EMU zone. Passing was much crisper leading to a lot of open threes, making 17 of 36. In fact, they only attempted 19 two point shots. The next step in the evolution of beating a zone is learning how to get the ball inside for layups. I've seen it done often, so I'm sure the RMC coaches can teach the guys how.

Final score at Lynchburg:  GC 28 PF, LC 17 PF

I could tell very early how this game was going to be called ...  and usually by the trailing official overruling the guy who was looking right at the play.  LC played well, but not that well.  I bet Marcus Curry was not on the floor 15 minutes tonight before getting his 2nd offensive foul and 5th foul overall.  Two other starters fouled out.  In 40+ years of watching GC basketball, I don't think I have ever seen three foul out and two others on the court with four.  C'est la vie.

W&L needs a win hosting RMC in the final game to tie the 11 conference wins mark they achieved in 2007/08. That mark was set over 18 games, not 16, so this team stands a chance at having the highest ODAC winning percentage of any W&L team since 1988/89. I believe the 07/08 team finished 5th in the ODAC, with a win, the Generals could top that finish depending on other results and tie breakers.

I can't tell you how many times over the years I've seen an official with what seems to be the best view not make a call and an official far removed from the play blow a whistle. It's always left me scratching my head. Sorry it was that kind of game for the Quakers.

Yeah, me too.  It was my first visit to Turner Gymnasium.  GC shot 11/13 on FTs and LC was 26/35 and it was still a 6-point game.  A buzzer beating three by LC to end the first half was another killer, but that's the way it goes.  GC still has a chance to get a top 4 spot, but I predict we will now finish in a 5 or 6 role.

^^^ If E&H, Roanoke, VW and W&L all lose on Saturday and GC wins (interesting that none of those teams are playjng each other) there will be five teams at 10-6. I don't envy the conference having to figure out which three of those are the 2-4 teams -- and in what order.

I haven't dug into all the tiebreaker scenarios, but GC was 1-1 against E&H, W&L and VW.  Surprisingly, GC has an edge over RoC since the Quakers won the lone game between the two.

in regulation?!

Yep. I can tell you that when I was in college if we gave up 121 points we'd be running the entire practice after that. So does anyone know how the tie breakers are determined in the ODAC? My guess would be head to head with the leader being how many points they won by.
