RMC at GC tomorrow ... big game.  I'm sorry I cannot attend due to a funeral service in Roanoke at the same time.  Hope it's a great game!

Roanoke wins at Bridgewater today 77-67. RC came out slow and quickly got down by 7. After the 10 minute mark of the 1st half the game went back and forth until midway through the second half where RC got the lead for good.  I must admit Bridgewater was better than I expected.

In other news around the ODAC:

Guilford pulls the stunner and beats RMC 64-63

VWU wins at Randolph 81-69

Ferrum (I keep forgetting they're in the ODAC) loses at William Peace 82-94

There are currently 3 other ODAC games at halftime.

We got out-rebounded and looked a little tentative in the first half( actually we were out-rebounded for the game by one or two) but we only had 4 turnovers for the entire game and points off turnovers were HEAVY in our favor. They were more physical than us the first half and the refs were letting them play( but it was a fairly called game both ways I thought) which we adjusted to- plus i thought the officiating was a little tighter both ways in the 2nd half. As hot as the Marlins were the first half and we were cold it reversed in the 2nd half and we were fortunate to pull this one out. I didn't go but watched the feed on my pc but it looked like a much sparser crowd than the usual VWC rowdy crowd- don't know why but it looked  empty....

College kids won't be back for another week (Christmas break).

It was a great win.  Since GC is the only team to give Lynchburg a loss, blew a lead and lost in overtime at VW and is one of two teams to beat NCWC, I think the "stunner" comment may not hold up much longer.  I sweat every game, but the Quakers are starting to click.  Looking forward to seeing Roanoke on Wednesday.

I'm not sure why this would be considered a stunner, especially given that the game was at GC. Having said that, the Jackets lost a 13 point halftime lead and only scored 24 points in the second half. It really was a tale of two halves and GC had the better of the two. Wish I could have seen it. Congrats to the Quakers.

Hopefully Roanoke comes to play (they've come out slow the past 2 games) or it could get bad.  I'm interested in the post match up as Guilford has 2 pretty good bigs that look to score when they're on the block and Freud is pretty good.  I hope Freud doesn't find himself in foul trouble.

^^ Guilford sometimes starts slowly also (note the 13-point halftime deficit vs RMC).  Our inside play is pretty strong with Long, Gregory, Ruszalla, Curry, Wells and Ward.  Guard play has been solid also ... Gore, in particular, has really stepped up his game.  Leckonby, Harkins, Logan. Porreca and Wallis can all handle the ball ... and shoot.

I was gone to Williamsburg on a trip with the wifey and didn't see any of it, although I checked the score at half and midway through the 2nd half. Can't say I was surprised either! Hasa's Quakers are well coached and usually play well in their house!, Congrats to them!! Jackets have to regroup and come back strong!!

Guilford is well-coached.  With a 13-14 record in 2005-06, Coach Palombo only has one losing season in his 16 years with the Quakers.  I bet every opposing coach circles a trip to Ragan-Brown.

New Top 25 poll is out:  RMC at 18, UL at 22 and GC receiving votes with 5 points ... and Guilford has wins this season over both teams.

Those GC wins are important to point out here so that voters, who have a lot to be aware of, will hopefully read it and can factor that info into future votes. Of course, at this point GC has four losses while R-MC has two and Lynchburg has only the one loss to GC.

Yes, there are four losses and all of them were in November.  The two that bug me the most are the home loss to Greensboro (their only win) where we blew a second-half 15-point lead and the OT loss at VW.  The Quakers led the Marlins 65-56 late and then also fouled on an inside basket by the Marlins that forced OT.

On the bright side, I think the head-to-head wins will factor in conference seeding come tournament time.

Massey Ratings has R-MC at #13 and an SOS of 67, Lynchburg at #26/SOS 158, and GC at #60/SOS 88.

Several big games tonight that could shake up the ODAC standings:  Roanoke at Guilford, Lynchburg at E&H, BC at VWU and W&L at EMU, among others.

In the Roanoke/GC game, someone will get a 2nd ODAC loss and in the W&L/EMU game, someone will get a 3rd.
