Final in Greensboro:  Guilford 67, E&H 60

The Quakers locked up sole possession of 2nd in the ODAC with a hard-fought win over the Wasps.  E&H can play and this could have gone either way until the last few minutes.  Emory & Henry will be a tough draw in the ODAC tournament.  As it stands now, the Quakers will play the winner of the 7/10 play-in game in the quarterfinals ... and it could well be E&H again.

GC is 18-6, 12-3 and E&H stands at 15-9, 8-7.

Roanoke beats Ferrum last night 72-59.  It was close until the beginning of the second half where Roanoke held a 10 point lead the entire time.

In other ODAC news yesterday:

Bridgewater won in OT at EMU 76-65
Virginia Wesleyan won at Shenandoah 86-75
Lynchburg won at Hampden Sydney 91-80
Washington and Lee beats Randolph down 93-66 (This game was tied at half)

Congrats to the Quakers on finishing at 2.  And, since the women's board here is so very quiet.... let's acknowledge that the Guilford Quakers currently lead the ODAC women (15-2) & will be hosted by the Jackets (12-5) on Saturday.  We're looking forward to seeing a great game & wishing them safe travels with some potential bad weather predicted for Sat.   GO JACKETS!!!!

Thanks, 2RMCFans.  At a combined 37-11, the Guilford men and women are having fine seasons.  Wishing for a well-played game versus the Yellow Jackets in Ashland on Saturday.  With no seniors, the GC women have exceeded expectations this season.  Congratulations to the YJ men ... I kept thinking they might falter another game in the ODAC, but they played strong.

I don't follow female sports because we don't have them but I'm glad RMC is doing well in those as well.

BTW, my God Daughter plays for the golf team @ RMC and I do follow that.

TFA2, we follow the golf teams, too.  Pretty awesome young golf coach working with them both.  Small world, huh?  We hope she is enjoying it here!

Best of luck to all ODAC sports' teams for this weekend... for the games that actually get played, that is.  Kinda sad we don't have the baseball opener happening here this weekend.  :-[

Wasn't able to watch the game, but if EMU was playing that zone (looks like they were since they only got whistled for 10 fouls) Luke Neeley took care of things going 8 of 10 from beyond the arc (not to mention Ian Robertson and Korey Tuner who combined made 5 of 7 threes).

Agree with you that a good run in the ODAC tournament (hopefully a championship) would be great and ought to result in a chance to host in the NCAAs.

Macon doesn't draw many fouls to begin with given all the jumpers they shoot. Opponents only commit an average of 15.1 fouls a game against R-MC and they rank last in the ODAC in free throws attempted per game at just 14.4.

^^^ I was unaware of those R-MC ft shooting stats. The definitely are not a "pound it inside and hope to get fouled" team.

It is now or never.

The last week of the Division III basketball regular season is here. Conferences will decide who will earn automatic bids to the NCAA Tournaments and teams try and position themselves for at-large bids, hosting opportunities, and bracketing considerations.

For teams who have been faltering, this is the last chance to right the ship. For programs which have underachieved, this is the last opportunity to live up to expectations. And of course for those with Cinderella dreams, this is the chance to try on the glass slipper.

Sunday's Hoopsville will cover it all in a special, extended, episode which for the first time (outside of Marathon programming) will feature a guest from each of the eight regions. We will also discuss which teams may be on the bubble, who has most likely secured at-large bid, and which teams need to win the AQs. Plus, we talk about how regions as we know it now could very well change in the future.

Hoopsville is presented by D3hoops.com and airs from the WBCA/NABC Studio. Sunday's show will hit the air at 6:00 p.m. ET. It can be watched live right here: http://bit.ly/2EeG5ZE (and simulcast on Facebook Live and Periscope).

Wow so in yesterday's news, Washington and Lee won at Guilford which made it that 4 teams were tied for 3rd  :o.  "Luckily" for Roanoke we were the worst of the 3rd place teams and are sitting at 6th in the ODAC tourney.  Roanoke has a tough draw against Lynchburg on Thursday. I will say that I've been disappointed in Roanoke's season especially after being voted preseason #1, but they do have a chance to redeem themselves in the ODAC tourney.

In other odac news yesterday:

Emory and Henry win at home against Hampden Sydney 83-42
Roanoke beat Bridgewater at home 64-81
Virginia Weselayn edges Ferrum in a tight one 77-75 (Very entertaining game and was tied with 3 minutes left)

Tomorrow the teams who play are:

Randolph at Bridgewater
EMU at Emory and Henry

Both on paper seem like they'll be entertaining games.

HSC will be back, it will take a different approach to recruiting and better in game decisions from the bench.

Good luck to your Quakers this week.
