Great night for the ODAC. I was following both games and for the longest time (more than halfway through the second half) they were remarkably similar score-wise. R-MC was finally able to pull away starting at the seven minute mark. York was a very good team, but like Morrisville last night not deep enough. They played one sub for 23 minutes and another for eight. Jackets were able to get 53 minutes from four players off the bench.

To contribute to the speculation about the site for next weekend, since Amherst and Nichols are both in Massachusetts my guess is that both R-MC and Swarthmore will head north, most likely to Amherst.

Since last year's national champs Nebraska Wesleyan lost tonight, Nichols (27-2 and ranked #14) will have the second best record of any team left in the tournament -- perhaps the best team no one is talking about.

But Amherst is the highest seeded team remaining in the pod,

Actually Randolph-Macon is ranked #5 and Amherst #7 in most recent D3 poll.  Swarthmore is ranked ahead of Amherst as well at #6. Macon and Amherst are both are #1 in their regional polls, South and Northeast respectively.  Swarthmore 2nd (Mid-Atlantic).

The Top 25 has nothing to do with anything at this point as you probably know.

This should go to Amherst, though we have seen it go elsewhere in the past ... I just don't see any reason RMC isn't at Amherst and Guilford isn't at Oshkosh.

I totally forgot the Top 25 rankings don't relate to playoff seeding. I guess I can hope for one of those headsctatcher decisions that has a less than remote chance of happening, to happen, resulting in Macon hosting.

Most important is that the Jackets and Quakers are still playing, prompting these conversations. I hope both are able to continue their success.

Right now the ODAC website has Swarthmore playing against Randolph Macon next.

Guilford will play the University of St. Thomas, which upset #1 ranked and defending champion Nebraska Wesleyan, 70-58.  The question is where ... in St. Paul, Oshkosh, Dubuque or, highly improbable, even Greensboro?

Right, that's the the bracket was set up. I guess we'll know where today or tomorrow.

Probably UW-Oshkosh...but could be Loras.

Definitely not Guilford or St. Thomas.

I understand why Guilford is out.  Why are you ruling out St. Paul?

Because we know for sure St. Thomas is seeded below Loras in the tournament.  See final West regional rankings - https://www.d3hoops.com/notables/2019/02/men-regional-rankings-final.  And Loras could host with the same amount of flights as St. Thomas.  So Loras has to be above St. Thomas for hosting.

In his 16 years at Guilford, this is Coach Palombo's sixth trip to the NCAA tournament with the following results:

2007 - 3-1
2008 - 0-1
2009 - 5-1  Final Four, 3rd place
2010 - 4-1  Final Four
2017 - 1-1
2019 - 2-0  TBD

Total   15-5

^^^ That's impressive. I expect Macedo's record is similar.

Any VWU fan want to look it up?  I know he had 6-0 and 5-1 records back-to-back.
