Guilford 87, Greensboro 75.  I caught part of the 2nd half from about the 13 minute mark to the 4 minute mark. Kind of hard to tell much because of the camera placement. When I tuned in Guilford was up by six. They pushed it to about 18 then apparently gave a little back at the end. Hopefully hasanova was there and can give us a good report. The box score shows non-starter Tyler Dearman with 24 points and impressive shooting percentages plus 8 rebounds in 22 minutes of action.
I was there and Guilford played well ... with a few lapses that made it appear closer than it really was.  The Quakers never trailed and led by as many as 19, but gave up a few runs that allowed Greensboro to cut it to 4.  Freshman Tyler Dearborn from nearby Southern Guilford HS played quite well and scored inside and out.  He is joined by fellow freshman and HS teammate Julius Burch who also had significant minutes.  Kyler Gregory was strong, but was hampered by foul trouble ... I think he sat out the last 7 minutes of the first half.  Liam Ward and the other starters all played solidly.  I am impressed by Jorden Davis from Durham Academy, who transferred to GC from Roanoke.  I believe Guilford deserves its national ranking and will continue to improve.

Any word on why Lamont Steward hasn't played in VWU's first two games and is not even listed on their roster? Marlins seem to be doing ok so far but that is a big loss if he's not playing this year.

Roanoke picks up their first win of the season beating Goucher 88-50.

Only got to watch the first half of R-MC vs Ursinus. I'd figured this game would be tougher than the two last weekend. Ursinus was 15-11 last season playing in the conference with Johns Hopkins and national runner-up Swarthmore who eliminated R-MC in the NCAA tournament last March. Jackets came away with a 54-50 win. A tough defensive battle in the first half, although the Jackets got some good shots that didn't fall.

The only other ODAC winners tonight: Roanoke (mentioned above) and Guilford. E&H and EMU both get thumped by D3 competition and Randolph by D1 Longwood.

Guilford 60, UMHB 52 in Greensboro

Very physical game tonight against a quick and tough Crusader squad (they were 21-6 in 2018-19).  Quakers jumped out to a 14-4 lead and led 23-20 at the half.  UMHB took a second half lead at 46-40, but GC then had a 15-0 run to take the lead for good.  Kyler Gregory with 19 points and 12 boards for the Quakers and Sam Moore with 18 for UMHB (he had 42 in their opener vs Schreiner).  Achilles Heel for the Quakers was 16 missed FTs ... must do better!

I just noticed that both the R-MC men's and women's teams play AT W&L on Wednesday at the same time in the same venue. Something in the gray matter of my brain recalls jknezek mentioning separate men's and women's courts there at some point. I guess this must be the season that happens. Will this be the new pattern for schools with both gender's hoops teams? Certainly makes sense from a travel and timing standpoint. From a W&L fan viewing standpoint, however, it forces a choice.

W&L is still playing on temporary courts in their indoor tennis facility.

What will the new permanent arrangement be, when completed?

Roanoke beats York (PA) at home today 74-59.  Game was close until the 9 minute mark in the second half when RC went on a run.  Also RIP to Coach Charlie Moir who passed away Thursday.  Coach Moir led RC to its only mens national basketball championship in 1972. Coach Moir was a great guy I had the privilege of meeting him while his son coached at RC.

It's only posted on the Messiah website so far. R-MC downs Messiah 63-50. I was following live stats while at a live game. Like the Roanoke game mentioned above, this one was close until the latter part of the second half when the Jackets went on a 18-0 run to go up by 16 with about 2:30 left. Sophomore Ian Robertson led the Jackets in scoring with 17. Freshman Miles Mallory had a double-double -- 12 pts, 10 rebs.

The game was not live streamed. I'm guessing that is because Messiah is hosting the first round of the women's soccer tournament, which they were live streaming. R-MC was playing there and downed Haverford 2-0. But tomorrow they will face Messiah, which won its game 5-0. Over the past decade or more Messiah has been one of the best women's soccer programs in the country, winning several national championships. It seems quite possible that the Jackets will suffer their first loss of the season and finish at 21-1-1. But who knows, maybey they will surprise me. Either way its been a great season for the R-MC women's soccer program.

If the original plan goes on as scheduled, the plan was to have it ready by sometime this upcoming summer.

H-SC has looked quite a bit better than last year, but that is a pretty low bar to clear to begin with. They actually have had a pretty efficient offense thus far ... except when they are turning it over, which is quite a lot. Though I think some of that is correctable as the freshman PG is playing way too fast and out of control and a couple other are trying to do too much.

There will be plenty of losses because there is a long hill to climb from that state the program was left in when Kimbrough took over, but it's nice to see the team competing and playing hard which was a rare sight last year.

And Tharon Suggs, the former E&H player, just dropped 50 tonight for Lynchburg :o

Scottgull

Ive watched him play 3 games this year and he has been outstanding all the way around. He is definitely a spark to the Lynchburg program.

So Roanoke lost to Methodist last week by 3. Yesterday I saw HSC was up 11 points against Methodist at halftime.  Like you said turnovers are killing HSC, but that is something that is correctable, they definitely seem more competitive than last year.
