HUGE game in Crenshaw today for the Jackets vs CNU!! YJ CLUB calling for a "YELLOW SWARM" from the fans! Being in retail and it's Christmas I can't get up to Crenshaw much this time of year but will watch on the computer!! LETS GO JACKETS!! Hope "Section 33" is ROCKIN!!

It was, indeed, a huge game -- and a great one for the Jackets as it turned out. After being tied at 21 the Jackets went on a run to close the first half up 34-23 (I think -- doing this from memory). CNU got as close as 8 in the second half, but great team defense and shooting kept the Captains at arms length until another run put the game out of reach. Final score was 79-62. Super games from Buzz Anthony and Miles Mallory, but an all around terrific team win. I feel more comfortable now with R-MC's top 10 ranking.

Tiger Mic

Hampden-Sydney evened up its league record with a tight win over Shenandoah yesterday at home.  This was HSC's first ODAC win since winning at SU over a year ago.  The Hornets have been bitten by the injury bug, but they played very well in the first half and had a six point lead at halftime.  The Tigers got it going in the second half and held on for the win despite shooting below 50% from the line.  Southern VA comes to HSC on Saturday, and the Tigers will go for three straight wins.

Indeed a great game for the Jackets! Listening to Coach Merkel on the radio after the game this break will be a great time for the Jackets to pick up some more steam going into the meat of their season! Off for exams and dont play again until after Christmas on Dec 29th in Crenshaw at the Coaches Tournament vs Lebanon Valley( Mike Rhoades' old school). Also -VWC has a date with CNU soon  in the Fish Tankand we'll see how that one plays out. VWC beat Guilford over the weekend( don't know if one would classify that one as an "Upset" or not) Don't EVER count the Marlins out or sell them short- ALWAYS great competitors and capable of  beating ANYONE on any given day- well coached and TOUGH. Hard to tell how this season will play out so far.....ANYTHING could happen!

Happy Monday folks,

Got a chance to watch the Marlins this weekend and I was very impressed. They looked very deep and had a lot of players who looked capable of scoring in bunches. What was surprising to me is that last years first team all ODAC kid daniel spencer came off the bench for the Marlins. Did not expect that nut he played very well for them. Seems to really fit their style of play. Was a lot of fouls called as 3 VWU players fouled out but it was a great game to watch. Both teams look very talented and should be playing in March. kyler gregory for guilford is a definite stud. He looks like he has put on some muscle and is very hard to guard. Looking forward to another tight ODAC race this year. @hasa what was your take on the game

In the category of "Comparative Scores Are Meaningless" -- Guilford beat Averett on 11/20, Averett beat VWU on 11/23, so VWU should not have beat Guilford on Saturday.

Sorry for the delay.  Busy week and had not signed on recently.  VW definitely has a talented team, but GC did not play their best.  The Quakers shot 2/18 on threes and, I think, the Marlins were 8/22.  Kyler Gregory has put on a lot of muscle and is, as you said, a beast.  He shot 12/19 vs Roanoke last Wednesday, but he struggled against VW with 3/13 ... he was doubled up a lot, but shots would not fall that he normally makes inside.  There were some odd officiating calls in this game ... it was, in my opinion, sporadic.  Congratulations to the Marlins, but I think GC will come back with a renewed purpose after exams.

Emory and Henry loses to Bethany on a shot at the buzzer... the ball was clearly in Bethany shooter's hands when clock read 0.0.... Game should have gone to OT
The only thing not to be liked in Florida is no D3 hoops!!!

Not the greatest test to determine rustiness -- or lack of --  but the Jackets started off hot, built a comfortable lead and basically looked pretty good except for a stretch in the second half. Final scors: 94-56. Buzz Anthony with a triple-double of 16 pts, 11 rebs, 10 asts. Announcers were trying to determine if any previous R-MC player had a triple double. They were unable to say definitively, but couldn't think of or find one in their search. Final word to come from sports information staff.

Bummer for E&H, losing to a previously winless team that way.
