First Regional Rankings are out: https://www.d3hoops.com/notables/2020/02/men-regional-rankings-first
They ranked Freakin EMORY ahead of us???? REALLY????

This doesn't surprise me. I saw Emory play at Wash U two weekends ago. They are very good. I haven't seen R-MC live and I know there is a huge difference in perception between seeing a team live vs online. So R-MC would likely come across better if I could see them play live , but I would say this is a valid ranking.

Remember ... there is no such thing of the "eye test", as we call it.

The committee and others are ranking on how they see the team perform online or in person.

Sure, they may know them well, but the criteria doesn't allow it basically because we can't expect any committee member to have seen every team they need to consider.

So two upsets tonight as E&H beats Roanoke and Ferrum secures a season sweep of Guilford. Guilford has to be the most disappointing team in the league this year after winning the ODAC Tournament last year. 6-6 with four games left and three could very easily be losses.
Quakers improved to 16-7, 8-6 ... passed the Lynchburg test on the road 75-60 ... and without Kyler Gregory,
This Guilford team makes less than zero sense. They couldn't compete with W&L, looked like a JV team against Macon, and got swept by Ferrum (though Ferrum is a decent team, not intended to be a knock on them), but can compete with VWU, beat Emory, and manhandles Lynchburg and didn't even need their best player in that game
I agree ... the fans don't know which team will show up.  On paper, we ought to be 19-4 or 20-3.   All I know, however, Coach Palombo often has his team ready to make a run in the final month.

I would certainly expect them to go deep into the ODAC tournament....Like Coach Macedo, ALWAYS fear the Quakers in late February!

Pretty good chance the seeding in Salem will be 1. Macon, 2. VA Wesleyan, 3. Wash Lee.

The rest is so cluttered with 2 or 3 games to play. The fight to get to 10th place and into the ODAC tourney and then the fight for 4th-6th to avoid the play in game should be fun to watch down the stretch.

W&L coming into  Crenshaw in the Center of the Universe today for Senior Day today! Should be a heckuva ballgame! Good Luck to our Seniors Corey Bays, Korey Turner, and  Kent Kilgroe today! You've certainly followed in the footsteps of those before you and made us proud as members of a very special group of Randolph=Macon Gentlemen in our Basketball program!

W&Ls big chance to finally crack the top 25. Going to take a big, big upset. But if you can shoot 50%+ from 3 and shoot 40 3s anything is possible.

Jackets take the Gennies 72-50 in Crenshaw! Close until the last 8 minutes!! Gennies have a team capable to beating anybody !! Nicely done Jackets and our Seniors went out winners! Hopefully it won't be their last game in Crenshaw though!!

RMC stifled the Generals offense and shut them down from 3 pts. I'd say too many turnovers and missed shots for the Generals, but that was RMC's defense forcing the action.  Truly a gifted team in Crenshaw. Hope the Generals get another crack at them in the tournament!

Thought this weekends three point contest was going to be in Chicago for NBA's all star Saturday night but apparently it got moved to Greensboro as two characteristically bad three point shooting teams combined to go 29-66

Good point, as Guilford went 17/34 (50%) and HSC was 12/32 (37.5%).

WOW!!
Didn't see that coming!

Yeah, been a tough season.  Glad to see they've got something to build on.

Congrats to R-MC on a good win over a good team yesterday. Wish I could have followed it. That coupled with the VWU loss assures the Jackets of the #1 ODAC tourney seed, which is both meaningful and meaningless. Seems there's nothing tougher than tournament hoops with the chance to keep playing on the line.
