EMU falls to Radford in their opener 83-60.  You can see stats here https://radfordathletics.com/sidearmstats/mbball/media

I saw the stats, but how did EMU look? Was it close at all?

The VWU vs NC Wesleyan game in the Fish Tank got off to a slow start with the score 13-9 VWU after 8 minutes. Then the Marlins found a rhythm offensively and defensively and built a 16 point halftime lead, but were unable to extend it in the second half. NCWC cut the deficit to 9 points with about 4:30 to play, but couldn't get any closer. Final score was 80-69. NCWC's #4 was a very good player.

Not sure.  I saw Radford scored about the same against E&H but the Wasps scored 12 more against Radford.   EMU also fell to Southern VA by three.  Looks like newcomer Michael Watlington, 6-6 FY player from Newport News had a pretty good game there with 13 points.

R-MC fortunate to get the win over Mary Washington 57-53. Jackets trailed only once at 4-2, but let an 18 point lead early in the second half slip to only 2 with just under a minute left. Both teams were cold from beyond the arc, making only 6 of 35 combined. R-MC is going to need more offensive production from players other than Anthony and Mallory.

Roanoke beat Eastern University  85-58 tonight.  There was a good turnout for the game and was very loud.  Roanoke's defense was on point and Eastern rarely got a open shot in the first half.  Hopefully this style of play keeps up for Roanoke.

Roanoke plays against #3 Marietta today at 3pm.  Should be a good game.

Roanoke beats #3 Marietta 77-68 at home.  RC were up by 15 for awhile but Marietta fought back and made it close.  Very good start to the season for Roanoke, we have the potential to be a really good team this season.

Roanoke wins in a nail bitter at home against Methodist 65-63.  RC had big problems with Methodist's full court press. They need to figure it out, with teams seeing this game I expect more full court presses coming.

In other ODAC news

Guilford wins @ Greensboro 57-51

Ferrum wins at home against Averett 67-66

Hampden Sydney demolishes Southern Virginia 100-70

Shenandoah loses @ Catholic 62-75

Yesterday -- R-MC 88, Emory 74. The difference in this game was the first 4 1/2 minutes when the Jackets made six of their first seven shots and Emory missed its first six to give R-MC a 12-0 lead. The Jackets did build a 23 point lead over the next 12 minutes but Emory started to chip away just before halftime cutting it to 10 about five minutes into the second half, but never got closer. It was a good team win for R-MC with lots of contributors, but Buzz Anthony and David Funderburg both had career scoring highs with 32 and 18 respectively. If these two teams were to play again I would rate it a toss up. Emory was very good

Macon

Jackets have a very productive weekend, beating two very good teams and programs.  A balanced attack and typical defensive effort paves the way to two wins.  Two teams that Macon may see again later this year.  Congrats to Marietta and Emory going forward.

Lynchburg downed CNU this afternoon 83-66. I watched most of the 2nd half. CNU just seemed sluggish. Their coach got two technicals so had to leave the floor. U of L has a junior transfer guard from D2 Barton, Cameron Savage, who had a great game with 20 points an 4 assists.

I wasn't able to watch most of R-MC at Marietta yesterday but was able to keep my eye on the score. Jackets started out well and had an 18-8 lead after 7 1/2 minutes, then only managed to score five points the rest of the half and trailed 24-23 at halftime. The second half was a different story for both teams, with R-MC outscoring Marietta 59-50 for a final of 82-74.
