Va. Wesleyan erases an 18 point halftime deficit to down CNU at the buzzer 77-76. Wish I could have watched the second half, though there are comments on the Top 25 Talk board that the VWU streaming camera didn't catch the game winning shot. Guess the camera operator got caught up in the excitement of the game and forgot to pan to the other end of the court after CNU had made a bucket with five seconds remaining to go up 76-75.

Fortunately, there was a reporter from the Virginian Pilot, the daily newspaper for Norfolk, VA, who caught the game winning shot at press row with his video camera.  It was a coast to coast driving layup buzzer beater.  The reporter's feed is now posted on the Top 25 talk board, and has been up on Twitter since last night.

Christopher Newport has been missing their top defender, Trey Barber, for the past few games.

I will be catching the Cregger Invitational on video stream on December 29 and 30, and I am hoping that NYU beats Hanover from the HCAC on the 29th so that the Violets get a contest with Roanoke.

Thanks or that info.

Roanoke with a big win today beating a good Berry College team 82-76.  RC was down by 10 almost the entire second half and made a big comeback around 5 minutes left in the game.  RC tied the game with 6 seconds left and forced overtime.  RC would take over in overtime and seal it at the free throw line.

The officaiting was interesting as there were some strange no calls both ways.  Berry traveled quite a bit particuarly in the second half (with few called) and RC would get touch fouls (which were called) and then coliber a guy with no call.  Hopefully it can be more consistent tomorrow when RC plays Transylvania.

^^^ That Was the first loss of the season for Berry.

R-MC had no trouble with Merchant Marine last night, but plays #23 Stockton this afternoon.

Roanoke beats Transylvania today 75-67.  Pretty good game overall from RC, I was surprised to see Transylvania is only 4-5.

Also, H-SC beat Berry, so the Marion's and Tigers each won both their games at the Music City Classic since the Tigers downed Transy yesterday.

Also, R-MC won easily this afternoon over #23 Stockton.

ODAC is looking good. Looking at the past couple of days scores Hampden Sydney looks to be a really good team. The ODAC this year could be a toss up.

^^^ Should definitely be a competitive ODAC race this season.

Massey has the ODAC rated 7th out of 49 D3 conferences: https://masseyratings.com/cb/ncaa-d3/ratings?c=1

For those not on Twitter (or those who are but haven't seen this), embedded in this Tweet is a short video of an amazing game winning shot in the waning seconds by Buzz Anthony for his German team Uni Baskets Paderborn. As one person commented, the shot shows an amazing grasp of geometry and physics. It also shows an amazing awareness that it was the only possible shot against a defender 8-10 inches taller.

I was a little worried about yesterday's game with a 9-1 Bridgewater State squad, but the Quakers absolutely blasted the Bears 98-45 on very hot shooting including 17 made threes.  BSU only scored 11 2nd half points.  Guilford faces Centre today.

Please no more Buzz highlights. I just instantly think about all of the times he torched my Maroons.

In other news RC won yesterday beating Methodist 94-55.  Today RC got destroyed at home against New York University 81-59.  NYU is 11-0 and just watching some of the game it was easy to tell why. NYU shot 50% from the field and made 18/35 3s :o.  Hopefully RC can turn it around in their next game against EMU.

^^^ I'll honor your request to not post anymore Buzz highlights. I wouldn't have known about it if it hadn't been making the rounds on Twitter.

About NYU. Like Roanoke they've been getting some top 25 votes and they are #13 in the Massey Ratings. However, their SOS is only 300. The win against RC (#20 in Massey with a 135 SOS) will surely get them more votes. But will there be enough for them to crack the top 25?

Yesterday against Maryville R-MC looked sharp at times and sloppy at others. Fortunate to get the win. Big game from Miles Mallory.

Jackets need to play at a high level to beat the Tigers in their house!! Don't know if the students are back yet but if they are it's gonna be one helluva loud place!! It's been a while since this rivalry has been close and I saw the first meeting so I can tell you with relative confidence that they have a darn good chance of upsetting us! If our play at the point position continues to improve I think we have a pretty good shot but if they get ahead of us and the crowd gets rowdy WATCH OUT!! Should be a good game regardless!! Go JACKETS!!!

Your question has been answered, and the answer is yes.  NYU broke in at #18 in this week's Top 25 poll just released today, with 175 points.
