^^^  I'm pulling for you, but HSC seems to be improving with every game.  Good Luck!

Yes they are Macon and its been good to see! Its really been no fun with them in a tailspin but with their new coach he seems to have them pointed in the right direction! They are improving and the ODAC tournament should be very interesting to watch. We may have two or possibly three teams to make the "Dance" this year! That's good for EVERYBODY!

As we approach the end of the regular season, there are three tiers in the ODAC standings, RMC/RC/HSC/GC in the top tier; five in the middle at about .500; and four clearly in the bottom tier (only beating each other).  I got to believe that RMC is in the NCAA regardless, with RC/HSC/GC fighting for what I hope are two NCAA slots with HSC currently in the better position.  Key to this competition will be if either or both RC or GC can get a win over RMC at the end of the regular season.  A win by either team will give them a leg up entering the ODAC tourney.

Not disputing the tiering since W&L has lost to everyone in the top tier, but the Generals could easily win 4 of their last 5 and finish 11-5 in the conference. They had a rough start to conference play facing H-SC, R-MC, and RC all before the New Year. Then the ugly loss at Guilford shortly after was a bad look. I think the last regular season game hosting H-SC will be interesting to see if they can make a splash in the ODAC Tournament.  My sense is they could get an upset or two if they can carry some momentum on the way in. We will see if they can win the games they should win before the Tournament.

I also think there's a path to a NCAA bid for each top tier team without the ODAC championship.   Not so for everyone else including WLU.

Only way RC gets the NCAA bid is we'd have to beat a ranked Hampden Sydney and Randolph Macon.  We couldn't have any bad losses and couldn't lose in the first round of the odac tourney.  I'm a big fan but don't really see this scenairo being able to happen.

Yep, that's your path.  May not be easy or plausible, but it's a path without an ODAC championship.  Step 1:  Beat HSC.

Step 1= Fail

RC loses at home against HSC 57-51.  Offense for RC in the first half was pretty bad only putting up 21 points.  HSC kept a 8-10 point lead for most of the game.  HSC is a great team just sucks RC once again can't beat another ranked team.

In other ODAC news:

VWU loses at Bridgewater 54-52

Randolph loses big at Averett 41-62

Ferrum loses at Randolph Macon 70-85

Shenandoah wins in a close one at Lynchburg  87-86

EMU gets beat bad at Guilford 54-80

^^^ In the R-MC/Ferrum game, only seven players (of 18 on the roster) saw action for Ferrum and only four scored, one of whom had four points. So, 66 of Ferrum's 70 points came from three players. Two of the players played all 40 minute -- both D2 transfers who are very good shooters and are 2nd and 4th in the ODAC in scoring. Ferrum actually outscored R-MC in the second half 40-39. That's a lot of points for a team to put up against the Jackets in 20 minutes. Final score was 85-70.

I caught the end of the Shenandoah at Lynchburg game. Really exciting finish, with SU winning on a buzzer beater.

Seatfiller, that game could easily have swung the other way.  The Maroons just missed a few open looks and free throws.  The difference was some bench players for the Tigers hitting a few 3s in the first half.  Other than that, the defense of both teams was excellent and easy baskets were rare.

NEW POLL OUT.....Jackets picking up more votes in 1st place.....not that it really matters.....Guilford at 16....HSC at 18.... Not sure I agree with that because of what happened head to head last week.....but polls are just opinions....like noses and a****les everybody's got one....lol. They ARE very closely matched. Had the game been at Ragen Brown the outcome could have been quite different!

I wrestled with HSC vs Guilford after the head to head.  Seven point win at home is really quite even and I think Guilford's been a bit more consistent through the year.  I kept them on top for now, but that's largely subjective at this point.

Should be in interesting game tonite in "The Fish Tank" in Va Beach! HSC has played really well on the road lately and VWC is  hot and cold but very well coached. The Marlins can be dangerous, especially if they hit a few 3's and the crowd gets into it and the Batten Center starts rocking! I would expect a Tigers win, but if they are a little bit off they could get upset!! Interesting game this evening!!

RMC wins by 55 points, with 61 points off the bench.  Here's a stat that I'm not sure I've often seen, every RMC player in uniform scored.  Good to see some of the freshmen that have not played much.

I've thought about this myself over the last month or so.  There are clearly three tiers in the league.  The ODAC tournament is fraught with danger for the Top Tier, but hope the ODAC can send at least three squads to the NCAA tournament.
