2nd regional rankings out.... RMC 1st, then CNU, then Mary  Wash, then HSC.... Guilford at 7.... Ouch! The W&L loss really hurt the Tiggers.....

^^^ I like the 'Tiggers', isn't Tigger a Disney character?  This regional mystifies me, two teams with 5 overall losses each (two each to RMC) and they're below 7 and 8 loss teams?  What am I missing?

Admit it, Macon fans, you were biting your nails in the 2nd half of both games versus GC.  :)

The first game was a nailbiter from start to finish. The largest lead by either team was seven points. Saturday's game was a different story. Given R-MC's 17 point halftime lead, the nail biting didn't start until about five minutes into the second half.
And GC had the 7 point lead.  :(

Yes, they did. And I just ran through the box score again. There was a brief span of 16 seconds when GC had a nine point lead, which I missed first time through.

Friday's quarterfinals:

Ferrum vs R-MC
W&L vs Roanoke
VWU vs H-SC
BC vs GC

I watched much of the first half of Ferrum at Averett last night. There was some excellent defense being played by both teams, but Ferrum's big scorer, Hicks, put up 17 of FC's 29 points. Didn't watch the 2nd half, but the box score shows Ferrum's other main scoring threat, Washington, with 12 of his 18 points after the break while Hicks was held to 8. Ferrum's ten point halftime lead was just enough to hang on for a four point win, 60-56.

VWU won convincingly over Shenandoah, 80_52

Ther are no easy games above. Good luck to all.

Our women's team was seeded #2 and was upset by #7 seed Shenandoah by nine yesterday....ANYTHING can happen! This is where MADNESS gets its name! NOBODY is safe from the upset gremlin - you can bet there will be AT LEAST one today on the mens side  if things happen as they usually do- THAT ESPECIALLY INCLUDES our Jackets! Another game to watch is the HSC- VWC game.....Dave Macedo ALWAYS has his teams ready.....and don't count out those Gennies from W & L either....They and  Roanoke have been "Jeckyl and Hyde" all year! That should also be a good one! Gonna be an interesting day! GO JACKETS!

^^^ I watched most of that women's game yesterday. After the first quarter the Jackets were outplayed. As you say, anything can happen.

The unstated part of your comment about today's quarterfinals seems to be that you don't think Bridgewater is likely to upset Guilford. I feel the same way. But what if that's wrong?

I just feel Hasa's Quakers have a chip on their shoulder and are probably the most dangerous team in the field, a "Wounded Bull", to coin a phrase. I'm certainly not taking anything away from Bridgewater, they are certainly equally capable of the upset, but I think the proverbial "carrot on the stick" for Guilford is the opportunity to both play and beat a HSC team that they lost to earlier and also to get another shot at our Jackets( providing we win through of course)who they REALLY want to beat .....PLUS it would punch their ticket to the NCAA's! I was gonna go with my son to meet a bunch of R-MC friends tomorrow but he was out of town all this week on the west coast for work( hes a HSC 2020 grad) PLUS the fact that the finals are at 345 PM Sunday in SALEM( a 4.5 hr drive for us), which for us is either stay an extra night after the game or get home at midnight or after, which isn't for me or my son this week! Ill watch from the comfort of my home and hope for hosting and THEN go see my Jackets in the NCAA's in ALWAYS CRAZY AND RAUCOUS  Crenshaw GYM!

^^^ Must be interesting for your family when the Jackets and Tigers are playing each other in any sport.

It's not too bad- especially lately when we pretty much have OWNED them in Football and Basketball the last 10 years.... He's a good kid... had a 3.87GPA in Physics Engineering and Applied Mathematics which landed him a good job at The US Naval Weapons Center in Dahlgren where his immediate boss is... guess what?..... A MACON GRAD! Lol!! No he actually goes with me A LOT to Crenshaw to games.... He loves how crazy it gets!! On another note...... Jackets survive and advance in a game that was seldom pretty but WE'LL TAKE IT!! Save the pretty ones for later!! Either team is capable of upsetting us!! Just glad this one is OVER!! Daniel Mbangue with a big game today!! Good effort for a GREAT young man!! GO JACKETS!!

Always good to keep it civil, hope the Jackets win, but be happy for your son if they don't.

Sounds like he's off to a great start after college.

I tried to interest my son in R-MC back in 2004 when he was getting serious about college, but he wanted to go somewhere in New York City and ended up at Fordham.

Amazing 4 OT game between Roanoke and W&L. RC could have won multiple times earlier but couldn't hit free throws.

Yes, it should.

Roanoke was 2-8 from the free throw line in the 2nd OT and 1-6 in the 3rd OT.

As a RC fan it was a good win but Washington and Lee should've won with the number of dumb mistakes Roanoke made at crucial times.  The last shot in regulation that Roanoke had was one of the dumbest things I've seen at the end of a game in a long time.  We have the ball with 11 seconds left, game is tied and we shoot a 3 while be well defended and fading away. The 3 misses bad and  W and L gets the ball and pushes it up to half court where they barely missed a shot off of the back of the rim.  I won't even go into more of the dumb things that we did in the OTs.

I'm happy RC won but if we do the dumb things we did today against RMC tomorrow we stand NO chance and it will get ugly.  Hopefully the seniors on this team remind the team that it's been a very long time since we've beaten RMC and need to come out with high energy to stand a chance against them.
