Ryan, I'm totally disgusted that you're bringing facts into this conversation.  ;D  ;D

Quote from: Ryan Scott (Hoops Fan) on March 03, 2024, 02:34:14 PMAnd there no "evil NCAA."  The schools in d3 make these rules.  Yes, if the larger body had voted a higher percentage to d3 last year, as was requested, some of these cost savings issues might've gone away.  This is how we work with the limited budget that exists.

Well, that takes some of the fun out of the NCAA bashing. But, hey, what are we going to do if we don't have something to complain about and someone to blame it on. Besides, the people in the NCAA are all big boys and girls, so they should be able to handle a little momentary outrage and criticism from those of us who are otherwise supportive.

Hey Guys, if Ryan says that he's sorry (for submitting facts), I think we should accept his apology.

Looking forward to the Patreon release of D3DataCast this evening.  The Snyder brothers are both Calvin alums and their computer has been favorable to RMC this year.  They've been very positive of RMC as well.  Looking for their analysis of the Calvin/RMC matchup!

My quick first look at Calvin is their size.  RMC will see their first good big man this season.  Will be interesting how RMC counters their size.

I'm obviously pleased Guilford is hosting.  I was fully expecting a road trip, so I was pleasantly surprised when news started to trickle in last night.

Guilford just played two of their best games.  They're ticked off from last season and seem to be highly motivated.  I think they'll make a deep run.

Go Quakers!  Go Jackets!  Go Tigers!

Actually, this happens 100% of the time -- when the travel can be cheaper in a sectional, they put it in a place where the travel will be cheaper.

I agree.... Ryan if I was a little harsh I apologize.... Not your fault.... You're just the messenger of neutral facts! This may even end up being a GOOD THING for our young guys to see how they stack up under different circumstances! Still don't agree but we can agree to disagree.... lol No malice intended

The Jackets travel is totally predictable, given the NCAA's "500-mile rule" and the distance from Tufts to Macon.

Trinity is a heavy favorite over their NESCAC opponen, having already defeated Tufts by good margins twice this year, so I expect the Elite Eight game on Saturday will be Trinity vs. RMC/Calvin.

One more thing and I'll be quiet about this....Everyone should note that the NCAA travel distance expense explanation for Macon having to go to CT doesn't make sense.  Two of the teams coming to HSC this week have to fly (coming from California and Nebraska). NO DIRECT FLIGHTS...So Ryan that explanation that had anything been different HSC would have gone on the road just doesent hold water!if they were looking at a less expensive option flying two teams into Richmond and busing then 20 minutes( at most) into Ashland is certainly cheaper than busing them 2-2.5 hrs to FarmVille with much less hotel space available.... Just saying! It's not JUST about $$$!PLUS JetBlue ( discount airline) flys DIRECT INTO RIC from Boston, Breeze air( discount) flys direct from Hartford, and there's a direct flight from Detroit on Delta- ALL CHEAPER THAN BUSING.

The D3DataCast computer has RMC 8.5 points favorites plus 77% win projection over Calvin.  I see it as more of a toss-up game.  It will be interesting to see how one of the best defenses defends a 6-10 center.

Go Jackets!!

The budget doesn't recognize that and doesn't work that way. Although the cost of busing is high, let's be honest -- you have to rent a bus. Whether you drive it 15 miles or a hundred, it's not going to be significantly different. You still rent the bus for a time and hire a driver for time.

Whether or not " the budget just doesent work that way" it's still cheaper and if it was just a $$$ issue it would have made more sense Pat- that was exactly my point- it's not just a $$ issue! Playing at home with a freshman heavy team- especially at Crenshaw Gym- is significantly different than sending them on the road to play a lower seeded team and if it's not just about $$$ then what is it about??? LONG RANT OVER

This is not part of the criteria.

You keep claiming to be done ranting. Please live up to that claim.

I didn't say it was part of the criteria.... Just part of the REASON- and telling the truth and pointing out that their reasoning does not hold water is not ranting...... it's simply pointing out the obvious to everyone else who isn't toeing the " party line". I know it doesent change anything... but it does tell the truth- which is more than I've heard the last 36 hours.
