They hosted an all-campus meeting to address the employees about it.

They said the layoffs were effective by end of the day and they had until 5 pm to collect their belongings and turn in their ID and keys

And how did they elect to notify each individual who was getting laid off? By reading off all their names from a list in front of everyone at the meeting.

Man that's rough. I don't think any Professor there should feel safe with job security.

The joke landed fine - I just wanted to know if your line worked for you.

As they say, the stories get better and better as they age.

Quote from: y_jack_lok on May 20, 2024, 09:03:49 AMMatt and Zac Snyder, who do the D3 Datacast, reviewed the strength of the conferences after the '23-'24 season and put them into five tiers. They ranked the ten conferences they included in Tier #1 and concluded that the ODAC was the #1 conference this past season. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NnCr-L1OSSU

Should be "every season".  Seriously our teams who just miss the tourney each year have the potential to go deep in the NCAA tourney every year.
Problem with the ODAC is always the bottom of the standings. There's seemingly always at least a couple teams that are just abysmal and drag down the ODAC.

If I remember correctly that Davidson Hubbard entered the transfer portal.  Did he find a roster spot?

As of May 20th, not according to NESCAC 1 over on the
Multi-Regional Topics board.

^^^  Thanks, I'm surprised that Davidson hasn't found a home.  I wish him luck in doing so.

Maybe this has been previously reported, but Will Coble (RMC) will be a graduate student player at App State.  But what's even more interesting is that App State has three graduate players this fall, all of whom are Davidson Day School graduates.

Having lived in that area a number of years this comes as no surprise because the coach during these players' time was Ron Johnson.  Ron is one of the finest coaches I have ever had the pleasure of knowing.  He is presently the coach at Providence Day School in Charlotte.

That level of D1 is an odd fit for him. A 6'5" D3 stretch 5 who didn't shoot the three particularly well. There's only going to be four players on the roster smaller than him. I'm sure he won't end up being anything more than a practice player because they are loaded at the guard spots (and they have him listed as a guard on the roster), but still an odd fit.

He said, in the announcement interview with Bob Quillman, that Baylor was looking for a veteran locker room presence, not so much a player.  He'll definitely play hard in whatever context he sees the floor (likely practice and at the end of blowouts), but he'll be great for the team.

Given that Hubbard graduated from H-S and likely achieved most of his college basketball goals (with the exception of a national championship), perhaps he was looking for a totally different experience for his last year of eligibility. He will certainly get that in Waco. He won't see the court much, but he will certainly enjoy the experience of being a member of a top tier D-1 program in a top 3 D-1 conference.

From the same interview, he was going to pursue playing overseas until this opportunity came up very late in the process.  A year of grad school for free, plus first class travel all over the country and getting to experience all the amenities of basketball at a power school.  Very cool last chapter, for sure.
