I keep thinking Tom Palumbo is going to get those guys to mesh.

Well, looks like I got that wrong. Guilford 79 - Bridgewater 56.

RMC vs UWSP was everything you could want in a basketball game, unless you like a lot of scoring. Final was RMC 51, UWSP 50. Both teams play disciplined basketball on both ends of the floor. In fact, there are a lot of similarities in the way they play. The game could have gone either way. It's not likely to hurt UWSP's spot in the Top 25, but should give RMC a boost in the eyes of the voters. RMC is making strides on defense. It was hard to tell if the Jacket's offense is improving because the Pointers are so good defensively. But the Jackets did miss a couple of the rare open three-pointers they got, possibly affected by being in an unfamiliar arena. Free throw shooting continues to be an issue for too many RMC players.

Great win for the Jackets.  The Tigers sure took it on the chin from John Carroll.  Retribution for last year, I suppose.  H-SC shot poorly and weren't very successful on defense.

In addition to yesterday's previously mentioned games (GC/BC, RMC/UWSP, H-SC/JCU), Shenandoah got a 21 point win over Elizabethtown, Roanoke got a 20 point win over Montclair State, an W&L Lost by 15 to Eastern.

Today H-SC and W&L switch opponents (Eastern and John Carroll) and Roanoke plays Coast Guard.

This will likely not go well for a rebuilding W&L team...

The Tigers bounce back this afternoon with 95-74 win over Eastern.  In the first half, the Eagles played Adam Brazil extremely physically, crossing the line at times.  An annoyed Brazil responded with 20 first half points, finishing with 29.  Hamilton Campbell had a strong game with 22 points.  He is a much better shooter than he had shown up to now.  H-SC got to work with some smaller, quicker lineups, and freshmen got more extensive PT as some of the Tigers were unable to go while recovering from the flu.  I'm hopeful these 2 games will have long term benefits.

Unfortunately due to work I was not able to watch either of Roanoke's wins (Montclair State and Coast Guard) these past 2 days. Having read up on the wins both wins were dominant (44 pts combined) and both teams RC played had pretty decent records ( 7-4 and 5-4).  I'm hoping RC keeps this up even though we don't have a game for a week.

Been trying to keep up with the other ODAC teams.  HSC is in a tier of their own but RMC is starting to look how they normally do, they're my clear 1 and 2 in the conference right now.  Guilford seems like they're starting to put it together also, after that it seems like everyone is beating everyone.

A good win for H-SC over Eastern and nice pair of wins for Roanoke.

In Saturday's other game at H-SC, jknezek was right as W&L lost to John Carroll.

No more games until Saturday the 28th. Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays to all.

You can rewatch Roanoke's 2 wins on demand on the Sun Digital Network.   Both games took place at St. Thomas U in Miami Gardens,FL and the Sun Digital Network has the live and on-demand  streaming rights for Cruzin Classic games from St. Thomas U.   The SSC Digital Network has the live and on-demand streaming rights for Cruzin Classic games from Barry U.  Both courts are in the Miami, FL area.    Both games are available for free.

The Jackets shot well (especially in the second half), and Stevenson not so well, as RMC wins 79-48. I thought Stevenson hurt itself by being a bit too unselfish, deciding on extra passes instead of taking earlier shot opportunities, giving the Jackets' defense chances to recover. They are a better team than the final score would suggest. RMC's 6'0" freshman guard Delani Hammonds was hustling for rebounds and tied 6'8" Joe Bachman with seven each, even though Hammonds played five fewer minutes.

Roanoke with a big win today at home against Bryn Athyn 103-65.  Game was back and forth in the 1st half but RC went on a run at the end to make 40-29.  Second half RC caught fire and made most of our 17 3s then.  RC will play Maryville College in the Cregger invitational title game tomorrow. It's apparent RC will live and die by the 3 a lot this season.

In other ODAC news today:

Ferrum lost to Berry College 79-83

Lynchburg beat Mount Aloysius big 92-74

W and L gets their 2nd win of the season beating Methodist University 66-74

Guilford is currently playing Sewanee right now so score TBD

RMC thumps Ursinus 97-54. This game played out the same in both halves. Ursinus got out to quick starts then the Jackets' defense went to work.

As in yesterday's game, RMC's Delani Hammonds (all six feet zero inches of him) was the leading rebounder, and today he didn't share that with Joe Bachman, pulling down eight to Bachman's seven. Hammonds also had six assists today.

It's a good thing the Jackets have almost a week off. Five players are dealing with some kind of injury. Hopefully everyone will be healthy by Saturday.

Guilford downed Sewanee 90-68.

Rough day for the ODAC as conference teams manage only two wins against six losses.

Winners were Ferrum and VWU. Losers were Lynchburg, Roanoke, Randolph, Shenandoah, Guilford and W&L.

One more game in 2024 - Averett hosts Pfeiffer tomorrow - then three days off before conference play gets into full swing on Saturday.
