Figures.  The Quakers have had several poor shooting games, but go red hot against H-SC.  The Tiger defense is not good enough to be disruptive to a hot shooting team.  The Tigers have not been starting games well; they need to come out of the gate better.

For those who may not know, Luke and Gabe Proctor for Guilford are brothers.  With 19 and 17 points, respectively, they combined for 36 points vs Hampden-Sydney.  Their Apex Friendship HS teammate, Nick Farrar, chipped in 16.

HSC plays BC tonight at 6:00.  Game was moved due to the storm.  Just wanted to post an update.  Sorry I missed you at the HSC-GC game Danny!

Averett at Randolph also got moved to today. I'm surprised more schools didn't move games to today.  Roanoke has a huge game at home tomorrow against Virginia Wesleyan.

Yeah, me too.  I was opposite side from the benches and the GCQ broadcasters ... about 4 rows up.  It was a pretty good game ... both sides wanted it.

With Roanoke's win over VWU there are no longer any undefeated teams in conference play. Five teams have one loss and they are all to one of the other four one loss teams. In addition to the just mentioned game, RMC and Roanoke have lost to H-SC. H-SC lost to Guilford. Guilford lost to RMC.

RMC's win today at W&L wasn't close (72-45) but it also wasn't pretty. W&L's defense was tough. The Jackets turned the ball over 19 times. Keishawn Pulley, Jr must like playing in that gym. Last season he scored 32 points. Today he scored 19 and was 5-5 beyond the arc and 7-9 overall.

Roanoke with a big win on Saturday.  Roanoke played hard and took a 18 point lead into halftime.  Virginia Wesleyan would not go away and would get it to a 9 point game with 3 minutes left, Roanoke would knock down some free throws to keep Virginia Wesleyan from getting any closer.  I was a little disappointed that Roanoke didn't keep it at a 20 point game but Virginia Wesleyan was too good of a team to let that happen. This is definitely the biggest win for Roanoke in the last couple of seasons. Roanoke plays at Lynchburg (who beat Shenandoah on Saturday) on Wednesday.

Notable games on Wednesday is CNU at Randolph Macon and Virginia Wesleyan at Guilford. Guilford, Randolph Macon, Hampden Sydney and Roanoke sit a top the ODAC right now with 5-1 records.

The RMC-CNU game tomorrow night in the COTU will tell us A LOT about how Josh Merkel has molded his kids to compete without a ton of size. He told me  at a football game this Fall that by THIS GAME we will know about how his kids have responded to playing without a big presence in the middle and it looks like that premonition is coming to fruition. With the students back at school for J-TERM it should be an electric atmosphere in Crenshaw and the Crazies will be out in full force, also! CNU travels well and its just a skip up I64/295/95 to Ashland from the Peninsula so they should be well represented also. Should be a great game in the tough but generally friendly rivalry and a good litmus test for us going forward! GO JACKETS!

As we stand now, HSC, RMC and Virg. Wes. are in good shape for the NCAA tournament. Virg. Wes. sits as the 13th Pool C team. Roanoke and Guilford have work to do at 22 and 45.

Lots can happen.

All ODAC teams in action tonight. Six conference games plus CNU at RMC. With wins Roanoke and H-SC can remain tied at the top of the conference, but either Guilford or VWU will take a second loss.

Pool C bids are great (and a looong way off), but the big door prize is the ODAC championship.  And that's going to the team, among many, that is playing to its potential that first week of March.

A great game at Crenshaw as #16 RMC tops #7 CNU 77-72. It was a back and forth game. Thirteen lead changes. Largest lead was six points for CNU early in the first half. RMC led by two at halftime, but trailed by five with 6:44 left before closing the game on an 18-8 run. Junior guard Amr Areikat made a huge three with nine seconds left to give the Jackets a five point lead then, after a CNU bucket, made two free throws with 2.7 seconds remaining to seal the win.

VWU goes to 5-1 in conference handing Guilford it's second ODAC loss.
Roanake squeaks by Lynchburg 80-79 to remain at one loss in conference.
H-SC wins at W&L to also stay at one conference loss.

In other games: Averett wins easily over Shenandoah; Bridgewater handles Randolph; Ferrum gets a road win at EMU.
