Go Quakers!  Rooting for a great game today!

Macon

Should be an interesting game today with GC.  Both teams are playing well, but here's hoping that Hasa's Quakers come up short today.

Was hoping to meet HSC in the conference playoffs, to avenge those early losses.  May still happen in the nationals.

Another observation that excites me for the Jackets is the recent play of 6-6 freshman Ty Showalter.  In the last two games, he's averaging over 10 pts and 5.5 rebounds per game with only about 13 minutes per game.  The Jackets certainly need more size on the floor.  I understand he's been battling illness during the season, so it's great to see him contributing.  Gives Coach additional options inside.

Guilford downs RMC 52-49. RMC led 34-30 at halftime, then managed only 15 points in the second half. Of course Guilford scored only 22 after halftime. A two-team total of 37 points in a half has to be a near-record low. Both teams could have scored more if the officials hadn't left their whistles in their pockets in the second half. Kudos to Guilford.

The ODAC needs to address the poor quality of officiating in the league.

I knew Guilford had to run the gauntlet to win the ODAC:  VWU on the road, RMC on a 20-game win streak and now, perhaps, Roanoke.  All 3 beat the Quakers soundly in the regular season.  Roanoke has a 15-point halftime lead, but UL is still in it!

Getting hot at the right time is key.  All 5 teams at the top of the ODAC had stellar seasons!

I think officiating overall has gotten better since I started following D3 basketball 25 years ago. What is and isn't a foul is more clearly defined now that it was 10-15 years ago. As a result, it seems that fewer fouls are being called and officials aren't noticed as much. The "let them play" mentality, when taken to the extreme, however, can result in the officials affecting the game just as much, though differently, than when they are whistle happy. That seemed to me to be the case today in RMC vs Guilford.

It's hilarious ya'll are talking about officials because that's who I have a problem with in the Roanoke OT win today.  Officials weren't too bad in the first half and Roanoke took at 15 point lead.  It felt and looked like the beginning of the 2nd half they were going to call a lot more fouls which they did.  Foul count was 8-3 with Roanoke committing the 8 fouls at the beginning of the 2nd half and Lynchburg got back into the game. From there RC was either tied with LC or had the lead. RC was up 2 with about 30 seconds left and got called for a foul in the back court. Lynchburg then made 2 FTs and the game went into overtime.

In overtime Lynchburg would take a 4 point lead with about 50 seconds left. From there Roanoke would steal the game (at this point is was only a 2 point Lynchburg lead) by hitting a 3 with 18 seconds left (on the same exact play that beat Lynchburg at Lynchburg).  From there Lynchburg would miss a shot and have to foul and Roanoke would knock down 2 FTs to seal it.

Roanoke plays a great Guilford team tomorrow who's looking for revenge after the last time that we met.  Roanoke has not held the ODAC title since 2000.  Coach Nunley has never won the ODAC title but has been in the title game 2 times (once with Roanoke, once with Randolph), here's hoping the 3rd time is the lucky charm.

I was unable to attend today's Guilford vs RMC game, but will make the drive to Salem tomorrow for the Championship.

Today's two games were good ones ... I hope tomorrow's game will be as well.

I'm obviously rooting for the Quakers, but both teams are solid contenders for the ODAC as well as in the NCAA tournament. Here's hoping the ODAC gets four!

Go Quakers!

GREAT GAME by the Quakers obviously! I'm on the west coast for work and didn't see it and all I could
Do is look at live stats, but it seemed GCtook over in the 2nd half and we couldn't hit a bull in the a$$ with  a spade, as my Dad( RMC '49) would say!! Pulling for Hasas Quakers tomorrow , so our conference will have FOUR representatives!! Looks like us, HSC, and Roanoke are already in!! Also, CONGRATS to our ladies on the ODAC Crown! RMC HOFer David Kagey's daughter Catherine, a 5th year Senior after ACL surgery last year, led the way  with 25pts, 10 RB,! GO JACKETS!!🐝🐝🐝

My novice advice to the Jackets.  DON'T SHOOT THE 3 IN SALEM!  It's something we've seldom done well in that venue.

Congratulations to the RMC women's team.  What a great season!

As to officiating, I've not watch any of the ODAC games in Salem.  But, I generally agree with comments above.  I'd also say, that I did watch the end of the Tennessee game and the whole Duke game yesterday, and the officiating there was not good either.

As to RMC 3-point shooting in Salem Civic Center, just converting 2 of the 13 missed 3 points as 2 pointers in the second half may have won the game.  I don't have any historical stats, but my impression is that RMC seldom shoots well in the SCC.

Interesting that RMC women were just 1-15 yesterday on 3s, but ironically won.

Missed free throws are going to take the Maroons down.

Congrats to Guilford for the ODAC title.  Should be 4 ODAC teams in for certain now.

As for the comments on officiating, I try not to comment on officiating as it relates to a particular game because I believe it sounds like you are blaming the officials.  I do, however, believe that officiating is very inconsistent, even within the same game.  You have to allow some contact because they can't play the game with no contact, but you also have to control the level of physicality to protect the players and integrity of the game.  This year I've seen it goes both ways and there has rarely been a happy medium.  The officials have called ticky tack fouls with little contact or they've allowed a lot of contact with no fouls called.

I believe I disagree with Seatfiller on one thing.  He pointed out a foul discrepancy in the Lyn - Roan game.  I have no problem with that.  Nothing in the rule book says fouls should be about even.  I've heard HSC fans near me talk about lopsided fouls calls and pointed out that we are settling for jump shots while the other team is attacking the basket.  How the game is played by the teams determines some of that.  My 2 cents, so it probably isn't worth a lot!

My friends and I were talking about this during the game today (I was there).
