And, don't forget VWC's new #44, Norman Hassell.

JWW...

Hassell is only a freshman, which is why I omitted him.  But certainly if he gets the opportunity and takes advantage of it, that is another one Ben Strong has to out-do.  As for other big men, the ones at H-SC are not bad, either.  It will take a lot for Ben Strong to be the third best big man in the ODAC this year.  Not saying he won't be, just that it is unlikely.

Slam - Strong is really going to have to step it up this year and I look forward to watching how the big men do all around.

Mr. D

In reference to you and youi comment. You took my comments totally wrong so to assume that the team is tighter now with your absence may be so but its not because of you leaving the team and possibily coming back next year. So just stop assuming and thinking you are a focal point. We are tighter because we just tired of the nonsense and mistakes  that hurt us last year . thats why we are tighter If you yourself want to put your self with this two words then thats one you. Hope you do come back next year and do your thing you know i will be cheering for you. But for now i am concertrating on this years team. Not next year. Everyday is this world is not PROMISED.

Sounds like Guilford has quite a mountain to climb this year. Attitude is everything.

What a curious way for  former Quaker teammates to communicate? Jboogie would you like to bring a little more clarity to your post?
If you make every game a life and death proposition, you're going to have problems. For one thing, you'll be dead a lot. Dean Smith

Jboogie, i was just asking, it seemed like a shot at the big fellow. you can ask everyone on the team since my departure, i have been possibly thre biggest cheerleader, i love my teamates and i never stood in the way of bonding or whatever...i just asked you a question buddy, and you answered it, thanks for that. Godd luck with everything!!!

coopersharpe -

Did I see you on crutches at the Guilford/Greensboro football game on the 1st?  If so, are you out this year?  Tell me what sort of team the Quakers have this year w/o Atkinson, Lawhorn and you?

hasanova, yeah Sharpe is out for the year, he tore his ACL... he will be fine though, he is off of cruches now, and is moving around really well, i was truly unhappy when he went down, Sharpe is without a question my best friend on the team and at Guilford, so thats the situation...he sould be fine though!!!!and as far as Guilford's team goes, run baby run, while coach palombo and i are as close as the sun and the moon, i still think he is a good coach, the Quakers are built to move, so turn your jets on folks, the E&H game should be a high scoring one if they play as they did late last year!!!

Mr. Divac - Genaro, I saw you with Andy at the Guilford/Greensboro game about a month ago & I spoke to you briefly at another football game.  Sorry to hear Andy's out for the year - tell him I hope he heals quickly.  Both of you stay in shape for next year & take advantage of the down time to ace your studies these two semesters.  I'll be at many basketball games this season & I know I can count on both of you to be the biggest Quaker cheerleaders (figuratively and literally lol) in the stands this winter.  Good luck to both of you.  Go Quakers!

The Marlins scrimmage against Marymount at Marymount on November 5.

hasanova

Not a scrimmage, but the GC Quakers have just added a Nov. 9 exhibition game at home vs. the Italian National Junior Team.  The Quakers defeated them last year in then newly-refurbished Alumni Gym (predecessor to Ragan-Brown Fieldhouse).  It was "70's night" and there was a raucous SRO crowd.   Great fun!

EMU has increased their talent and atleticism from a few different players.... Just to name a few, Delaney Brown from Heritage h.s....He can shoot it and dunk any way you want it.....La Roger Parish, Freshman as well Pt. Guard, Big BC recruit! He is 6'2 can throw it down very easy with two hands, very under control and good pt. guard, Darryl Renner transfer PF, he is about 6'4 and jumps out of the gym probably in the top ten in strength in the ODAC forwards as well..There are more too,, that is to add on to Arrington back, Sager back, Jomorrae Gordon has gotten bigger and stronger in the off season as well as Jason Lentz. Both must have hit the weightroom..On top of that Korey Whiting has gotten bigger and stronger...I think we know about him, when he dunk on top of a 6'7 PF from HS at emu, it was an AND 1....But anyway,, i am so excited about The ODAC this year.. i wish i could attend every game, my schedule and distance has me limited, but am very anxious for the year to start!!!!!

stillfamily,
Thanks for the specifics about EMU's improved athleticism and talent.
