Ben Strong is pretty damn good. I had no idea he could shoot as good as he can. I was very impressed.

well its over and BC wasnt what I expected, The EMU team played okay, nothing special..they played hard thats for sure! I saw everyone on EMU's team play hard, even if they only played 30sec, they played as hard as they could.BC looked like they didnt want to play, and never look like they are having fun... They game was one sided, EMU never trailing and never in any question tonight...There should be no excuse for a down year at BC, with a recruiting budget that big and a full time asst. they should be loaded every year like RMC and HS.. Just shows who is getting it done in the Valley now...EMU, they were bigger stronger faster!!! Good win Royals...keep it up...

it's going to be pretty difficult to replace as much as they lost regardess of the coaching staff and recruiting budget.

stillfamily...what have I been telling you all week? And just how big is this budget you keep referring to...and what does that have to do with losing 7 regulars from last years team? BC should never have a down year?...are you kidding me? Take a close look at this year. It isn't the first one and won't be the last one .A dozen fulltime assistants and Duke's budget can't replace 7 regulars!

By the way..I assume EMU won by some of your comments..score? any specific observations? EMU is the better team right now!

Just picked up some paticulars on the EMU -BC game...final was 64-52 EMU. The Royals led by 14 at the half 33-19 and the Eagles closed to within 8 with 151/2 to play. EMU stretched the lead to 17 with with about 5 minues to play and the final margin was as close as BC could get to close it out. CLay Michael had 12 as the lone Eagle in double figures. Sager had 14, Parkes 12 and Gordon 10 to lead EMU. both teams shot 49% from the floor, BC only 2-7 from the FT line while EMU was 11-15. Turnovers again did in BC as they had 22 against 11 assists...EMU wasn't much better here 19 turnovers against 10 assists. 6 Eagles turnovers in a 6 minutes period in the middle of the second half fueled the key second half run by EMU to put the game away.

Good win for the Royals...they've been waiting a long time to finally take one from Bridgewater, although at 1-18 over the last 19 games there is still a Royal hill to climb.

Good job with the play-on words there steely!

The BC-EMU game was decided in the final six minutes of the first half when EMU outscored the Eagles 16-6 to turn a close 17-13 game into a 33-19 lead at the break. Both teams were plagued by first-half turnovers as BC had 13 and EMU 10.
The Eagles are a young team and young teams tend to struggle early on the road.
SteelyGlen, That "big recruiting budget" might pay dividends down the road.
BC freshman and sophomores played 122 of the 200 total minutes.

Steve...that minutes logged stat is the best stat of the night...Man does that really tell a story...Is there a greener team in the ODAC? Give it time... Thanks Steve!

Nice... Great win for the Royals.  Get that darn monkey off their back.

The following might be pointless because I don't have the specifics anymore bu...

I took a sports management class at EMU several (3) years ago.  One of the coaches taught the class and showed a list of of numbers for all the ODAC schools.  EMU was last in budget, endowment, paid assistants, etc.  Dead last in almost every catagory.  When an EMU team any team,  wins the ODAC Championship, it is an incredible feat by the coaches for what they do with very little.  I am not giving any of the other ODAC schools a hard time. I just wish EMU would get their butt in gear and help out their head coaches with assistants and a budget that is comparable to the other ODAC schools.  The one stat I do know is this:  It is more profitable for assistant coaches to be the assistant coach in the Valley District (high school) than at EMU. That is sad!

Keep up the hard work Coach Dean and the entire program.

Mr. Ypsi

emufan,

I teach at the 'other' EMU (Eastern Michigan University) - I sometimes absent-mindedly type in emu.edu (rather than emich.edu) and get your website!

While we are quite dominant in several 'minor' sports (including dominance over the University of Michigan - 8 miles away, and generally putting us totally in the shadows - in cross country and track and field), we have mostly struggled in the two 'premiere' sports: men's basketball and football.

We have had our moments in each - a bowl game win in '87 (and several players in the NFL); some top 25 rankings and playoff wins (plus George (Iceman) Gervin in the NBA Hall of Fame and Earl Boykins the early lead candidate for 6th man of the year).  And in bball I think we ARE turning the corner towards becoming a national player, but we have lately been a total bust in each.

Good luck to Eastern Mennonite University (the d3 EMU)!

Mr. Ypsi,
So maybe you should change your moniker to Mr. emu?   :)

emufan and stillfamily,
I noticed a plethora/pride/gaggle/herd/group of assistants surrounding coach Dean when they played Roanoke on Wednesday.

scottie,
Now that the Hornets are 0-8, are you ready to admit you made a bad promise when you said you'd resign as manager if Lynchburg didn't win as many games as last year?

HSC freshman and sophomores played 107 of the 200 total minutes in the Tigers' game yesterday.  That is more than the 85-90 minutes they played in the previous 2 games but I expect that the HSC sophs/freshmen will continue to get over 100 minutes a game the rest of the season, if Tyler Murray (a soph) continues to play as well as he has been and Byron Lawton (a frosh) continues to see more playing time.

jeloesel

In the first six games of the season, the Roanoke freshmen and sophmores played an average of 126 minutes per game.  I'd expect that to go up a bit as over the course of the season.  They almost make the Sydney team look like a geriatric exercise class.   :)

This word is very common in the mennonite faith.  It is called VOLUNTEER!
