Well Tigerfan, MY opinion is VWC is going to crush RMC on Saturday at the beach.  WHY?  Because they are a much more balanced team, they are more athletic, have more speed and overall just a better team, even WITH  Wansley on the court at 100%.   Also, with Wansley  at 100% the Marlins have beaten RMC  the past 3 outings by a margin of 15, 14, and 13.  I don't see the Marlins losing on Saturday.  Maybe time for a reality check.  RMC is a good team, but the Marlins haven proven themselves to be a much much better team all season. We shall see.

I made a big mistake when saying that VWC won the last 3 contests over RMC..They did indeed lose one game inbetween the 3 wins.  I stand corrected.  But I will still say the Marlins will win Saturday at the beach.. They are simply a better team.

Without Kaase, the Tigers' lack of depth in the post is a problem, but it's good to see Laakso and Szuch getting some game experience.

Tournament time is coming up, with a lot of teams fighting over the #3 through #8 seed.  HSC and Guilford still have to be the favorites to be seeded in the top half, but each team has 5 more games to go and you never know what might happen.

The real fight is for #5 through #8.  Four teams that have 5 wins apiece.  And, if Lynchburg can pick up a win at home vs. Roanoke on Saturday and another in Lexington on Sunday, the Hornets could finish the week with 5 wins, probably putting them in a tie with another team or two.  I think the Hornets still have a chance at the tournament (as does W&L if they can get hot).

Among Roanoke, E&H, Bridgewater, EMU, and Lynchburg, the teams with the toughest schedule are Bridgewater and EMU, as each still has a game to play against Virginia Wesleyan and Randolph-Macon.

I think that a 7-11 record will guarantee a tournament berth.  A 6-12 record might result in a tie-breaker that would leave a team out, and a 5-13 schedule will probably leave a team at home.

Fishtank,

I enjoy the VWC enthusiasm, but for my own superstitions lets not try to be so bold.  Bulletin boards are full of quotes no need to add any.  Saturday's game is going to be a huge game for both teams and although I think VWC is the better team on paper, the Yellow Jackets are still a very talented and well coached basketball team.  I am willing to bet my college loans that Wansley will be back and that alone will bring an emotional lift to RMC.  If I were to put a spread on the game the line would be VWC -3 (because they are home) and the over/under would be 138 1/2.

PS:  This is the first home game for the Marlins having students back in session.  It will be interesting to see if the VWC crowd jumps on the teams bandwagon and supports them, or sits in their dorm rooms playin HALO.

The new Top 25 has Virginia Wesleyan rising to #20 in D3.  Congrats to the Marlins!  Randolph-Macon falls just barely out of the Top 25 (to "#26").

The d3hoops.com conference standings are usually delayed to update.  EMU actually has six conference wins while RC, BC, & EHC have five.

Sounds like the CNU students. We had 1600 on Saturday, but that was for Academic Recognition and had about 1400 Sunday, but not nearly the amount of students that were there for academic recognition. I know the CNU Athletic Department is trying to come up with ways to get students back into the stands. 14-5 team isnt that bad!!

EMU and BC may have the toughest schedule, but as for EMU they play 4 games at home in the final 5... That has to help. They play EH GC RC WL all at home while going on the road to face VW where emu with a record of 6-19 beat the marlins in 2004..so who knows, all i can say is i am pretty confident that EMU will play in a 3-6 seed...

This saturday Lynchburg hosts Roanoke College! It is also Alumni Day AND Senior Day! Senior Day was originally scheduled for the 14th but was moved because some parents couldn't make it on the 14th, at least thats what i was told. The Alumni game will be at 11:45 AM followed by our game against Roanoke at 3 pm. Should be a very special day for the program and Lynchburg fans, get to see former Lynchburg greats and you get to celebrate the careers of 5 seniors! The fans should be out in style this Saturday, hopefully they will get as loud or louder than they did yesterday! Yesterday they got pretty darn loud late in the game when we started making the game very interesting, I'd never heard the gym get so loud before!
