You gotta love Fishtankfan's loyalty and enthusiasm. I sure hope they can get a lot of fans there Saturday for the RMC game. That is going to be one heck of a game.

We had that same problem here at BC, as Im sure alot of schools tend to have.  You can never have too many students at a game, so its always good to look for ways to get more there.  One thing we have done is turn it over to a club called SAAC (Student Athletic Advisory Committee).  I am actually the president of the club at BC, and we have done some things to encourage students to come to athletic events.  One thing we have done is what we call "Pack the Stands."  We set out certain games each season for each team and advertise them through posters and emails and try to do special drawings at the games.  This is just one thing we have done. I dont know if you have any "pull" or direct affiliation with CNU, but if you want more information, let me know.

Tournament time is coming up, with a lot of teams fighting over the #3 through #8 seed.  HSC and Guilford still have to be the favorites to be seeded in the top half, but each team has 5 more games to go and you never know what might happen.

WOW! When was the last time a Sydney fan "hoped" Sydney, on February 1st, would finish in the upper division, of the ODAC? As Bob Dylan once said, "...the times, they are a changin'..."

Without Kaase, the Tigers' lack of depth in the post is a problem, but it's good to see Laakso and Szuch getting some game experience.

That's it? That's our Sydney game round-up? Usually we get a good long game summary out of Sydney here but I guess not today. So a few notes from the box score. Obviously a very good road win for the Eagles who desperately needed a conference win no matter where. This puts a 2 game space between BC and staying home for the ODAC tournament with 5 to play. Sorry to hear about the injury to Kasse. Never a good thing but part of the game. Hope he's back soon...the league is better with guys like him and Wansley in it!

As for last night. Bridgewater shot 38% and found a way to win it. A second half of runs as the Eagles, down 10 at halftime opened up with a 12-4 run to get with in 2 in the first 5 minutes. As anyone will tell you the first 5 minutes of the second half are the most important five minutes in any college basketball game. Many more times than not it set the tone for the final outcome. After Sydneyopened it back up to 6 (45-39) another short 4 minute run of 11-2 put BC ahead 50-47 at the 8:26 mark. Down 2 (52-50) with 5:15 to play a last 3 minute run of 8-0 put BC ahead to stay 58-52. Sydney shot 26% from the floor in the second half and turned it over 13 times...a recipe for disaster in anyone's book. For the night BC had 18 assists to 12 turnovers a very good number in a hostile environment while HSC had 12 assists against 20 turnovers...never a number you want against a bottom-feder at home!
Clay Maichael had 17 Josh Maupin 16 to lead BC, but again Kevin Nmah's numbers were very impressive... 7 points, 5 rebounds 6  assists and 3 steals...excellent night!

Now a little momentum carry-over would be nice on a huge ODAC weekend in Nininger Hall!

EMU and BC may have the toughest schedule, but as for EMU they play 4 games at home in the final 5... That has to help. They play EH GC RC WL all at home while going on the road to face VW where emu with a record of 6-19 beat the marlins in 2004..so who knows, all i can say is i am pretty confident that EMU will play in a 3-6 seed...

EMU only has 3 of 5 at home.  The next three (EHC, GC, RMC) are at home and then the Royals close the season at W&L & at VWC.  W&L played at EMU way back on 1/11.

Maybe they're changing, but maybe they're cycling ....

Here's a picture of the Tigers' cycling between brilliant years and  years when they were seeded 4th, 5th, or even 6th:

1993:  #6 seed, with 8-10 record .... Lose in quarterfinals.
1995:  #1 seed, with 17-1 record .... One win short of getting to the Final Four.
1996:  #4 seed, with 11-7 record .... Lose in semifinals.
1997:  #5 seed, with 12-6 record .... Win ODAC Championship.
1999:  #1 seed, with 16-2 record .... Lose National Championship game in 2OT.
2000:  #1 seed, with 18-0 record .... Losses to Roanoke and Maryville end 26-2 season.
2003:  #2 seed, with 17-1 record .... Back to the Final Four.
2005:  #4 seed, with 11-7 record .... Lose in semifinals.

really quick...additional comments about yesterdays BC/HSC match-up (Should've been there Steely  :)...even as agonizing as the first half was)

The first half was horrible to watch the Eagles in action.  HSC was really dominating it, but mostly because it looked like the Eagles were still playing in the same mode they did against Lynchburg, they weren't grabbing rebounds and their shots just weren't going in.  thankfully Michael wasn't having as bad of a game.  I'm not sure what Coach Leatherman said to them in the lockerroom, but the guys stepped it up and this team showed up in the second half.  Although Josh Maupin might not have had the best shooting percentage, he didn't stop taking shots from behind the arc and the ones that went in really helped us come out on top.  Andrew Cathlin also really stepped up the tempo of the game with some key lay-ups.  The Eagles are really shaping up to be a second half team.

This is the first time in 4 years the Eagles have played at HSC while HSC was in school.  Tough crowd to play against, but thankfully these guys are tuning out the taunts

Thanks for the scores, "kid."

Just finished listening to the GC-R-M game on the computer.  Sounds as if Macon got unraveled there at the end.  Happy to be wrong about my pick there.  I was more scared of Guilford than E&H.

Speaking of E&H, I hope there's a poster out there that saw that game.  I'd like to hear about it.

Hasanova, I'm sorry I didn't make it down, but I know you supply the much needed details of the GC-R-M game.
Jacketlawyer - sorry you couldn't make it to Greensboro on Sunday.  I was hoping I'd get to meet you.  You missed a hard-fought, competitive game and the Jackets had a fair amount of fan support.  R-MC has a fine team, but as you mentioned earlier, Guilford is capable of beating all three teams they played this week.   I wouldn't automatically assume a third victory if they meet in the tournament.  I did not see the VWC game, but I did attend the HSC and R-MC games this week.  Guilford's shooting touch around the basket (or lack of it) really cost them.  There were some missed lay-ups and TO's that changed the complexion of all three games.  There was also a fairly long momentum break in the R-MC game while the court was cleaned.  Evidently, one of the Yellowjackets (I know who, but let's leave it at that) had an upset stomach and it took a while to get the court ready to go again.  I also did not like the Quakers' ball and clock management in the last two minutes of the RMC game.  They had several three-point attempts to tie, but couldn't make it happen and were then forced to foul.  Since the Quakers were 7-3 in the conference and are now 7-6, it was a trying week.  I could see it in Coach Palombo's face as he left the court after the games.

I also apologize to the board for not posting as much lately.  Some of the discussion a few weeks ago prompted me to deliberately stay busy with other things - which is not a problem for me.   We all lead busy lives these days ... Peace

Jacketlawyer

Thanks for the posting, Hasanova.  I'm also sorry I didn't get down there, but hopefully we'll get to meet at the Poster's gig at the A-SC in Roanoke.  Looking forward to it.

No, I don't care to play Guildford again.  I've seen ODAC teams sweep a team during the regular season and again in the ODAC tournament, but not all that often.  Hmmmmmm, sounds like a research project for a poster out there. ;D

Anyhoo, this is why I'm unconcerned about the outcome of the R-M/VWC game on Saturday.  While I've picked R-M to win, and they can,  I have to assume they're saving Wans for the tournament, and that is fine with me.  I'll take the loss in Norfolk over a loss in the tournament any day.

Keep on postin', Hasanova.
