I would suggest that 6 out of the last ten qualifies as being routine. Current trends are what HS kids consider when looking at institutions of higer learning; not what happen 10 years prior. You've got to agree that splitting equal PT with 15 guys has got to be a turn off to the better D3 recruits. If you don't agree so be it ..... but every kid I know that is good at a given sport wants to be on the field/court come game day; not on the bench the majority of the game.  I'm not bashing E&H, just stating my opinion. If the system ends up working and E&H ends up competing for the ODAC consistently, I'll admit that I'm wrong !! Go in peace and enjoy the balance of the season !!!!

I don't think the poster was bashing the Wasps as much as he was questioning the system. He raises a very good point; why would a quality player want to sit the bench for 2/3's of the game just because the system requires so many players. PT is important and most quality players don't want to sit the bench and watch lesser players get equal PT. That is a problem, that the system creates; especially when E&H routinely finishes in the bottom half of the conference. Two factors that must have a negative impact on recruiting quality D3 players.

The system does call for quality players, but I think the system also wants players who are willing to know their role and sacrifice for the good of the team.  I dont think any of the players think that while they are sitting, the other 5 is hurting them on the floor.

Is Kaase playing tonight?
Kaase played 15 minutes on Saturday and I expect him to play about the same amount of time tonight.  It may depend upon how much they need him; it's a big week for the Tigers, with Guilford on Wednesday and Macon on Saturday, and it's probably better if he doesn't spend too much time on the court.

I'm betting on HSC to exact revenge against the Maroons with a 5-10 point victory tonight.

sludge

I think the story of the weekend for Guilford was their ability to score from inside and out and get alot of people involved.  There were big plays by Jamel Taylor, Eric Belkoski, L.T. Lockett, Ray Edmond, Barry Wells, George Neville and Josh Payne.  The usual suspects looked really good also, inside and out.  The team was spirited.  I've seen some good games and some ugly games this year, and I can tell you:  Guilford never, ever gives up.  Winston Churchill would like these guys.

On thing I don't understand about refs. On a shot from outside, they'll call finicky little touch fouls, even if the foul is after the ball has left the shooters hand!  On a shot from inside, they won't call a foul on a shot sometimes even when the shooter appears to suffer a minor case of assault and battery.

Hampden-Sydney comes back from a ten point deficit late in the first half to defeat Roanoke, 62-53.  Matt Guill had 14 points to lead the Tigers, while Mike Edwards added 13 and Troy Kaase recorded his fourth double-double of the year with ten points and 11 rebounds, playing 24 minutes.  The Tigers outrebounded the Maroons, 42-29.

Curtis Peery scored 17 and was very impressive, especially for a freshman.  Is this guy usually so good?

A lot of players from the Roanoke area on the court tonight:  Kaase from Cave Spring, Szuch from Glenvar, Carter from Northside, and Dowell & Peery from Salem High.
