hard to tell VWC  is leading...it seems the sportscasters are Myricks biggest fans but Brandaon Adair has matched  "the star"  of Lincoln!  Considering how badly VWC has played it's hard to believe they could possibly lead.  Yes I am being sarcastic. Go Marlins. and Yes, Myrick is a great player ....no doubt.Adair is no slouch tho.

Just because us "sportscasters" aren't Virginia Wesleyan homers doesn't mean we're Myrick's biggest fans.

well, you would never know that, listening to the broadcast. There was more discussion of  Myrick and his abilities than anything else. I'm sure Myrick was impressive. I take nothing away from him. VWC homers? lmao, we all know that. Just don't know why you give  VWC (and the ODAC) so little respect is all. But that is my opinion. I believe I am entitled to one. In all your polls and predictions on D3 hoops, VWC was written off a long time ago. I don't believe they were even mentioned as making it even this far, now that I come to think of it. Oh well, nbd. Marlin and ODAC fans have at least one more night to cheer on the locals! Wtg Marlins!

ohyeah

Im just happy the "weakest region" in basketball has 2 in the elite 8.  Keep in going VWC and Transy.

Hmm, yeah, so little respect but yet No. 7 in the country. Isn't that a poll? And here's my preview of the bracket:

"Who will win? Whoever wins the Lincoln/Virginia Wesleyan game. I'm taking a hunch on Lincoln."

That's reflective of the toss-up game that it turned out to be.

BTW, if you watched Myrick play you might understand. But on several occasions in the first half we mentioned that Adair was answering Myrick point for point.

And I guess you didn't listen to the final minute of the game. :)

Pat,
Will you be announcing tonights game as well. I am a VW alum and look forward to hearing the broadcast, only wish I could be in the tank with you guys tonight. How was the atmosphere last night. I heard the gym was rocking.

Does anyone know if Thomas Sumpter will be playing?

Pat Coleman

Yep, we'll be doing the game tonight. The gym was indeed rocking, was easily the largest crowd they have had, officials say. Some of that was a very enthusiastic Lincoln crowd, something that won't be repeated tonight, but perhaps the Elite Eight will bring more students out to the game.

As for Sumpter, Macedo wasn't willing to speculate last night before the game but we'll find out for our pregame.

I believe that Transy has been moved to the Midwest Region for the purpose of evaluation.

The Marlins fans certainly showed up.  Tickets were sold out by 2:30 and many marlins students stood in line for 2 hours to try and get one of the free tickets they were handing out at the pre-game festivities.  Some students never could get a ticket.  Hopefully things will fill up tonight.  Anyway, there was certainly no shortage of students last night Pat.  The Lincoln section probably would've filled up also.

Pat Coleman

I didn't say there was a shortage of students at all, did I? I said more could come out tonight and since there are probably 300 Lincoln fans who won't be here, those are seats that could be filled by more VWC students.

I listened to the WHOLE game Pat, that's why I wrote. Sorry Pat, I didn't realize  you and D3hoops single handedly put VWC in  the top 25 at #7. ( silly me, I thought VWC had actually earned a ranking) I must have also missed, on the prediction pages and discussions, (when the brackets first came out) where VWC was going deep in the NCAA's.  I hope I can still get a copy. You are right about two things though, I did hear you mention Brandon' Adair's name a few times last night and I would have probably  oohed and aahed at Myrick too had I been there. It was a good thing you were there to do it for us.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                  Contrats to Lincoln for an incredible game and for the MARLINS  KEEP GOING!

"...perhaps the Elite Eight will bring more students out to the game."

The point was that the Sweet 16 brought out the students.

I hear ya. And what I'm saying is there is room for more tonight. I never ever said the Sweet 16 did not bring out the students.

If you would like to check out the Hoopsville archives in the past few weeks... I am quite sure you will hear many of the commentators and myself at least put VWC in the Sweet 16 (since they only had to win one game) and then comment that the game against Lincoln would be a toss-up, since both teams are good for different reasons.

Also, many people (including myself) thought VWC would end up in at least the Elite 8. Again... go to the archives and take a listen.

As for Myrick... its too bad you weren't at the game. The comments about him were deserved. He is the number 1 scorer in the nation and put up 34 points last night. He also put some unbelievable shots that anyone else wouldn't been close to making. At the same time, Adair played a great... smart game. The Adair of last season would have tried to force up a bad shot in the end - to tie the game. The Adair of this season made the extra pass and the Marlins are moving on because of it. The Adair of this season was mentioned in the pre-game... throughout the game (talking about how well he was rebounding and making very smart decisions - especially early on where he kept VWC in the game)... and at the end talking about how he and the rest of the team improvised when the play drawn up didn't work.

Relax... VWC is a good team. They have the longest winning streat in nation and since the early part of the season... have been playing very good basketball. However, remember... the team is only as good as its last game (ask Lawrence). Play well again tonight against a VERY tough defensive-minded William Patterson team... and you can make the four to five hour drive to Salem. Don't play well tonight... and we can stop talking about any disrespect you may feel... because the season is over.
