me currently being a neutral party( changing quickly as i prepare to play next season) what are the early predictions for the ODAC standings next year, if someone gets this right i will send them a true special treat, my favorite meal of beenie-weenies and some grape gatorade!!!lol!!!

I really am optimistic about the Generals this coming season.  Obviously they didn't lose anyone to graduation (not sure if any guys are leaving the team this offseason or not).  They'll have Halkitis, Beinemann, Kusimo, and obviously Isaiah Goodman had a stellar freshman year.  If they can pick up a solid low-post kid coming in (maybe this Twomey kid), I like the potential.

Not sure who the Quakers are recruiting this season, but all the starters and most of the key reserves are back.  I look for Guilford to have a great year - hopefully top 3.   I see Strong, for example, getting better and better and I know Kimbrough skipped tennis this spring to concentrate on basketball (and he was ODAC champ in 2005 at #3 singles).  Andy Sharpe and Genaro Lawhorn should both be back as well.

The Tigers bring back 4 of their 5 starters and 4 of their 5 "second team" players ..

Macon loses Wansley and Gill, but they still bring back a whole lot.

Seems like Virginia Wesleyan is the obvious preseason #1, with Randolph-Macon, Hampden-Sydney, and Guilford the favorites to finish with VWC at the top of the conference.  But it's all guesswork at this point and it wouldn't be a huge surprise to see Washington & Lee or any of the other teams finish among the top four (although Lynchburg among the winners would be a seismic unheaval).

OK, Scottie, when someone throws you a line like that we're all waiting for your response!

From what I hear the team is together. It is a good group. We're the only team that that doesn't lose anyone. Plus Kusimo missed 9 games and played sparingly in the last 3 it will be good to have him healthy. So if they work hard we can only improve.
If you make every game a life and death proposition, you're going to have problems. For one thing, you'll be dead a lot. Dean Smith

Algernon speaks the truth...although the defending national champs should be a prohibitive favorite next season, the rest of the league return some awfully good players. It looks like 9 teams battling it out and Lynchburg hoping for a "seismic upheaval." Maybe something will change before October 15th...

I'm basically predicting an even worse season next school year. Look at what the returning players did last year. They didn't do much of anything, with the only one doing anything worth mentioning being Kwame Safo and Pete Vasiliou. We only have one returning player who played in all 25 games (kwame Safo), and 4 players total who played in at least 20 games (Pete V. Kwame, Fancourt, Goings).  Unless some of the returning players improve a hell of a lot, or we get a bunch of good freshman. The returners combine to average 36.2 points a game. Of course, this will be the first season since i've been here that I will have no idea at all as to who will be starting, who will be playing, or who will be relied on to be the scorers and all that kind of stuff. Cold be freshman and transfers, could be some of the current freshman, or who knows what. I can't realy give an accurate prediction until I see the freshman and any transfers once the season starts because I know we are going to be getting a bunch of them, and who knows, maybe we will be getting some pretty good players, or we could be getting a bunch of nobodies.

xcoach - please define "prohibitive favorite."

prohibitive favorite - So likely to win as to discourage competition: as in "the prohibitive favorite to win the nomination."

You're welcome, JWW, but you should really thank the online edition of Merriam-Webster.  lol

So, Algernon, what does the recruiting class at HSC look like for 06/07? Surely you must know. I really do wish the Tigers well next year because I think they should be playing better than they are. Remember, my oldest son, Jay, is a 1995 graduate of HSC. Maybe VWC and HSC can beat up on RMC next year ;D

You're welcome, xcoach.  As you mentioned to Scottie, things can get better, but sometimes it takes time.  For example, Guilford "bottomed out" at 3-21 in 1999, but they've rebuilt their men's program to not only respectability, but contention for the league title.
