Over time, I've accumulated quite a "negative" sports euphoria total (abated only occasionally by a golf championship lol), so bring it on!  This year's football success and anticipated basketball success should push me a little closer to zero.  :)  Trust me, I can handle it!  Don't forget - January - RMC vs GC hoops - Greensboro - be there!

Barring an unforeseen emergency, or a blizzard, I will be there!  If the pre-season standings were done accurately (and Jeloesel addressed the chances of that), the game should be both meaningful and good.

HASA- I have gone to both of the scrimmages and know Justin Strickland personally. He is a great player. Coach P. doesnt want to start any freshman but Strck could come in and start no problem. When i have been watching the game i can tell he could take over a game if he wanted to but he is playing a little conservative. He scored his 12 points in 14 minutes of play against Elon.

Wow, that's great.  Thanks.  I look forward to attending their first home game in Ragan-Brown and the Greensboro game at the Coliseum.  I only live about three miles from campus, so it's pretty easy to drop by.  How does Tyler Sanborn look and are there any other newcomers that you think will make significant contributions?  I got spoiled years ago with the NAIA champions and all the players who went to the NBA.  It's nice to see Quaker hoops on the way back.  :)

Tyler isn't bad. He just needs to get used to the college style play. He hasnt really jumped yet and just relys on his size. Another freshman is clay henson. He plays point guard and handles the ball really well. he has been playing the same time as when strickland is in the game and they work pretty good together. I currently attend Guilford so i will be at most of the games as well.

watching tyler play from the first day he stepped on to campus to today he has improved drastically already.  he should be a nice backup to strong and a player for the future.  Hasanova...you coming to meet the team night on Wednesday?...i will be there.

A couple of weeks ago, I posted Guilford's rather large 26-man roster.  As I expected, I now see only five freshmen have been assigned numbers.   This indicates to me more clearly who may "dress out" or travel.  I'm not sure if Guilford has a JV schedule for this winter, but I imagine some of the remaining eleven need a bit more seasoning, are recovering from an injury or will be elevated to Varsity if someone else is injured.

Hey, cooper.  Are you still injured?  I thought you had some more eligibility(?).

That's good to hear about Sanborn.  I'm originally from the same conference area as Elkin, so I was guessing with his size Tyler "never had to jump" much in 1A competition.  I hadn't heard about the "meet the team night" on Wednesday, but I would like to drop by.  I spoke with Coach Palombo day before yesterday, but he didn't mention it.  What time and where is it?

Congratulations to Guilford on their big win at Elon. Sounds like Guilford is loaded or that Elon is in for a really long year !!!

Looking forward the b'ball season. Sounds like the ODAC should be interesting this year. Defending National Champs and several other schools talking like they are going to be good.

Good luck to all. I can't wait to get the season started !!!

>>  Ben Strong will be tough to defend this year unless they collapse on him.

Well he's tricky, but he didn't have a good shooting night.  He came through when it counted, though.

I think the story of that game was more around Guilford's defense, which forced Elon out of the post and bothered all their shooters.  The Team D was really nice, everybody played hard.  Kimbrough had three steals and was looking for more.

The balanced scoring was the other part of the story, and the Quakers seem to have lots of ways to score this year.

Of course, I expect the ODAC to be tougher...

Thanks.  From what I can gather, it may be a little of both.  :)   I'm anxious for the season to start as well.

nova i got over the knee injury and yes i actually do have plenty of eligibility left as i have only played one year...but before i ever came to college i had a bad foot accident that really slowed me down.  with the combination of the two it is tough, so i have decided to just be a student and fan.  let me look into what time meet the team is, but it is an intrasquad scrimmage and should be in RB.

Cooper, thanks for checking on the time.  I'd like to be there in person and see some of the new guys scrimmage.  I certainly respect your decision on evaluating your injuries, academic load and the time demands for basketball.  I had some of the same issues when I played soccer at GC.  I'll look for you at games this year - hopefully, we can talk some during the games.

PS  Look up a player named David Smith in Guilford's record books and in the trophy case (late 60s-early 70s).  He was my Dad's youngest first cousin.  If I'm not mistaken, he still has the Guilford record of 50 points in a game (I was in the stands that night) and is tied with JameSon Curry for 2nd in NCHSAA history with 65 points in a game.  In addition to his scoring, he was also a great rebounder and won two NC state championships in HS.  At 6'8"/240 and talented, he was drafted in the ABA & NBA.

Hi again, glad to see another season starting.  Here is a projected starting lineup for EMU when they play JMU tonight.  Jered Lyons (5-foot-11, 170 pounds) at point guard, sophomore LeRoger Parrish (6-2, 170) at shooting guard, freshman Yanni El'De Jesus (6-4, 205) at small forward, junior Brad Parkes (6-3, 180) at power forward and senior Jason Sager (6-4, 210) at center.

OK. I'm confused. Now there's ODAC b'ball. So what's the difference? Maybe ODAC b'ball is designed for the basketball purist, guys like Frankenmuth's own Mr. Loesel.

Ha.  I think it's a conspiracy by Scottie to create confusion in the ODAC ranks, just to distract from the impending Lynchburg debacle.
