Question for Yellow Jacket fans- what's up with Hawley? Of the 9 players getting into both games for R-M, he's 9th in minutes played. This guy was 2nd team ODAC last season. ???

Unless the freshman from South Africa is awesome, I haven't got a clue.  Haven't seen 'em play, and due to work obligations, I'll be out of town the night they're in Lynchburg to play the Hornets. .  ???

The soph  from Chile is getting 17 minutes (Hawley is at 9.5) & has a lot of boards. The frosh from Africa didn't get in the 2nd game. If you're clueless then I'm mystified ??? ???

VA Wes goes down tonight breaking the 29 game win streak.  Adair gets in early foul trouble.  Tough loss.

Congratulations to VWC on a fine win streak - and to AU for breaking it.  Averett's a good team.  I saw them last year versus Guilford in Greensboro - and the Quakers have to go to Danville in a month or so!   Here's a story about the VWC game on Averett's website:

I am not 100% sure of the reason Hawley is low in minutes.  However, Hawley had suffered a severe sprain to one of his ankles in a practice a couple of weeks prior to the games in the opening tournament in Pennsylvania.  Thus, Coach Rhoades may be working him back into the rotation due to that injury.  (He did not start either game.)  Additionally, due to this injury Hawley's stamina may be low as well. 

Also, in the 1st game Hawley had 3 fouls in the 1st Half and received his fourth at 14:09 in the second half.  Not starting and his foul trouble I am sure contributed to his low minutes.  The second game was a 40 point game at half-time.  Thus, Coach Rhoades played lots of individuals and probablly saw an opportunity for Hawley to rest.

I guess the triptophan (sp?) worked its magic on the gurus in WEEK 2 as we were a collective 50-48...ouch! So much for getting the out -of-ODAC games ( we were a collective 5-23 on Maryville v.Emory and Ursinus v. LVC)...oh well I never kept up much with the JV's anyway! Here's where we are...stillfamily, X and baselinejam had 5-2 weeks to lead the pack. Congrats to 'X' for flying solo and picking the Averett upset of Virginia Wesleyan and to stillfamily for being the only Emory supporter in their win over Maryville...guess that's why they went 5-2 and I went 3-4...
