RMC is probably the best passing team I've seen in awhile. They don't give up either. Looks like a good year for them again!

Your comments are appreciated, CNU85, as well as RTT's report on the game.  It's a long haul from Lynchburg to get down there to the game!

I enjoy the rivalry between CNU and R-M.  It's a natural one, due to the proximity of the schools as well as one I hope will continue to develop.  Hopefully, R-M learned a few things last night that they can use to improve as the season progresses! ;D

We need to catch up....I think CNU record vs RMC is 3-13.....but I think we've won the last 2....RTT will know!

Apparently Im now the local expert on CNU basketball. Ok, well, I did some research and the Jackets do lead the all-time series now 13-3 after last night's game. However, according to the CNU game notes from last night that are still on-line, the first nine games (all RMC wins) came when RMC was a division II school.

Some nice coverage by the Greensboro News-Record for tonight's men's basketball game.  Looks like a good crop of newcomers for the Pride and a nice story about how Quakers Strong and Kimbrough have bonded together since middle school.  Seems Strong was recruited by BYU and Hawaii after last season's 1st-team ODAC selection, but they decided to stay at Guilford.  Thank you, Mr. Strong and Mr. Kimbrough!   Whew!  lol

Thanks for the response on the HSC vs. Guilford game. Sorry you can't make it. Everything I here, the game should be very competitive. I know the Tigers will be happy to finally play a home game with the student body actually on campus.

No problem - you're welcome.  Guilford is the same way - so far, away at Elon, two games at the Roanoke tournament and Greensboro on a neutral floor tonight.  Our first home game is this Saturday versus Lynchburg.  Some day I will make it to the Fleet Center, but, as mentioned earlier, their games always seem to be on Wednesday nights.

Good luck with Greensboro. The ODAC needs an out of conference win. They seem hard to come by so far this year. I think I remember HSC playing Guilford at home on a Saturday when Monroe and those guys were seniors which must have been 2002 or 2003. Don't rember one since although most of our home conference games seem to be on Saturday this year. Again, Good Luck and I hope the Quakers carry the ODAC banner well.

VWC held off Salisbury in VaBeach tonight in a solid rebound from the Averett loss.  Can't remember the final, but it was a bit closer than most Marlin's fans would've liked; the fish trailed by 1 at the half.  Salisbury played tough and kept it very tight until the final 5-10 minutes. #1 (Ray Williams?) gave them fits with his physical guard play.  Adair let the game come to him and still had an impressive contest.  Balenga really stuggled from beyond the arc.  Competitive game but hopefully the Marlins are gradually rounding into shape.  It doesn't seem like Macedo has settled on a rotation yet; until he does, no one has seen what they're capable of.

Far too early yet to tell what VWC will do this year, as you said.

But as another poster stated earlier on this chain, VWC is any school's biggest game of the year, and they've definitely got the target painted on their heads.  Good luck to them in that regard.

But lovin' the high profile ODAC school.  With the exception of R-M (and maybe a few other ODAC clubs ;D), I hope the Marlins roll. 8)

Guilford over Greensboro 78-74 in OT at the Coliseum.

Good game that Guilford tried to lose in the 2nd half, but the Quakers finally prevailed.  The Quakers had a 38-25 lead at the half, but Greensboro has some good athletes and tied it at 67 all with a three-pointer with just a few seconds to go in regulation.  Guilford went up 76-74 on a clutch 15-foot jumper by Belkoski from the right side with about 8 seconds to go in OT.  Greensboro brought it to the halfcourt line and used their last TO with 3.5 seconds to go.  Then one of the Pride guards cutting for the inbounds pass went out of bounds on the sideline.  Snipes was fouled on Guilford's inbound pass and made both FT's for the final score.  Greensboro tried a deperation heave with their 1.7 seconds, but it was off the mark.

Snipes had 30, Strong had 23 (11 rebounds) and I saw at least four Pride players with points in the 'teens.  Guilford freshman Justin Strickland went down with an ankle injury in the second half, was taken to the locker room and did not return.  I hope it's just a sprain and not a break, but he may be out a few weeks.   Ouch!

Guilford football players were there showing off the Soup Bowl trophy, but it all seemed to be good-spirited fun by both sides.  My congratulations to the Greensboro fans for their school spirit.

Nice game by both teams.  Pride now 3-1 while Guilford moves to 3-0.  Good luck to both the rest of the season!

Got 'er done!  :)  Guilford wins one for the ODAC.  See my post about a very tight game down the stretch.

Whew.  Guilford won the first half, Greensboro won the second by an equal margin.  Clutch play in overtime by Belkoski, Snipes, and Kimbrough (with a big charge taken).  Fine block by Strong somewhere down the stretch when it was really needed.

I wonder if its just me, but it seemed there were a remarkable number of uncalled fouls that were visible even from the stands.  Lots of called fouls also.

Jordan Snipes ended up with 30, I think.  He seemed to be the most efficient player on the floor.

Greensboro showed a lot of spirit in the way they came back.
Guilford showed a lot of determination in pulling this one out. I liked the attitude.

I have no idea what the coach thinks about this one.  Maybe, "More rebounds, guys." and "Way to stick with it."

Hey, sludge.  Nice game by Jordan Snipes and Ben Strong.  I enjoyed the blocks as well.  Someone also got a good block on Ben late in the game.  Great clutch shot by Belkoski.  I was worried that we were going to let this one slip away, because the Pride had the momentum in the second half.   Are you going to be at the Lynchburg game on Saturday?  Say hello if you spot me.

sludge

I saw the stats, actually Guilford was even-up on rebounding with Greensboro.  Amazing.  Shows you what I know.
Strong had a poor shooting night from the floor but was good from the line and pulled out a double-double.

I look forward to seeing more balanced scoring for the team.  I know they can do it, as they did in that Elon game.
I regret Justin Strickland's injury.  I wish him the very best.

See you at the Lynchburg game, hasanova.
