Every 18 hours - just like clockwork!  lol

It's probably the anti-doggerel police at work.   ;)

I've ruled out a trip to Greensboro this weekend.  I left the E&H game on Wednesday with a minute left.  I thought it best to leave before my frustration rose to a level that would pose a danger to other drivers on the way back home.  I'm not sure I could endure a Greensboro trip.   :(
Good morning, Jim.   I fully understand your disappointment with the Maroons so far this season, but they've often proven a thorn in Guilford's side.  Coach Moir and RC will make adjustments.  I look forward to meeting you another time.  Peace

OBSERVATIONS: While it's still early, this ODAC season is fascinating so far with upsets and surprise stars. Let's not overlook what someone referred to as a perennial bottom feeder, Lynchburg College, who jumped up and took a bite out of RMC. Did anyone notice that LC was 21-21 from the FT line that eclipsed the old 04 E&H record of 20-20? LC guard Danny Reed is proving a problem for some court veterans as well. And how about Guilford College and W&L. I've been around a few years and it's refreshing to see these schools getting their due acolades early on. I attended the VWC - Bridgewater game on Wednesday and sensed Coach Leathermans's frustration but also observed that he's got a bunch of freshmen who are going to be very good soon. I also talked to Coach Macedo who is still looking for the right mix and rotation of players. VWC's offense is very good but their defense plays in spurts. The next few weeks are going to be very enjoyable.
Hi, JWW.  I did observe Danny Reed's good play for LC (he also played well against GC last Saturday), but had not noticed the stellar FT shooting by the Hornets.  Wow!  21 for 21.  You can overcome a lot of other problems and still win some games with that sort of performance.  My HS coach used to stress that all the time, "They can't play Defense on you when you shoot FTs, so that's why they call them Free Throws!"  lol  Easier said than done if you don't have a good technique, but LC will stay in a lot of games if they can keep that up.  I'm very pleased with Guilford's great start , but I could see they were going to have a good team earlier in the fall.  Obviously, winning at HSC on Wednesday night was a big early hurdle, but there are many more over the next few months.  I think this year's ODAC race has great potential to be a good one.  Peace

I didn't see that stunning line from LC.  Whew!  Way to make them pay!

That defensive formula sounds different from the one they used last year...  I'll bet they get better.

Hey everyone, my apology, but I've decided to stop posting for awhile.  Two posters, for reasons completely unknown to me, have systematically each smited me every 18 hours for some time now.  A fellow poster even brags in another room how he likes to do this sort of thing.  I'm sure it isn't him/her, but someone's doing it.  I don't understand that sort of thinking, but I guess they have, to them, rational reasons.  :)  These posters do it any time of day as soon as their 18 hours is up, so they have a lot more free time on their hands than I do!  Thanks to everyone who's tried to keep me propped up, but it's a losing battle.   lol  I know it's not a big deal really, but they've taken all the fun of posting away for me.  I have a lot of other pressing concerns in my life and this forum has been a welcome respite for almost two years.  When it ceases to be fun, however, it's time to stop.  No more limericks and no more play-by-play on ODAC updates such as I did on Wednesday night for the HSC fan who couldn't listen in.  No more good-natured support of the Quakers and the ODAC in general.  No more new word every so often.  lol  Too bad - for me and you.   I've really enjoyed talking to almost all of you and if anyone wants to contact me about the Stagg Bowl or Quaker sports or any other topic, feel free to email me.  It's been my pleasure.  Good luck and happy holidays!  Peace

hasanova..don't let a couple of people with little to do but try and be cute get in your way of good conversation and schmack with fellow ODAC posters. Take it from me...and I've had my share of haters and bitten back a few times myself...just let it roll off like water off a duck's back and keep pressing forward. Hell even Scottie was a -75 or something  last season but just kept plugging away. The karma thing is a cute little idea but in the grand scheme of things means little to nothing. You bring a lot to this board and I for one enjoy your posts and think the board would be less if you leave it...just  my 2 cents worth

Mr. Ypsi

hasanova, I'm with Steely!

Besides, with the age your car must be, by the time you come back you might have to re-register as HADanova! ;D

Hey hasanova, please don't bolt.  The only way the forces of darkness can win is if you leave before the job is done!  (Whoops, I've got indigestion over that one.)   Anyway, alot of us enjoy your presence here, and we don't give a flying Walenda about the karma thing.  Your true karma is shining through.

When it ceases to be fun, however, it's time to stop.

Almost everyone who has been a regular on D3hoop takes a break now and then.  I hope you'll be back soon.

BTW, before the "smite" or "karma" feature of this version of the software that Pat adopted for D3hoops, he had software that allowed posters to award stars for each post.  One star for a post meant you didn't like it; five stars meant you really liked it.  On the a couple of threads there was an unknown poster who gave Warren Thompson and other regulars one star for any and every post.  They called him/her the "One Star Bandit".   That kind of random behavior eliminated any value that the star system might have had.  I doubt that Warren Thompson and others were ever deterred from posting their thought by the antics of the "One Star Bandit".  Consider yourself in elite company if not one, but two "Smite Bandits" have singled you out for attention.

Peace back at you.

If Guilford thinks they can come out against Roanoke today with less than big effort, then they'll go down.  Roanoke beat us at Guilford last year, and the W&L beat us on the road last year, so maybe we've learned about big effort.  Picking Guilford.

Other than that, tough day for picking.   None of them sound easy and I predict I'll be wrong.
I'm picking a hungry Randolph-Macon at Eastern Mennonite
Although Lynchburg is playing well, I'll pick Emory & Henry at home.
Picking Virginia Wesleyan at Hampden-Sydney. Doubts about the pick, but VWC till proven otherwise.
Any of these feel like they could go either way.

The old "One-Star Bandits" have likely morphed into today's "Sneaky Smiters," thus demonstrating that evolution doesn't always entail progress and improvement.

I don't have any other details besides the score, but it looks like Lynchburg beat RMC 78-70.  Wow!  What an interesting development.  Congratulations to the Hornets.

(Groggily)  What?

Sorry guys.  Passed into unconciousness at the conclusion of the R-M/LC game, and was on the floor for two days.  Just came to. . . :-\

Kidding.  I was out of town.  Didn't see that one coming, even though we have an interesting history with LC (bouncing us out of the ODAC tourney in the first round a couple of years ago comes to mind).  Got to give the Hornets credit.

Will be looking for some payback when you guys come to Crenshaw, though (evil laugh). ;D

Also, Hasanova, you're not allowed to stop posting.  If these past two games are any indication of what we're in store for this year, it ought to be a wild one in the ODAC.

The Marlins win over Hampton Sydney .  78-60? I think thats the right score.  Wtg Marlins.

Guilford defeated roanoke 77-67 with a mediocre effort. The quakers suffered from beyond the arc and it seems that strong didn't have a good game either. Kimbrough and snipes led the way for the quakers with a refuse to lose mentality

Kimbrough was all the more remarkable because he wasn't 100% healthy and I also notice the determined mentality.  The team overall didn't look as sharp as it often does.
Snipes looks like a candidate for player of the week!
We have high standards for Strong, which is neat I guess, but 6 of 11 from the floor, 6 of 7 from the line, 7 rebounds (ties game high) and four blocks could be considered a good game.  (Couldn't it?)  Burge and Neville continued to deliver great production.  Neville is a terror from the line.  Belkoski is a loose ball fanatic.  Sanborn gets a surprising number of rebounds per minute.

Laporte and had a good game with 10 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 steals.
Peery was also hot with 14 and 2.

Glad to have a win against Roanoke.  I'd expect the Maroon team I saw to win quite a few games this year.

ODACfan1

Caught my second Emory and Henry game tonight as they hosted Lynchburg.  They thoroughly dominated the whole game and won by about 40 points.  This same team looks much more focused since the last time I saw them in a sluggish loss to Hampden-Syndey.  They honored a senior, #44, tonight for Emory and it was great to see him go out with a win.  I believe he graduated early.  Everyone got into the action tonight and scoring seemed to be very balanced.  My favorite players for us continue to #14 Cantone, #3 JD Dyson, wow is he fast and he really gets after it on D.  # 12 Lutton seems to be a glue guy for this team and it looks like guys really look to him for some leadership.  Weinz and Hart are the young scorers for this team and I really hope they continue to carry the team offensively.

So first semester is over for this team and they look good, and plus a huge addition comes after break as Lance Reasbeck rejoins the team.  Look out ODAC.
