but the subject of the H-SC 1999 NC game has come up a couple of times in the last few days. I still get a knot in my stomach when I think about that game. Absolutely, the most incredible game I have ever witnessed in person. (and maybe ever)

The 1999 National Championship game was, without any doubt, the most exciting sports event I have ever witnessed.  The national championship .... and the game is tied at the end of regulation.  The game's still tied at the end of the first overtime.  It is amazing that not one person in the Salem Civic Center had a heart attack during that game.  I know quite a few people who felt they were close to having one.

Both teams deserved a trophy after that one .... tied twice, but only one trophy, and Wisconsin Platteville was leading when the buzzer sounded.  I'll never forget Jeremy Harris' last shot, put up in desperation as time was running out, and how tremendously difficult it was for the players to go out on the court for the runner up trophy.

VWC had it for winning the 2006 NCAA DIII championship
then they lost the belt to Averett
then Averett lost the belt to Guilford
then Guilford lost the belt to VWC
then VWC lost the belt to E&H
then E&H lost the belt to RMC
then RMC lost the belt to BC
and now BC will play GC next on Feb. 10

I hope that Bridgewater beats Guilford and then beats Emory & Henry.  They'll keep the belt and essentially assure themselves of a tournament berth.  Then I hope that the Eagles lose it to Roanoke on February 14.

I also hope that EMU loses their next 3 games, which will assure that they don't make the ODAC Tournament.  Then I hope that they defeat Roanoke in the last game of the season, on February 17, taking the Championship Belt away from the Maroons.  That way, even if they end their season without making the ODAC Tournament, the Eastern Mennonite Royals will be the Division III National Champions, at least until November ........... right?

I agree with your logic (as convoluted as it is), except I have to balk at the "I hope Bridgewater beats Guilford" part.  lol  I hope you understand if I don't share your sentiments on that count.  :)

This very type of scenario is why this thing is bogus and a waste of time. :)

A little posting up humor is good for the soul. I hope Pat thought so too!

Fellow posters -  Kudos to all, for your humorous jibes aimed at Mr. Coleman.

Nothing personal Pat - they're just funny :P

I didn't have a problem with the jabs. I just think the Belt thing is a little silly and I'm not afraid to say so.

It is a little six degrees of Kevin Baconish.  But I found it humorous, nonetheless. ;D

One has to wonder:

What is worse on this board...  The "Belt thing" or Weekly Pick 'ems?
