Always look forward to the ODAC tourney and this one could be interesting. VWC is clearly the best team, followed by Guilford College. At this point E&H and/or RMC are staged as the two teams with best opportunity to pull off a major upset and I base that on their performance against the top two teams. They have shown they can match up and play a competitively against them. Of course there are several teams capable of beating E&H and/or RMC before either has a shot at the top two seeds but I don't see any other team having a real shot at beating VWC and/or Guilford.

Wish I could be in attendance but family obligations pull me away.
Good luck to all this week and into the tourney.
I look forward to the ODAC tournament as well.  Thursday's Quarterfinals are too difficult for me to attend during a work week, but I plan to be there on Saturday if the Quakers survive to the Semifinals.  I have to agree with tigerfanalso's assessment.  VWC has clearly shown they are the best team, but I think about three or four teams are capable of pulling an upset.  E&H already did it once and RMC has played the Marlins close twice.   RC has beaten GC this season and a couple of other teams have come close.  Granted, VWC spanked GC the first time they met at the beach, but I saw the game in Greensboro and that could have gone either way.  The Quakers lost 72-69 with only one three-pointer to 10 for VWC.   Ouch!  The result might be the same a 3rd time, but I have to say the Quakers are playing some of their best ball of the season right now.  To me, VWC and GC are definitely favored to meet in the championship game, but I won't be surprised if one or two other teams are playing on Sunday.  That unpredictable quality is what makes tournament play so great!

Congratulations to VWC (21-3) for moving up to #2 this week (one 1st place vote)!

Also in the ODAC, Guilford (19-3) moved up from 24th to 17th.  I believe the 17th spot and their 179 points are all-time DIII highs for GC.   Go Quakers!

Ya betcha.  http://www.d3hoops.com/dailydose/?p=253   :)

Thanks, I just read it.  You do a good job with that every week!

Will the Tigers be able to break the seven game winning streak currently enjoyed by RMC this weekend ? I don't know what they need to do differently in order to win,  but whatever it is I hope they figure it out. What a great way for Green and Edwards to go out by beating their arch rival in their last game at Fleet.

Good luck Tigers !!!!

You know, I'm a little bit envious of the rivalry HSC has with RMC.  When I was in college, Guilford ALWAYS got up for High Point or Elon.   Since we've joined the ODAC and DIII, however, it's been a little harder to develop a true rivalry game.  I still hope one will emerge.  Geography and history obviously play a big role in rivalries, but here's to the Tigers and the Jackets!  My hat goes off to you, so may the best team win!

The HSC vs. RMC rivalry really is special. Several years back the two meet in the last game of the regular season ranked 1 & 2 in the country. It really does not get any better than that !!! Even now with both teams down (as compared to recent history) the game is still intense with a lot of pride on the line.

Hopefully Guilford will grow into a similar situation with VWC if both schools continue to stay on top of the ODAC.Only time will tell !!!!

Good luck the remainder of the season. I'd like to see Guilford upset VWC in the tourney but you've got to get to the finals to have a shot !!!

You're right - traditional rivals at #1 & #2 meeting in the last game of the season - it surely is hoops heaven!  A genuine rivalry game is one where the records truly don't matter and a coach can save (or lose) his job by winning (or losing) that one game!  VWC is developing into a nice rivalry - there was certainly some intensity on and off the court when they came to Greensboro.  Believe it or not, I also see some of that when the E&H teams come to town.  I'm still smarting from some of the late calls in the Wasps last second football win.  lol  As long as they employ the "system" in basketball, I'll admit to some nervousness there too.  :)

Thanks for your best wishes.  I know Guilford has a very good team - we'll see if we have a great team.  We just have the misfortune (or good fortune depending on how you look at it) to play in the same conference as the Marlins.   I think we can beat VWC, but I also know the Quakers are smart enough to know they have to win on Thursday and Saturday to get to Sunday!

This is truly one of the great rivalries in the entire country. I'm sure the football rivalry will bounce back from the recent Tiger domination. Ok Jacket fans, feel free to chime in right here and post about the Jacket basketball streak.  ;D I have been a follower of and part of this rivalry since the late 1960's and have a family connection going back to the 1950's. Matter of fact, my father caught the decisive TD pass to beat R-MC in 1961. (had to get a plug in for Pops) It has been a priviledge to witness the many great games over the years. I'm sure that no one on this board has ever had anything to do with soaping the fountain in Ashland or painting the eagle in Death Valley.
Speaking of that eagle....get that _ _ _ _ thing out of there. I know the story of how it ended up there but at least move it somewhere else. No wonder the Tigers can't beat BC with that evil eye...or should I say eagle eye staring at them.  ;D Course they are still 50 and 12 aganst BC all time  ;D  Ok Llama, skoal, & co...your turn to chime in.  ;D

sludge - See you tonight for W&L!  I hope the Quakers continue to play well.  An opportunity for #20 tonight - and that hasn't happened in a long time.  Hopefully, seniors Snipes and Burge will have great outings in their last regular season game at Ragan-Brown.

Hasa - how's the weather in G'boro?
The Quakers were the beneficiary of 6 straight missed FT's in last 45 seconds at W&L. Not to mention a awesome game by Belkowski. I for one think this should be a good game.

Hey baselinejam - Cold and yucky.  lol  It was raining a lot yesterday and last night with temperatures in the 34-36 degree range.  Today, it's drizzling with temperatures still in the thirties.  If it had been a few degrees colder the last few days, we'd have a foot of snow, but it looks as though it's supposed to clear off by tonight.

Don't remind me about the near "miss" in Lexington.  :)  When Bienemann went to the line with 0.3 to go, I had a knot in my stomach.  I never expected him to miss both.  For some reason, the Quakers and Generals often have close games even when we shouldn't on paper.  I don't know what to expect, but I will say Guilford has played some of its best ball since surviving versus W&L two weeks ago.  Strong is on another planet right now and it's Senior Night for Snipes and Burge.  I'll be there!

Dodged a bullet here in the mountains of VA. Did get a little ice but a degree or two colder and it would have been an icy mess. Bubba have a 4WD truck that will climb a tree but even Bubba don't mess around with no ice.  8) Sorry Hasa...I know that last sentence gave you chest pains.  ;D
Any plan in place for posters to get together in Salem next weekend? You know, a reserved seating area at mid court or maybe a hospitality room with stocked bar? ;D  Hey Pat, can't you throw your weight around a little with Brad Bankston and hook us up?  ;)

Hey, allsky7, I was born and raised in a place called Claudville (Patrick County, VA).  If you take the time to find it, you'll realize sentences such as that are rampant.  lol  No interpretation is needed.  lol  When we go home, my brothers and sisters and I compare notes on lines we hear at the local general stores or on the signs we see in front of such and such Holiness Church.  They're pretty funny, actually.  Consider this conversation overhead at my childhood friend's country store this past weekend:

Bubba:  Hey Mike, I saw this "thang" in the Stuart Enterprise the "udder" day where "somebuddy" was fixin' to sell a used two-story mobile (rhymes with slow file) home!
Mike:  Bubba, you damn fool, "dere" ain't no such "thang" as a two-story mobile home!
Bubba:  Well, by golly, dere oughta be for people what's got money!

I rest my case!  lol  PS I have a two 4-wheel drive vehicles, so let's go!
