Too much discussion regarding POY. Reality is Adair if VWC wins the tourney
and Strong if Guilford wins the tourney. Adair if neither VWC nor Guilford win the tourney. They are the only two players worthy; I think Strong shoud be POY but the the likelyhood of Adair not being selected is remote. He was POY last year (in the nation) and something drastic has to happen for him not to win POY in the ODAC this year.

Tourney should be very interesting. I think Guilford is in the easiest side of the bracket. If E&H survives the first round and plays VWC in the semifinals they could easily wear VWC down for the championship game. IF Guilford gets to the final and catches VWC with tired legs we could see an upset.
Wish I could be there ... Good luck to all and safe travel to all that will be in attendance !!!!

Just for information..I believe all the awards are given at the banquet before the tourney begins.  So, I am afraid the tourney won't decide who the POY is .  Good luck to all the teams in the ODAC.

I think you're right.  It's awarded at the banquet.

Thanks for the insight . I'm out of the loop on most things outside of my job, did not realize POY was decided pre-tourney. So much for my thoughts on the subject.

Sorry my Tigers were so tough on your Jackets on Saturday. I guess thats what happens when your rival comes to town with a 7 game win streak.
I was not able to attend but it must have been fun for the home team !!!

Good luck during the tourney. The loss on Sat. got you away from VWC and E&H so all is not loss.

With all due respect to my fellow posters, this is the problem to which I refer.  Last year should have NOTHING to do with this year.  :)

Congratulations to ODAC teams VWC (one first place vote) and GC who retain their respective #2 and #17 national rankings.  I do believe, however, that both teams increased their point totals.  I'm pretty sure GC did, but I'll have to rely on David Collinge to keep me up-to-date on the Marlins.  Way to go!

Alright.  I think some of you guys are myopic, but perhaps I should take off my glasses and look in the mirror.  ;D

Anyway, how about All-conference?

VWC gained 6 points, but there's not much headroom for them.  Guilford gained 64 points, which was actually one of the biggest upward moves of this relatively quiet week.

To keep this dreadful POY discussion going...

A. It is announced at banquet with other awards the night before the tourney begins.  My guess is coaches votes are already in.
B. Historically, the coaches have favored seniors for this award over a comparable underclassman.

Adair for POY. He's clearly the best player in the ODAC!

justafan02

FYI- VWC's previous record for points in a career was  1,666.

These awards will be announced at the banquest and I assume it is scheduled for Wednesday evening about 6pm.  Don't quote me on that.  If Jim Loesel were still posting, we could get more definitive information on the time of the banquet.

My All-Conference Team ..... without being exact:

POY
- Brandon Adair, VWC

Other Definite First Teamers
- Ben Strong, GC
- Jason Sager, EMU
- Greg Bienemann, W&L

Maybe First Team, and certain Second Teamers:
- Ton Ton Balenga, VWC
- David Carlson, RMC
- Jordon Snipes, GC

Other possible Second Teamers:
- Brad Parkes, EMU
- Curtis Peery, RC
- Josh Fox, BC
- Drew Prehmus, HSC
- Mike Edwards, HSC
- Turner King, HSC (Possible FOY)
- Dominic Trawick, BC (Possible FOY)
- Steven Echols, LC (Possible FOY)

POY -  Brandon Adair, again, hands down!
FIRST TEAM - Brandon Adair - what can you say...ALL All American
Ton Ton Balenga - shooter with an attitude
                     Tyler Fantin - work horse
                     Thomas Sumpter - solid
                     Ben Strong - tallest

There you have it. My unbiased selection ;D

Thanks for your gracious reply, TFA.  I appreciate it.

But I had a feeling going into Fleet that the Tigers were going to win, although I expected it to be close.  So while I wasn't surprised at the outcome, I was properly horrified by the margin of it.

As the gap in the score just kept increasing, I began to feel a lot like the way Marty McFly must've felt as he began to become invisible during the Under the Sea dance in "Back to the Future."  In fact, the strains to "Earth Angel" began to run through my head during the last few minutes the game!!  I know I had Marty's look of horror on my face. ;D

But I'm still sticking with my team! ;)

It's not at all clear to me.  Too bad he had the second best year in the ODAC this season.
