As I stated earlier, you getting too frustrated over this POY debate. I have no bias, Strong clearly had the best year and that cannot be debated, he does not play on the best team and probably will not win the award for that reason and that reason only. Adair is great, has enjoyed another great year, he has the history of winning this award, and he is probably going to get it; that does not change my mind about Strong. He is clearly the best in the ODAC in my opinion this year and that is what the award should be based on; however, I don't think the voters will go that way. Hope the surprize us but I'm not counting on it. Hang in there, we all know "life is not fair".
Thanks.  Just trying to debate my case and I hope everyone can appreciate that.  PS  I have lots and lots of personal experience with your last line!  lol

I think the POTY debate will be settled soon enough.  However, does anyone who has seen Adair play really think he couldn't average at least 6-8 more a game if he needed to?  He's the most gifted player on the floor every game and he often shows it in ways that don't appear on the stat sheet.  Both these guys had amazing seasons and either one will be a worthy winner, but don't undermine Adair's ability by basing too much on PPG.  Some have pointed to Strong facing more double teams because his teams talent level is lesser; I worry that these people are either 1)insane or 2) haven't attended many VWC games.  Both players, hands down the best 2 in the conference, see double teams all game every game.  We'll see who wins, but there are a few illegitimate points floating around the board.  Both are great players; we'll just have to wait and see what the coaches think.

Thank you, thank you so much!  First, I'd like to thank my parents, Lowell and Dorothy.  Without them, none of this would be possible.  Next, I'd like to thank my 10th grade English teacher, Mr. Houck.  Gosh, he was hard on me, but to this day I still cannot end a sentence in a preposition!  Then there's my mechanic and my CPA and my brothers and my sisters and uh, gee, I feel as though I'm forgetting someone.  Oh, my neighbor Bill, and .... lol

The other three guys Adair was probably up against for NABC POTY were John Bedford from Amherst (17 ppg, 4.6 rpg, 2.6 apg), Keelan Amelianovich from IWU (18.6 ppg, 4.4 rpg, 1.6 apg), and Dan Russ from Wittenberg (15.3 ppg, 6.5 rpg, 1.8 apg).

None of those guys had eye-popping stats.

I was referring to the players like the kid from Lincoln who had "eye popping stats" that Adair beat out.
I certainly realize stats alone don't mean everything.  For starters, I'd be tempted to throw out anything a Lincoln Lion got in their game with OSU-Marion!  One thing about Strong that hasn't been discussed in great detail (although coopesharpe alluded to it) is his blocks.  He led the ODAC by such a large margin and average (60 blocks/24 games = 2.5 bpg), but if you watched as many games as I did you know he greatly "influenced" a lot of shots - and who took them - by his presence.  It's hard to quantify, but that "intangible" factor was certainly there.

Well deserved, hasanova.  Heck, I can't even think of a sentence that I could put a preposition in.

OK....one final post on this POY thing. GO TIGERS!!!!   :D

Hasa....congrats on you POY award. I concur. Your stats and intangibles blow every one else out of the water. No one even close.   ;D  8)

Hope to see some of you in Salem. If the Tigers can't pull the upset(s), then I would love to see VWC and GC knock heads.  :o

They didn't play OSU-Marion last year. Not an issue.

"jimmy" my obligation is done!

steelyglen .... I really appreciate the work you've done to keep the pick'ems going this season, despite the dictatorial movement of that piece of our discussion to a separate board.  Thanks!!!!

My only concern is that no one has notified me who is going to deliver my RC and Moonpie ..... and how long they will take to arrive.  Where is Stan Bright these days?  Will Scottie be able to finally take care of this kind of simple task?  My taste buds are talking and my stomach is starting to growl .....

My only point on POY issue is that it is not as clear as some would like to argue.

If Adair gets it, I wouldn't be shocked and he is well-deserving.  If Strong gets it, I would be a bit more surprised but he is also well-deserving.  I just think it is a lot closer and leaning towards Adair for the reasons stated earlier.

And, often when a non-first place teamer wins it, there has been a player that has been head and shoulders above the rest of the pack (e.g. Williford/Yuhasz).  While Strong's numbers are awesome, I certainly think he and Adair are in the same "pack."

And, sludge, some of us do know what the coaches are thinking or how they think....

You make a great point, one which I failed to realize.

Strong (6-foot-11) is head and shoulders above Adair (6-foot-5) ... as was Williford and Yuhasz, both being big men. ;D

I think I'd have to pick Strong as the most dominant player & therefore the POY.

I love  statistics and formulas. But I believe in Mark Twain's axiom  - 'there are lies, damn lies & statistics'.

There are qualitative aspects to be selected to All-ODAC  as well.  I think Snipes & Balenga are very good players. I also think that  a good player may find it is easier to thrive on  a good team when he is the 2nd banana. Would they perform as well if they were the ones receiving all the double team attention?
