Great games last night by all three ODAC teams.  Algernon was right.  Great defense by both teams.  Congratulations to HSC for making the Marlins earn their win.  It was a war.  On to the next battle. The Marlins and  the Quakers will have their hands full next weekend.  Lincoln and Mississippi College will not be cakewalks.   Both are dangerous teams that can score quickly.  Both are athletic also.  I am hoping that Coach Macedo and Coach Palombo can find ways to disable them and get a win.  Probably the hardest games they will play this year.    It is a shame that if they both win , that they will have to play one another but would still be very good to see an ODAC team in the final four again.   Both teams are deserving and have made the ODAC proud.   If either bring home a National Championship ...wowowow.    Good Luck to the Marlins and the Quakers..You are both winners !!

BREAKING NEWS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

VWC can not beat Mississippi College.  It does not matter where the game is played.

Go Chocs!! 8)

How profound....the #3 team in the nation is "not a cakewalk", to paraphrase.  With all due respect  to the ODAC, you make it seem like Mississppi College is not the favorite in this bunch.

Lincoln has been featured on ESPN, Comcast Sportsnet, ABC, and FOX
How many places WAS Lincoln featured when they ran up the score.... I bet it was more than that.  :o

Diehard,

I am also an alum.

NC,

They will soon find out that this MC team is for real.

I am indeed an alum, transplanted to North Carolina.  I did not play, but I was friends with leaders of both the men's and women's teams of the late 90's and early 2000's.  I have kept up marginally through the years, and I still love to hear about the Choctaws doing well.  I continue to be amazed at how much respect they do not get.  Choke as they might (see last year's sweet sixteen game) occasionally, Mississippi College is a dangerous team, and, from what I have seen through the streaming video, probably the best to come through any institution in this conference in some time, maybe ever.  I have my heart set on a national championship for the Choctaws, and anything less would be disappointing.

Lastly, I appreciate the distinction, diehard. :)

I've been smitten at least twice in the last ten hours. Since I still manage to have karma, it means that despite the fact that many MANY people dislike me, there are also people that like me too. Just try to ignore it, it doesn't mean much. :)

it just entertaining, nothing more.  :)

On another note, thanks for appreciating my "Sam Beatty" comment on the other board.  The Maryville fans may not have gotten it. ;D

Oh yeah, there's a lot of disrespect there.   ::)

I guess the proper thing to say is that Mississippi College has the best basketball team ever assembled on Planet Earth, and Virginia Wesleyan will do well to stay within 50 points of the Mighty Choctaws.  Although I suppose that would provoke outrage from those who think that MC's vast superiority extends into outer space as well.

Try this on for size: both Virginia Wesleyan and Mississippi College are outstanding teams, and Friday's game should be a classic.

NCChoctaw

Methinks we got carried away a bit.  I never said anything close to the previous post.  It should be a great game.  However, the original comment  carried a patronizing tone that seems to be prominent around D3 concerning MC.  Maybe I am wrong.  Worse yet, maybe the Choctaws have earned it, dropping the last two sweet 16 opportunities, losing to Lewis and Clark at home in the second round.  My point was simply that MC was made to sound like the underdog, again, when in fact they are the highest ranked team entering this foursome.

And yes, it should be a classic!  Any chance WVC sets up a video stream?

I haven't seen Mississippi College play but I looked at their website and checked their stats and their roster and on paper they look like a better team than the Marlins.... Macedo is going to notice this and the Marlins are going to prepare this whole week for the Choctaws..... hopefully MC will bring their fans to this game so this will be an intense one......

DeWayneCarter

Just received word that the sectional will be played at Virginia Wesleyan....... Lincoln and Guilford square off at 6 and VWC and Mississippi play at 8

My bet is that next Friday's sectional will be at Virginia Wesleyan.  The Sweet Sixteen games will be:

6pm: Guilford v. Lincoln
8pm: Mississippi @ Virginia Wesleyan

My bet was a pretty safe one, especially given the dismantling of Johns Hopkins and Catholic.

DeWayne ... but, as you know, paper is just paper .... and the Marlins' record speaks for itself:  30-3 last year, plus 25-4 this year = 55-7 over the past 2 seaons.  They were national champions last year, brought back essentially the same team, and are now hosting a Sweet Sixteen sectional this year.  Based on the Marlins' accomplishments on the court, I think that the Marlins are the favorite in any game they play.  And, as you say, Macedo will have them ready for any tough opponent.

t_money

I do not mean any disrespect to anyone on this board.  My point was simply that MC is very talented club and VWC is going to have their hands full.  Mike Jones will have this team ready and I am sure that VWC and all of their fans will be ready.

My previous posts were in response to an all ODAC final to get to the final 4.

I know that VWC played Mary Hardin-Baylor ealier in the season and lost in a close game.  They also defeated a good Hardin simmons team on the road in overtime.  MC defeated UMHB at home early in the year (75-47) and Hardin Simmons twice, including the ASC Championship game.  MC defeated HSU 70-67 at HSU.  I know you can not base the outcome on these stats but it sounds like these two teams are pretty evenly matched.

I just feel that if MC plays as they are capable they have a great chance to win.

Should be a good on Friday!

Go Chocs!!!!
