Not only did Mike Edwards pass the 1000-point career mark in the ODAC tournament, finishing his career with 1082 points, but Drew Prehmus also passed 1000-point mark in his final game of his junior year, last night's game against Virginia Wesleyan.

The Tigers' rising seniors have scored a bunch of points after 3 years at HSC:
   Drew Prehmus:  1002 points
   Troy Kaase:         750 points
   Tyler Murray:       550 points

The Tigers' outstanding freshman, Turner King, scored 343 points in his rookie season.

I know that VWC played Mary Hardin-Baylor ealier in the season and lost in a close game.  They also defeated a good Hardin simmons team on the road in overtime.  MC defeated UMHB at home early in the year (75-47) and Hardin Simmons twice, including the ASC Championship game.  MC defeated HSU 70-67 at HSU.  I know you can not base the outcome on these stats but it sounds like these two teams are pretty evenly matched.

Some food for thought....In the Mary Hardin Baylor Game, Ton Ton  Balenga was held scoreless and Brandon Adair had 6 pts on 2-9 from the floor and 2-9 at the stripe. Brandon did not play 1 minute against Hardin Simmons although Ton responded with 28 pts. A team effort to pull out a tough win on the road

Bottom line is VWC will need to be sharp next weekend. Good Luck to all and congrats on making it this far.

Lincoln has been featured on ESPN, Comcast Sportsnet, ABC, and FOX
How many places WAS Lincoln featured when they ran up the score.... I bet it was more than that.  :o

I'm pretty sure the piece on Lincoln was written at the start of the 2006-07 season - so before all the media coverage of the 201 put on OSU-Marion.

Everyone is saying that this weekends games will be great games.  I hope so, it is the sweet sixteen.

On another note, to say the Marlins have no shot of winning a game against anyone is crazy.  Ofcorse, they are vulnerable, but as is every team.  Are there any undefeated teams in DIII?   NOPE.

It will be a battle no doubt.  I agree that the Marlins can't take a very very talented MC team lightly, but MC best not underestimate the Marlins.....

Here's a little statistical tidbit from the Quakers' 1st two NCAA tournament games:

GC PG Kimbrough has quietly scored 18 total points on perfect shooting - 6/6 FGs, 4/4 treys & 2/2 FTs.  Shhh.

I don't think people realize how tough a conference the ODAC is. We may not have achieved true "power" status yet but that does not diminish how tough all ODAC teams play.  We are seldom the "favorite" in the national eye, yet we are still standing at the final buzzer.  ODAC teams simply don't give up and find ways to win. The Choctaws and the Lions sound pretty fierce. The Marlins and the Quakers don't sound as impressive, but I guarantee that if Mississippsi or Lincoln takes VWC and Guilford lightly, they will lose.  Should  be two great games next weekend.  Stay tuned.

Darn right, hasanova!  And the timing on some of those plays was remarkable.  Just when we needed something to stop a run on the other side, bam!

Fishtankfan:

I can't speak for the Choctaws, but I know Lincoln is coming back to Norfolk to take one game at a time.  If you recall, the Lions lost to the Marlins by 1 point (Va Wesleyan closest victory during last years NCAA), so hopefully our experience will render different results this year.

So far, only ODAC has beaten ODAC.  Let's keep it that way.

Nasty draw for the H-S Tigers, that was.  I think in some other regions, they'd still be playing.

In a couple games,if they don't think about anything but Lincoln, Guilford might face the same problem. And if they're lucky!  But we always figured Virginia Wesleyan stood between anybody and a championship, anyway.

I wanted to chime in just a bit about the Posts between ODAC fans and the two nice posters from MC.

First, I think the ODAC posters have a right to WANT an all ODAC Final to assure one team to the Final Four. Every conference wants bragging rights especially one hoping to gain POWER status like the ODAC.

Second, it is right for VWC fans to think that they will win no matter who they play. VWC is undefeated at home, and they are playing at home against a team that will have some major travelling to bring fans to the game. VWC plays tough at home and those fans can definitely bring them back into the game. I am 100% sure that the fans are the only reason they beat AU in the first round (I was there and the fans pulled them back to the game).

Third, I asked a VWC official about seating, it seats 1300, but they sold 100 SRO tickets for the First Round games, so approx 1400 tickets might be available for the game.

GOOD LUCK TO THE QUAKERS AND THE MARLINS this weekend. I WANT TO SEE AN ODAC SECTIONAL FINAL, and I certainly think it is possible b/c VWC hasn't lost at home this year, and Guilford has been putting up some big numbers in the tournie, with impressive wins over Manhatanville and Johns Hopkins.

Well, Mississippi College is 27-2 for a reason and Lincoln University has their 3rd straight 20 win season.  Both can score, both are tough and both have been here before.   I think the Guilford and VWC fans will be a united ODAC crowd Friday night and help root both the Quakers and the Marlins to victory.  It certainly takes more than just the fans in the stands to win, but sometimes the venerated "sixth man" puts their team over the top against the toughest foes ... and this weekend will be really tough Sweet 16 competition!  At least for this Friday.... Go Quakers!  Go Marlins!  Thanks for all the support from all over the ODAC.  I know Quaker fans and players won't forget it when we're out and other ODAC teams are in!
