Maybe I am just missing it, but does UAA have a posting section???

It can be found in the multi-region topics section, as the UAA is a multi-region conference (spread across 5 regions.)

They are 24-4 on the season, they seem to win games by narrow margins, and the majority of their scoring comes from 3 guys, Nading, Ruths and Wallis. Looks like they usually start forwards Nading(6'6" soph) and Nikitas(6'5" sr.), center Troy Ruths(6'6" jr.) and guards Sean Wallis(6'2" soph) and Aaron Thompson(6'3" frosh.). The coach has been therefor 26 years, since 1971 when they resurrected the program. The top 3 score around 18 to 20 points on average it looks like.
If the Coach has been there since they resurrected the program in 1971, he has 36 years of service.  Whether it's 26 or 36, however, that's a long and storied career!

Thanks, pretty classy to provide that in .htm, for those of us who don't have Microsoft products installed.

VWC fans, please consider the following, as intended from a friend.
Please consider that it isn't very classy to boo the away team players as each one is introduced onto the floor.  FWIW.   :)
Rar.... this happened in the Sweet Sixteen I was at too. :( Where is the sportsmanship? ???

Was bummed to hear about both Jordan and Ton Ton... it's really sad to hear about D3 players acting like DI players... it sorta taints the purity of the game I'm so devoted to. :(  Since arguments have already been given in defense of Snipes... to be fair to Ton Ton, his trash talking probably comes at least partially as a defensice reaction from having his name made fun of in true south closeminded/racist fashion at games. Oh dear sweet Old Dominion from whence cometh my origins... the home of so many fond memories of elementary school taunting for the crime of being Asian....  ::)

On the other hand, I've never heard a negative word spoken about Strong, and I hear it's been at least as bad in the racist jeering category for him. All the stories I've heard include the word polite. And all I've seen are stats, which speak plenty. Clearly there are better alternatives than letting the fans or other players or refs get to you. I don't care if it's an effective game plan and works, running your mouth is still classless. Committing flagrant fouls in the heat of the moment is still classless, even if it's your last game and the other person is provoking you. We should all expect and demand better of ourselves and others.

On a much lighter note, with no offense intended to the very talented ODAC Poet Laureate (I definitely think this should be your title instead), I thought sludge's post about Lincoln was the best one from the sectional weekend. I love trash talk through poetry! :)
Wait, dunks are only worth two points?!?!!!? Why does anyone do them? - diehardfan
What are Parkers now supposed to chant after every NP vs WC game, "Let's go enjoy tobacco products off-campus? - Gregory Sager
We all read it, but we don't take anything you say seriously - Luke Kasten

Nova - my bad. Wash. U. dumped the program in 71, brought it back in 1981. Coach has been there since then.

I'm truly sorry that Ton Ton seems to have the reputation as being the nastiest player in the ODAC. That kid has been through so much in his young life. I've known him since he was a freshman and I think he's a great kid.  ???

Hey diehard.....correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems to me that you are stereotyping me as a southerner. I was born in Richmond, live in the mountains of VA, drive a four wheel drive truck, wear overalls, and listen to Lynyrd Skynyrd. If you assume that I  "act in  true south closeminded/racist fashion" based on the fact that I am a southerner or any of these other factors, then you would be sadly mistaken. If you think that the South has a monopoly on racism, again you are sadly mistaken.  My feeling is that you are already aware of this but I felt compelled to respond to your post. For the record, I am not offended by your post as I am curious as to where you are coming from.
I'm an old schooler and think that players should play ball and keep their mouth closed. IMO, as a former player myself, players should be held to a higher standard than the fans, PERIOD!! As a former coach, I had zero tolerance for anything even close to improper behavior from my players, PERIOD!!  In a perfect world, fans would cheer for their team and not against the other. In reality, it is not that way, never has been, and never will be. Is trash talking from the players and fans worse now than it used to be? I personally think that among fans, it has remained pretty constant. Among players,I think it is worse today. IMO, the biggest difference is we live in a PC world where so many are offended by practically anything. That is not a judgement, just an opinion. I remember many times in Gammon at H-SC back in the 70's where things got pretty darn raucus. Perhaps even what I would consider over the line at times. Right, wrong, or otherwise, I just don't think people took it so personally back then. As a Tiger player or fan, you knew that when you went to Crenshaw in Ashland or a host of other gyms, payback would be hell. The best remedy was to go into that environment, keep your mouth shut, play your ass off, and come out with the W. The satisfaction of doing that is far greater than anything you could do or say in response to the crowd.

GO MARLINS!!  8)

If any of us can honestly say that we as athletes and fans never booed, said a harsh word about an opposing school, rival, player, coach, referee, cheerleader, band director, ticket taker, the little old lady who gave you the finger because you were rooting for the opposing team.....then you can cast the first stone my friend.

It's not a perfect world and neither are we.  There are lines drawn and lines crossed.  What you think is obscene, I may think is funny.  What I think is classy, you think is not.  The kid I look at as mentally tough on his opponents, most look at as a bad kid.  The fact of the matter is, you won't impress everyone and you won't discust everyone.  These are all opinions and definitions in our own mind.

I heard a professor say in college:  "I can't define obscenity, but I know it when I see it."

I think this is true for class, sportsmanship etc.  I am guilty as anyone, but who are we to judge?

justa.....I agree with what you said. It is not a perfect world and we are not perfect.  I certainly won't be casting any stones but there has to be a bar set somewhere.  I am of the personal opinion that the bar has been lowered dramatically over the years. Not just in athletics, but by society in general. If the bar is low, then we will most likely aspire to that standard. If the bar is higher, likewise. Setting that bar can be a complicated thing but I'm not sure I like the direction it is headed. I will say that I think that D3 athletics has done a much better job of maintaining a higher standard than most segments of our society. That, at least in part is what attracts many of us to D3 in the first place. IMO, we should keep that standard high. Our children are watching and where we set it, they will surely achieve it.

No problem, jww.  It just didn't quite add up - now it makes perfect sense.

You guys certainly know Ton Ton personally and I don't, so I appreciate and respect your thoughts.  I hope he and the Marlins have a successful trip to Salem!

Maybe I am the only one, but I loved the fact that the home team fans would boo us.    Some of my fondest memories from High School and College involve the home team fans ripping me/us the entire game.    Going to HSC, RMC or EMU was the best.  The fans were merciless and would pick on everyone...from the star of the team to the last guy on the bench.

IMHO...DivIII Basketball players don't get very many tangible rewards.  No fame, scholarship $ or huge crowds.  The chance to BYA in front of, and quiet, a hostile crowd (no matter the size of the crowd) is one of the oh so sweet benefits.  As a former player (who actually played very little) I had more than my fair share of attention from opposing fans...I wouldn't have wanted it any other way.

I could introduce you to a few DIII Baseball, field hockey or soccer players who would give anything to play in front of a crowd so vested in the outcome of the game that they would take the time and effort to boo them!

Oxy-

If at least one person thinks its wrong, I am sure that we all need to be protected from it.

sad.

Good to hear the earlier nice words about Ton-Ton.

How about that VWC-Washington U games.  It sounds like the matchup in the paint might be pretty good (although I'd give the edge to Adair), and the matchup on the perimeter might be pretty good (although VWC has a lot of artillery).

One wildcard is the floor:  I know for VWC, its just a little easier to hit those threes on your home floor.  At least, they've played many games in Salem.

Do you-all figure VWC for a win on this one?

justafan02

All I will say is that it will be a good game.  I refuse to put foot in mouth trying to predict the winner of the game (a lesson learned from an ASC poster earlier this week).
