So what was the score?
Amherst by 80-67.

Congratulations to the Lord Jeffs for their win and to the Marlins for a great season.  I know it's disappointing for VWC to lose, but what an honor to play in the Championship game two years in a row - with last year being victorious!  The Marlins can definitely carry themselves with pride!  Again, congratulations to Amherst and the NESCAC.

Congrats to Amherst (btw anyone notice that McLaughlin is a Chatham, NJ kid - nice hoop town).

Nice run VW!

The ODAC link to the  ODAC-USA South Senior Basketball Challenge is dead. Is there anywhere else I can see the rosters?
If you make every game a life and death proposition, you're going to have problems. For one thing, you'll be dead a lot. Dean Smith

Speaking for more than a few people let me say THANKS for that.  What a run (again) for the Marlins -- that vicious beating of Mississippi College scared the crap out of me.

I hope we can defend that tile as well as VWC did.  And I look forward to knowing what this feels like a year later!

Congratulations to the new National Champions , Amherst College.  May you represent Division lll basketball as well as the Marlins have done this past year.  You have a great team.. and to the Marlins, thank you for playing your hearts out this year , tenacious, tough, unbending and strong. You set an example for all teams in Division lll to live up to.   To  seniors Brandon, Thomas, Rodney, and Travis.  Thanks for the memories.  We will surely miss all of you and what you have accomplished. It won't  ever be quite the same .   May you all have as much success in your future endeavors as you did on the basketball court.   We close one chapter of basketball history tonight and begin another after a short pause. Stay tuned.

baselinejam - Try this previously posted link to Guilford's website - the rosters can be accessed at the top of the screen.

Congratulations to the new National Champions, the Lord Jeffs!  It's great for a team that was so disappointed in the Final Four last year to be able to hold it together, build on last year's success, and take it to a higher level this year and win the whole thing.  You beat a number of very fine teams along the way, including a fabulous team in the national championship game.

No longer can we say that "only ODAC beat ODAC", but the ODAC beat Manhattanville, Johns Hopkins, Averett, Hood, Lincoln, Mississippi, and Washington University, losing only to Amherst ..... a 7-1 record against non-ODAC teams!

The Tigers won't be able to say, for 2 years in a row, "We were the last team to defeat the national champion."  However, the Tigers still have pride in what they put together during the last few weeks of the season ..... a 1-1 record against the national runnerup, including a win that contributed to their ODAC championship.

Great season!!  Next year's may be just as interesting, although I'll miss seeing players like Mike Edwards, Matt Green, Brandon Adair, and Jordan Snipes.  It should be very tight at the top of the ODAC.

Congratulations to Ben Strong, D3hoops National Player of the Year!

And congratulations once again to Brandon Adair, 2nd team All-American and the linchpin of the Marlins' National Finalist team.

I have a friend who has watched every Marlins game they could this year who would like me to relay this message to the Marlins:       Although you lost, what a year you gave us! How many teams ever get that chance? You experienced what few teams ever do and how proud I was to be a fan.  You never gave in or gave up.  Walk tall.     My sentiments too.

Congratulations and high fives (if I could reach) to Strong and Adair, and to the entire teams that played great to allow them to get the recognition.

As for seniors...
First, some crocodile tears:
- I won't get to watch Adair's relentlessly efficient scoring, defense and clever moves anymore.
- I won't get to watch Mike Edwards drop yet another bomb on my team!
- I won't get to watch experienced troublemakers like Sager, Krovic do things I really wish they hadn't done.

And some real tears:
- I won't get to watch Thomas Burge's tough D, clever assists, rebounds, and opportunistic shots.  Also, I won't have his warm presence.
- I won't get to be shocked yet again, by another Jordan Snipes buzzer beater, and won't get to enjoy his also tough D, rebounding, assists and all around play.  He's probably the most electrifying player I've ever seen.

Thanks to these for all of it, on both sides of the ball.

And now I really am misted up so I'll stop.

Congratulations to the Marlins for an amazing season, and for incredible sustained exellence.

Congratulations to Brandon.  I can't always see his moves - alot I've times I'm left wondering "how did he get open for that shot in that place" or "how did he end up with that ball".  I've heard, though, how good those moves are.

Wishing all players fulfillment of their hearts throughout their lives.

Absolutely!  I just saw a small blurb about it in the Greensboro News and Record.  Congratulations to Ben and Brandon.  That's two years in a row for the ODAC.  Great!

Did I miss someone seeing SI mention Ben Strong's 59 outburst?!

I am not sure of the exact date of the issue, I think the most recent, but there was a tiny blurb about his scoring outburst.

I'll have to check on that - sometimes they do noteworthy events in Faces in the Crowd.  Vogelbach was in last year when he had a big game (or series of games).
