I can see LC adding football, but I have never heard that EMU is interested in starting a football program.
Maybe they were joking, but someone on an ODAC board produced documentation about a feasibility study a couple of months ago.

I think it was Llama that broke this story.  8) Don't remember any documentation about it though.
Hey, allsky7.  It seems as though someone had found a computer file with a name that suggested it was a feasibility study for EMU football.  I'm relying totally on memory, but it seems like it might have been skoal or snakehandler.  I've been wrong before, however, so it won't surprise me if I've had another brain failure.  lol

I tell ya Hasa, with the trend of the last 10 years or so, I doubt there are many schools out there that haven't at least discussed it behind closed doors. From a business standpoint, 40 or 50 extra paying customers per year can make a big difference. Not to mention all the other pluses of having a program. I guess it's just that initial startup cost that is so tough for some to get past.

When we added football at SU, President Davis said we could count on 100 extra bodies when it was said and done. 100 more people paying R,B and T vs. the expense. I never did an analysis and would be interested in seeing one. Does anyone have the R & E for the projected Lynchburg team?

All true, allsky7.  I think that's been the argument at most schools.  Just in NC and Virginia, I can think of a lot of schools that have started (or will soon start) programs since the late '80's:  Methodist, Brevard, Shaw, St. Augustine's, Campbell, UNC-P, Greensboro, NC Wesleyan, Averett, ODU, Shenandoah and CNU.  I'm sure I missed some, but those come to my mind right away.  I also remember when Ferrum was a JC and Averett was all women!  Yes, I know, I'm old.  lol

Since I was at Ferrum when they played JC sports, guess that makes me old too!!  :o Man I heard some tales about trips to Banner Elk for the Panthers. Never mind the game, if the stories are true, they may have been lucky just to get out NC at all.  ;D  Course, maybe those tales have grown like the size of the fish I caught Saturday.  :D

Speaking of Banner Elk, is Lees-McRae going to restart football?  One of my cousins went there her first two years before finishing at Radford and I remember my family going to visit and watching a Bobcats (?) game.

Don't know. Everyone else seems to be so they probably are too. Why did they get rid of football?  8)

I don't know either - probably too big of a budget portion at the time.

Here is the article posted on the WSET web site today. It also contains my SA post about how the headline was written. Just can't help myself sometimes.  :D Hasa really will get chest pains if he sees how poorly it is written.  ;D

I'm a little upset about this development.  Hope it bodes no long term effects.  I'm just gonna watch, wait and see.

Brilliant post on WSET, Allsky.  8)

Tiger Fans appreciate your concern .... Not exactly the type of PR needed
for a small, liberal arts, all male college located in Southside Va., but at the end of the day all of the great things about HSC will continue to attract quality kids ... hopefully ones that can really play f'ball and b'ball !!!!

Thanks Jacket. No one can say I don't have a sense of humor. :D It is a bad situation but I was just having a little fun with WSET.  ;D My grammar and writing are certainly less than perfect but it is truly amazing at the use of our language these days. These folks are journalist for goodness sake!!  :o There are mistakes on there almost daily.
I don't wish bad on anyone but hopefully no athletes were involved. The only additional info I have is that one of the arrested is from Salem.

I was very close to going to that small, liberal arts, all male college back in 1983, but four previous generations from R-M made the decision for me. 8)  But you don't have to tell me how good that school is, or about the quality graduate the college produces.  I've got a lot of great friends who are alumni of the school.

So aside from a certain Saturday in November, and a few evenings during the winter, I have nothing but the best of wishes for those Tigers. ;D

Still hate losin' to you guys in football, though. >:(
