Steely - Can you feel it? The momentum is building for another outstanding year for the ODAC Power Conference. What a shootout it will be! Back in March, the pre-pre season(heck, the 06/07 season had just concluded!), some of the prognosticators chose their picks for the 07/08 season. Here are mine and I'm stickin' to them: VWC, GC, HSC, BC, RMC, E&H, W&L, RC, EMU, LC. Good luck to all as we crank it up.  ;D

Steelyglen - It's good to hear your voice again.  You got me wondering about Randolph College's schedule .... It can be found, for anyone who's interested, at:
http://wildcats.rmwc.edu/mens_basketball/sched_results.asp

Regarding prognostications, I'll put those I made back in July up once again:

1) Hampden-Sydney
2) Guilford
3) Virginia Wesleyan
4) Roanoke
5) Bridgewater
6) Emory & Henry
7) Randolph-Macon
8 ) Washington & Lee
9) Lynchburg
10) EMU

So, Algernon, is that like a three way tie for first place? :D

yeah...I'm still waiting(none too patiently :-\) for Coach Macedo to post his schedule.
ditto jww...this is the first year...well since before i was team manager that i have no earthly idea what's going on in Macedoland. i know he's been real busy this summer with moving into a house and taking care of his newborn son. But you know Dave, he's always tried to keep things on the down low, i'm sure we'll get all the information we need when he's ready to give it. I think it will be interesting to see which big man steps up. i really hope hassell and fantin have been in the weight room this summer. i think the post is going to be the big key this year. v-dub has plenty of guards led by ton and d'juan but hassell, fantin, and battaglia have to step up for this season to be successful.

Macon's is now up.  Looks pretty interesting.

yeah...I just looked at it. I couldn't help but notice that Rhodes has refered to his alma mater for help on the bench in hiring former Lebanon Valley star J.D. Byers

When I ate Chinese food for lunch earlier this week, my placemat said 2008 was the "Year of the Quaker!"  :)  It'll be tight, but I honestly think Guilford will win the ODAC regular season this year.

jdubyadubya

Funny! Mine said 2008 was the year of the Marlin! ;D

jdubyadubya

Well, shiver me timbers and lo and behold, the VWC 07/08 schedule is up. Finally. Geez. :P

When does Randolph start men's hoops?

They start playing this year at the sub-varsity level - sort of like a club team but a little more imprtant than that. Several ODAC teams play them this year, including Lc playing a home and home with them. Next year they are supposed to officially become the 11th men's basketball playing member of the ODAC. It sounds like they went out and hired good coach, so Randolph might be competing with the ODAC schools sooner than most upstarts.

I see the ODAC like this:

Guilford
HSC
VA.W.
RMC (Rhoads will not allow a repeat of last year)
RC
EH
Bridgewater
W&L
EMU
LC

I can wait for it to get started as I want the f'ball season to last a real long time but the b'ball season should be alot of fun. Good luck to all in 07/08; hopefully the ODAC can get another team to the final 4 !!!!!

Kaase, Medlin, Murray, And Jyri were playing the other evening and I believe they will be hard to handle on both ends of the court. HSC might have the best GROUP of post players in the ODAC.

ODACfan4life

How will HSC's guards be after losing two senior starters?

Now that school is back, anyone with any specifics on RMC's freshman class?  VWC's freshman class?

Will E&H still play the "run and gun" offense this year?

Does Roanoke have enough to get back to the ODAC championship game?

tigerrat

The HSC point will have to be team leader and take care of the b-ball as Turner king should handle the 2 spot. If these players get into foul trouble , the bench is not deep at those positions for extended playing time. The post will be relied heavily to produce.
