Nova - see what you started?  ;D Let's keep it going right up to the first tip off :D
Well, what do you do in the offseason?  lol

I was five when it happened, but what about UNC's perfect basketball season in 1957 which included, I think, back-to-back triple OT games in the Final Four.  Add the fact that Kansas had Wilt Chamberlain at Center and UNC's tallest man was about 6'5" and you had a miracle upset.  :)

John Elway finally winning a Super Bowl just before Dale Earnhardt, Sr. finally wins a Daytona 500

Villanova of Georgetown in 1985 and Kansas over Oklahoma in 1988

The "Tiger Slam"

The Dream Team

and some smaller schools...

JMU (where I have my Master's degree from) winning the 1-AA Championship winning all of their games on the road

Bridgewater getting to the Sweet 16 when there were 64 teams in the D-3 Tournament by winning two on the road

Bridgewater vs. Rowan (I think the clock just started, or stopped), then giving Mt. Union all they could handle before losing 30-27

JWW...

I could keep this discussion up until tip-off very easily!!

How about France's winless war record?  Well, I'll give them a tie in the French Revolution, but they were technically fighting themselves.  Still, that makes them like 0-37-1.  :)

I apologize for breaking with the ongoing theme, but I saw this on another board...thought us ODAC fans would like to see this as well.

44 - thanks for the Street & Smith information.  Very nice.

damien brown an HM all-american? Interesting. Not saying he doesn't deserve, I'm just surprised he was even considered based on the stats he puts up - solid but dont look like the typical stats an AA would have.

I do agree with them that Averett is a team to watch. Jimmy Allen has done a hell of a job with that program since taking it over after the team went 0-25 before he came. They have gotten exponentially better every single year he's been there.

Why no Lynchburg in there? lol

Well, as a Math major, I know exponents can be negative as well as positive.  :)

Heck, I think Balenga is a nice player -  but pre-season HM AA? His #'s last year weren't any better than a couple of other ODAC juniors. He may be getting the Scottie Pippen vote.

I think it's a pretty easy argument to make that Balenga should be on the preseason HM AA list.  Sure his stats last year weren't jawdropping, but he is the best returning player on preseason top-10 team.  I don't think this is a case of the "Scottie Pippen vote", but more about the fact that he's a player who steps up his game in the biggest games (see the performance in the 2006 title game and the performance in the 2007 national semi-final after the broken nose).

jdubyadubya

He belongs on the list. He's played in the shadow of Adair for the last few years and this year is his coming out party.

The Gennies start practice on Monday. When do the rest of the teams get going?
