78rmc,   It has been awhile. Hope to be at crenshaw next wednesday evening. I think the Jackets will start slow but end the year well above 500.

Don, been laying low, but I do hope to see you next week.  I think the Jackets will do well this year.  Coach has 10 freshmen and they're very good.  It will be an exciting group to watch in the upcoming years.  Certainly, .500 is attainable, but I think they'll surprise some teams this year.

Doh!  My bad.  I was reading, and typing too fast.  Don't shoot me!

Saw EMU beat a previously unbeated Ferrum.  Good job for the young Royals  http://www.emu.edu/athletics/news/?id=1667

My friend, Ferrum was 2-2 coming into this game.  Always good to see the ODAC win, but Ferrum may not be a good judge of quality for the emus.

ferrum's two wins came against Randolph College and Elmira College - a team that only won 3 games in a not-so-great conference and one of their top two players from last year transferred to LC this year...

I bet Ferrum is really pleased to read that they "may not be a good judge of quality for the emus."  :-\

At this point, I would not consider Ferrum as a 'high quality' opponent with two wins over very weak opponents (There I go, now Randolph and Elmira will be upset).  The original statement was giving EMU kudos for a strong win over an unbeaten Ferrum, far from the truth. Not bashing EMU, Ferrum or the others, just didn't see it as a 'high quality' win.  Who knows, my Jackets could lose to both of them.

I'm pickin HSC, RMC, VWC and GC to win on Saturday and RC and VWC to win on Sunday. BC is playing Medgar Evans and EMU is playing DeSales and I don't know what that's all about so I'll just go with the ODAC contests. Who you pickin Nova? ;D

I think these picks are solid, although E&H could trip HSC if the game is similar to the Sydney loss versus Averett.  RC's also a solid team that might top RMC on the second day of the two game weekend road trip for the Jackets.

It looks as though BC and EMU are trading opponents (Medgar Evers and Desales) this weekend at BC.  I also don't know much about these two (Medgar Evers and Desales).

Agreed, HSC/EHC and RC/RMC would also be my tossups.

Are we doing a pick'em this year? The ODAC Pick'em site has been dormant since February.

If previous years in this tournament are an indication of anything, then these two opponents won't be any tougher for them than ferrum was for emu (since that seems to be the most talked about team/game right now).

STH - so you mean that some teams schedule walk-overs to make their W/L record look good?

no comment on that question...

Geez, I was just trying to make the board aware EMU won a game.  Didn't know it would devolve into a whole conversation.  I am sorry if it sounded like I was trying to pump up EMU as "all that and a box of chocolate."

As far as the quality of the teams in the BC event, I would like to think the teams are finding teams that are willing to come and play.  I am guessing the gulf between the teams will be less than between App. State and University of Michigan football.  Opps, maybe not a good example  :P :D
